Deir Yassin was an atrocity. Here's at least an explanation of the causes from Britannica: "According to the UN partition plan, the Jerusalem district was to be governed by an international regime. It would be surrounded, however, by an Arab state, leaving Jewish communities in the district without a direct lifeline to the Jewish state. After those communities fell under frequent blockade in 1948, Jewish paramilitaries sought to secure a passageway between Jerusalem and the Jewish communities along the coast (in a campaign known as Operation Nachshon). Deir Yassin overlooked that passage."

I'm not a Christian but will quote this as it is entirely applicable 'what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul'? When poor nations (the Phillipines, Guatemala etc) sell each other out for the crumbs offered by wealthy nations (the USA etc) nobody wins ultimately. This dirty game of self-serving and greed at the expense of others is why poverty and hunger continues in the world today. We can talk about 'civilisation' but, until we want for our fellow humans what we want for ourselves, we are not 'civilised'. We are worse than animals because we have the ability to reason yet squander it on lying and scheming for what amounts to baubles!
Lately, I have had difficulties watching this kind of documentary, and yes, yet again, certain words seem to trigger a sudden, inexplicable cessation of function: the videos either don't start or stop suddenly - for no reason. I wonder whether anyone else has encountered such phenomena?
A sad and depressing history of invasion, occupation and ethnic cleansing, continued even after the Second World War, a war that in its fullest showed the dangerous and catastrophic results of the idea that some are chosen, superior or in any other way above others. Such ideas are the foundation of oppression, apartheid and the suffering of those not considered chosen, something we see reflected in the politics of Israel today. And in the years to follow, Europe has sat with their hands in their laps, doing nothing, and the US even actively supporting this policy of continued occupation, illegal settlements and ethnic cleansing.
Very interesting, clearly a carefully written script, thank you. There is though another even bigger story inside this film which unfortunately is not represented. I guess this was made with an Arab & Muslim audience in mind? This could explain why so much information essential for a true understanding of this complex & sensitive subject is completely missing. For just one example, there is no mention of the other 'Nakba' which was if it was anything, far more unjust. Some 850,000 people were ejected from their homes, properties without compensation, without being permitted to take anything they could not carry. Some of those unfortunate families had lived in the same lands long before the rise of Islam, since the time of king Nebuchadnezzar II who destroyed the Temple of Jerusalem and initiated the Babylonian Captivity of the Jewish population, or earlier. Theirs too is a story worth retelling.
According to the Abrahamic tradition, Arabs are descendants of Abraham through his son Ishmael. God specifically states that he will make Ishmael into a great nation because he is Abraham's son, recalling the promise that God had made to Abraham that he would be the progenitor of nations, and an ancestor of kings (Gen 17:6) The ancient Philistines (now known as Palestinians) were in the land of Canaan before Moses and the Israelites claimed it as their Promised Land from God. The conflict over Canaan territory and religious/cultural differences between Israelites and Palestinians has led to many battles between the two nations.
My bad it's TEN times worse then the Nazis as at least THEY were STOPPED by the west. This time it's SUPPORTED by the west. As not only do we KNOW it goes on but America especially is actively STOPPING the rest of the world (or the UN) from even giving the Palestinians aid let alone military support/training like what's given to Israel.
Jeez, difficult to watch this superb documentary. The hypocrisy, arrogance, shamelessness, malicious deliberation and lies of the colonisers past/present: one couldn't make it up.
Approximately six months previously, according to an interview in an 11 October 1947 article of , Azzam said: "I personally wish that the Jews do not drive us to this war, as this will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades"

Canada, Australia, South Africa , US, New Zealand and then of course Spanish colonized countries as well as French colonized all committed atrocities for land.... all put into motion the process of eliminating the native populations one way or another to get control of land....... so we should make Canadians, Americans, New Zealanders, Australians , South African, Dutch, Spanish, French and ofcourse worst of all the British feel bad for their history......... feel sorry for Syria or Afghanistan its run this way today . The world is a sad and sorry despicable place that is poisoned by religious ideologies.
No, you wouldn't. You'd be grateful for your own land to nurture and protect you.
Born and bred Brummie (Birmingham) a British Citizen and proud of my country; through Our Lord all the blessings bestowed upon me and my family forever grateful.
But the British Empire our colonial past his an absolute disgrace to the human race.
Going throughout the globe conquer govern oppress loot divide and bloodshed all in the name of the brand the British Monarchy (British Empire).
In all cases "it took looted stole" the historical state valuables of each country & to this very day have not returned what does not belong to them.
Stop self bashing, and look into who controls the UK and Britain.
The jewish Rothschilds control GB, America, and much of the world. They absolutely needed the holocaust in order to cement their global control plans. Although the holocaust has been greatly exaggerated and distorted, it was these same evil jews that pulled off and wrote the official history... those same jews who have given the world much a phony history, which largely omits all of these truths. The distortion and perversion of everything is what the jews do best!
Amazing, well scripted and edited. As a jewish israei i sincerely apologize on behalf of my ancestors for those tragedies. That being said, They have been trough an ethnic genoside in europe. In fact, half of the world was affected by this cruel, irresponsible generation of human kind.
We should respect our history but also understand we are not subjected to those people, times has changed, we should look forward and get ready to let go and compromise on everything, from both sides.
Just an apology ain’t enough, Palestinians still live in open Israeli prisons to this day.. need to raise a voice for humanity
The roots of Al-Nakba go way back, before the Holocaust. This would have happened had there been no Holocaust. The Zionist sense of entitlement runs quite deep.
Traitor.
Why should the Palestinians compromise with having their land, homes, property taken... What do they gain by compromising?
Israel and Palestine are crying out for a Nelson Mandela, someone who believes in forgiveness and has enough light inside her to be seen.
this is a switch. we don't normally get to hear the palestenian side of the israeli-palestenian conflict in the usa. you have to go on the internet and watch something done by another channel that isn't shown on tv in the usa.
Al Jazzera is known for its biased journalism
@@magic895rt How is this documentary biased?

An informative series.
Very sad to watch, but this should be taught in every Western school.
Britain had an disgusting and cynical role in those massacres.
This should go viral
Amazing program the best researched...it should be part of history education...increadible❤❤
I hope many people will watch these videos. it's really
Definitely deserve more views
It's hard not to notice the difference in the attitude of a people building their own state and the opposition without a clear agenda even though a decision was made to allow them to create their own state.
There are 2 sides to every story. We would be foolish to think that these events just came at noble intentions. Nothing man has done outside of care for others has ever been noble.
This too should be remembered.
It should be mnandatory... its amazingly well researched...the best of all I have seen....about this sad human history..one of many
Free Palestine! Inschallah!
This program does an excellent job providing the Arab perspective. Well done.
Delta4ms shut up Zionazism!
NOT well done! they missed the key part... The Nakba was caused by the Palestinians refusal to adopt the UN's 1948 partition plan AND subsequent declaration of war on Israel DESPITE every indication that they were better trained and better equipped! There are consequences to picking a fight with your stronger neighbor and losing!
And much of it told by Israeli historians. So not just the arab perspective.
My heart bleeds for the Palestinian people. Israel committed the crime gainst humanity. ETHIC CLEANSING to highest level! They will pay for it.
You are a terrorist.
Al Jazeera should promote this documentary
Very enlightening!!! I have been wanting to know the other side of the story behind this war. Thank you, Al Jazeera!
I want to know the credits after the last series, is the voice-over by British historian Michael Wood?
this documentry was done by the Palestinian filmmaker Rawan Damen. I suggest you to watch all of her documentaries about Palestine

@@sweetjustice1809 No, they didn't. They lived a peaceful coexistence for many centuries, and those Christians are still there facing the same struggles. You clearly haven't done your research.
@@ThomasMorrison141 The doumentary did mention that the christians were there, along with many other religions also. Not just jews. It was a mix of people & religoins. The jews were in the minority. But God banished them from the land never to return till the coming of the messiah as they don't accecpt it was Jesus who was the messiah.

So the British assisted the Jews in removing the natives. They are just as guilty.
Yes they did, but the video missed a key part… The Nakba was caused by the Palestinians refusal to adopt the UN's 1948 partition plan AND subsequent declaration of war on Israel DESPITE every indication that they were better trained and better equipped! The Brits were heavily influenced by the owners of the Bank of England. Those were zionists. So the Brits were just used as pawns in a way.
@@asafbenhaim7382That's actually not true. The Zionists decided to just take more land because Britain had taken away all guns and weapons and the Zionists knew the Arabs were defenseless.
Please check facts before posting especially when the Zionists committed so much treachery and carnage.
@@asafbenhaim7382 half of the nakba happened before the arab neighbors declared war. and yes, it shouldn't be a surprise that people wouldn't voluntarily leave their native land. Can you imagine a UN plan that necessarily includes the forced deportation of native people from their land, just to create an artificial jewish majority for new jewish immigrants/colonizers? it's crazy that was ever allowed!
It might seem crazy, but thats exactly what the world called for with the 1947 UN plan - a two state compromise on the land. Why didn’t the Palestinians agree to it? Why did they start a war?
This made me cry 😔
Imagine if they would have came to stay peacefully? That would have been nice
Human historical memory shouldn’t be forgotten or it will be repeated over and over.
great documentary. Long live Palestine.
Good job from this lady, really appreciate the documentary about the Palestinian history really sad how was taken forcefully from their lands. 😓😔
The Palestinian history, a people who persist in feeling sorry for themselves, believing this false history, refuse to make peace, who live on handouts.
If only the Arab world at this point had not been so naive and armed the Palestinians better with armies and weapons things would be different.

the number of views as you go through the episodes goes down and down, episdone 1 had 100k views while episode 3 has 25k views
To go to Episode 2, you have to "verify your age" by adding a credit card or scanning a government ID, with the verification taking up to 3 days. I am convinced this is intentionally done by youtube to keep people from watching the rest of this. Shameless. They've done it to other documentaries about Israel/ Palestine, and (curiously or obviously?) only those that show the side of the oppressed.
I have watched all the video and this opens my eyes 👀 wow
The suffering has gone on for too many years. It cannot sustain itself. It should never have happened in my humble opinion. Only a few men decided this for their own gain

What about restoration to the Jews by the Arabs?
when I see this series I feel I am leaving in same time period ,, nice job,,
How shameful a history and legacy between the British and the Jews. SHAME on them.
Mourhiba Khorshid. Why is there nothing written or told oof this heroic Palestinian lady?
Truly educational. Sickening behaviour of the British and inhuman behaviour of the Zionists. Not difficult to see why there is turmoil in the middle east. If history has anything to add, eventually, everything does a full circle. Just a matter of time. May god bless the Palestinians.

to rise above the falling bricks and molten steel those places wants our homes now all but ashes burning in the winter game but i say to you today we are the solidiers of purpose and guardians of truth
We will fight for those things that we love so dearly
We will fight for our mothers
We will fight for our fathers and our sisters and our brothers
No matter the seasons when bombs fall we rise up!!
When they occupy our cities we rise up
When missles fly we rise up

We neighbors not seperated by borders but connected by an invisible force a light that shine ever so bright in each and everyone of our hearts so say it clear
Rise up!!!!

People protested and marched to create consciousness about the Palestinian plight and they will not stop until there is a world wide awareness.
Really educational. Perfect for GCSE students
Pointing a finger at someone else does not excuse the crimes in question. However it does indicate the speaker agrees with the accusation of guilt.
haha are u another one that talks about stories from 1000s of years ago
According to the Abrahamic tradition, Arabs are descendants of Abraham through his son Ishmael. God specifically states that he will make Ishmael into a great nation because he is Abraham's son, recalling the promise that God had made to Abraham that he would be the progenitor of nations, and an ancestor of kings (Gen 17:6)
The ancient Philistines (now known as Palestinians) were in the land of Canaan before Moses and the Israelites claimed it as their Promised Land from God. The conflict over Canaan territory and religious/cultural differences between Israelites and Palestinians has led to many battles between the two nations.

Wait, I thought this documentary was about Palestine? But as far as I can tell it appears to be about how Jews were treated by the Nazis during WWII?!
This is not pro- Palestinian it is just accurate history.

38:30, better trained the Israelis (not their fault) might have been, but it's unbelievable that 7 Arab armies bent on "freeing" sacred Arab land could field only "1/3rd" the strength of the Jewish forces ("no more than 24,000"), implying that already on day 1 of its existence modern Israel (as opposed to the Israelites of Biblical times) had defense forces numbering at least 75,000! These figures suddenly strain the credibility of much that's being said/shown in this sophisticated well-packaged documentary.
It is always been someone's victory a someone's catastrophe and will remain so unless come to a common ground of reality.
