Postponed this video for too long, so I decided to finally work on it after I took a wee break. I’ll also be on vacation for 3 weeks, so I hope you all have a festive winter holiday! After naming a few of my other Cubes and Tubes Setups, what do you think we should name these new ones? My suggestions are: Pine Brush, and The Valley, so leave your name suggestions in the comments, and we can have a poll on it in the next video :D Again, have a festive winter holiday, and take care. ~ A Fellow Ant Keeper
Too much, and I don’t have a large enough colony anyway. Haven’t moved my current colonies yet into my other formicaria, so I’m waiting until I move them in before getting any other nests.
Yes, I sell queen ants, but only through the GAN Farm. But right now I do not have any for sale. However, I can answer any questions you have about ant keeping through my email: sslendyendyy@gmail.com
The nicer containers I used for my enclosures I got from The Container Store. Really high quality containers, but can get expensive after buying a few. I got similar ones at a dollar store, so check there first if you’re buying a more than a couple.
Congrats on the 1000 subs. Just wondering if anyone has a tips. I have two lasius niger queens in hibernation since 1 November (in a fridge at around 5C). I check on them every few weeks and make sure they're hydrated. I noticed upon checking today that one of the queens seems quite active when compared to the other. Does this mean I should end the active queens hibernation now or continue until 1 March for both as I'd initially planned? Thanks in advance
I would take the queen out. The queen should be ay least slowed down at that temperature. But just to be safe, I would remove the queen from being in hibernation.
Quick query for you, both my queens (in separate tubes) are out and one of them is doing really well and has resumed laying. The other, lost her only nanitic back in October (my fault, she got stuck in a small amount of honey and died). Since then she’s only lain one egg which doesn’t seem to be growing. I’ve given her a small drop of protein jelly and some sweetened jelly and will wait for two weeks to see if anything’s changed but if not do you think it’s unlikely she’ll lay again now, or is there anymore I can do. Both queens are kept in the dark at around 25 degrees centigrade, and I check them around once every fortnight. Thanks in advance
@@alexa1591 If winter is starting to end for you, then the queen with one egg should start laying soon. She could start becoming more active now since you took her out of hibernation earlier, or she's just a later egg layer. Spring should be coming soon, and she should have a new batch then. Honey and jelly are good to give her her energy. Just make sure that the the jelly are not prone to molding. That's pretty much all we can do other than wait and see how she does.
ll Ender Ants ll thanks bro I managed to finally get her to lay, you we’re right she was just a late bloomer. I gave her some protein jelly and that may have helped or it may have just been long enough after hibernation but there’s now a cluster of new eggs 👍
Nice colonies, remember once my camponotus colony is growing slowly,so I asked u for help,u suggested to feed them more protein and now, they have a ton of brood and 6-8 workers!

@@EnderAnts Its possible to get 10 but 20 is almost impossible. Feed them all the protein and sugars you want but either they refuse it or the queen has no change in egg laying.

How old are your Crematogaster colonies?
Right now they're 7 months old, since I caught them in July. But they've haven't laid as many eggs since, as its still winter.
Ok, prepare for a large colony soon, my 13 month old colony have almost 1000 workers
Wow impressive, I’ve heard from other people too that they’ve had their Crematogaster colonies get larger fast

20 worker? It will not happen. Trust me. I keep that species of camponotus and it took all summer just to get 8 workers.
Dang really? I’ll have to feed them a bunch of protein so hopefully this colony will reach around that number before next year.
