Humans have existed for 200k years but in just the past 100 years or so (less than 0.05% of the time we have been around), we have developed most of the norms and technological devices we now consider mundane. Because of this, millenials and Generation Z have had noticeably different childhoods and upbringings than former generations, which in turn shapes how they act and think. I think it's mostly a label for this huge turning point in human civilization
Every 20-30 year gap has a generational title, it defines who we are, we were born in the start of millennia we are millennials. If you’re born after the Vietnam war? You’re a Baby Boomer because having babies was very popular. The negative connotation usually comes after the words created. Why people judge each other for what they are labeled is questionable but the words themselves aren’t inherently bad.
real talk, the difference between we older millennials(I'm 32) vs the younger ones is at what point did you experience 9/11. in high school and driving before 9/11 means you had a pre-9/11 life. if that makes any sense. growing up primarily in post-9/11 makes a WORLD of difference I've seen. nothing wrong with it, just a completely different outlook. it's really weird but i see that being a major factor as we age.

Because many basic millennial's don't have the attention span to read up on the subject but because being woke or informed is now a cool trait they have to learn. However they're not gonna read, so a movie based on the subject. That way they can be mildly informed, not look like an idiot, quote film, and be slightly pretentious on the subject, all without having to do any actual self research or dedicating actual time and attention to it like someone who actually cares.😏
