I'm not against low ABV, but, I'm with you Bruce. When I order a drink, I want it strong. I'm not looking to get fucked up, I'm just looking to enjoy myself and loosen up a little. I drink to relax after a long day at work, and why not? It's my privilage to be able to enjoy a drink at home whenever I'm off the clock.
I think it has more to do with the fact that low ABV just tastes better a lot of the time. Many don't like the "alcohol taste" and many bars just don't have bartenders that have any passion for the craft. Not sure how something like a martini ever took off, given that it is largely pure alcohol (you might as well just take shots at that point). The other part of it, from what I can tell as a bartender, is that many want high volume drinks these days. I get a lot of weird looks from people when I serve a drink 'up' in a nick & nora because it looks so small vs a highball full of icecubes. I try to explain to them that they're getting the same amount of alcohol but they still feel like they are getting stiffed, seeing as the price is the same. For this reason, we adjusted our drinks to be made with more mixer and in bigger glasses (Norway doesn't allow for more than 40ml of alcohol in a drink so we can't scale that up, we just have to add more mixer.... it sucks).
I like a stiff drink but when you need to drive or have guests who are driving nonalcohol beverages are good. I took your apple cider syrup and put it in ginger beer with some angostura bitters out of this world man. I’ll try this. Thanks man.
I hate to admit it, but I actually make a non-alcoholic Piña Colada that tastes *way* better than the original with rum. 😂 I really worked out the perfect ingredients for this and now I enjoy this Virgin Colada even more. 🙈 And the whole family does too, *nobody* complains. 😅
Thanks so much for sharing! What a lovely cocktail! I do love a nice punch with a cocktail but hey this looks spectacular! You rock Bruce!! I hope all is well!! Cheers!! 🙂
Now that was a great commercial! I talked a bit about Seagrams in my Banana Melon Splash episode. ua-cam.com/video/SgoFp3-bfgQ/v-deo.htmlsi=at9gmC52CEUZ3YYo
It's not an invention. It's a adaptation of some classics from Andalucía y Porto. Rebujito = manzanilla/fino + 7up Portonic / splash = Porto + Tonic In hot summers low ABV drink, like claras, tintos de verano or panachés, are for thirsty not for spirit. An about the mocktails, I distrust those who said when because they do themselves too.
"Tune in next time folks."
Yes sir.
Thanks for watching!

Well said!
Hey Bruce, Mocktails are an interesting go to for alot of people. And this drink looks fantastic.
Thanks for the comment. Hope you’re doing well!
Cheers Bruce. This will make a great addition to my home bars summer menu. I have some weak friends.

Glad you gave it a go! Thanks for tuning in.
Guess I’m old fashioned too Bruce. If I’m going to drink I want the “benefits” of the alcohol. Thanks for all the great videos!
Thanks for tuning in!
