    We love our 2022 XC90 Recharge! Most of the time we do three-across, with two car seats on the sides and our son on the booster in the middle, with the third row down for storage. One of the best features of this car is that the third row folds truly flat, making for a large and very usable storage area.
    For long trips (5+ hours), we put up one seat in the third row and fold down the middle seat in the second row so our son can climb back. It still leaves us enough storage, but we could always throw a cargo carrier on the hitch if needed.
    I'm 6'4" and think the third row is fine, other than it being hard to get into. Also, the shelf in the glove box helps keep it organized, and partly makes up for the small center console storage. We average over 1,000 miles on a tank.

    I’m an xc90 owner and if you purchase the captain chairs option the third row comes with tether anchors. Love this vehicle!

    I have had the XC90 D5 2018 for five years now, I can safely say that this car is reliable. Around 90,000 km have been driven and other investments, apart from regular (mandatory) service visits, have not been necessary. The only thing that was changed is the gas pedal set in the cabin (the turbo button stopped working, got stuck). I think that this car will last up to 150,000 km without significant investments (apart from some features of D5, for example with PowerPulse technology). Gasoline engines are very hot. Regular oil changes should be followed accordingly

    I remember back in the early 90s that my dad got a Volvo as a rental while on vacation and it had the build in booster and I thought it was so cool and I wanted to sit on it and my parents told me I was too big 🤦‍♀️. Look what we know now! (I was 6 for reference)

    I have a 2021 with 20k miles, and so far, so good. I agree with all of the styling compliments - I'm still impressed every time I get in it. Mine has the Bowers and Wilkins sound system, which I think is phenomenal!
    I haven't had any reliability issues (although I probably just jinxed myself). With all of the tech and features in the car I do wonder how comfortable I'll be owing it out of warrantee.
    In terms of mileage, it all comes down to your driving habits. Mine gets about 18 miles in EV mode on a full charge (the new model gets double that), so if you do mostly shorter trips, and can charge in between, you can really go a while before needing to fill the gas tank. My best is 1,000 miles on a tank. The average for the 20k I've put on the car is 35 MPG, which is amazing for a 400HP SUV that seats 7. My previous MDX averaged 19 with similar driving.
    The 3rd row is perfect for us. We are a family of 4, so don't use it all the time. When we do, it's a great size for kids, and it's fine for adults on short trips. I'm 6', 220 lbs and I don't mind sitting back there for up to an hour or so. I really like that the middle seat in the second row folds down - makes it easy/fun for my kids to hop into the 3rd row. Also, having that down makes it less claustrophobic for the people in the 3rd row.

    Excellent review. Looking for something in this size range and your reviews for several seem to be the best. Wish I had found them first rather than so many others I've wasted my time on!

    Can you put two car seats next to each other on an outside and center seat and then access the third row with the open side, or will it not slide/tilt enough with the center car seat installed?

    What are your thoughts on installing a top tether anchor after purchasing this vehicle? I’ve seen it suggested that top tethers can be safely installed on older vehicles that don’t have tethers, but I wanted to get your take on whether it’s truly safe even with a professional doing the installation at the dealership? (If even possible)

    As a short Mom, the third row seats not having a tether to pull the seats back up is a deal breaker for me.

    They haven’t changed the design of the xc90 in YEARS it’s getting outdated!

    • @CrookedSkew

      I agree that they haven't changed the design but disagree that it is dated. Yes, technically it is old but it is massively better than most other guff out there.

    Will pass, poor mileage;
    Last in reliability (jd powers n consumer reports); No drive modes
    No am radio (for sports lovers) ; Android infotainment, not intuitive
    No remote start

    • @airforcerg
      @airforcerg Рік тому +5

      As an owner of this car, there are 5 different drive modes that are easily accessible.
      I get 31 mpg on the highway regularly, which gets it just under 600 miles per tank
      It absolutely has an AM radio, and the system is very intuitive unless more than 2 screen taps is considered challenging for you.
      The car is super quick (0-60 in 4.5 seconds) and the design is stellar across the board.
      And it does have remote start with the Volvo Cars app.

      @@airforcerg thank u for clarifying. My comment was sourced from another YT channel. Most of my focus is city driving so i need more efficiency on that end. Does the std features incl power front row seats (passenger incl), power tailgate, power side mirrors?

    • @airforcerg
      @airforcerg Рік тому

      @@midlifemom5829 I *think* those are all standard features on most every Volvo these days. The only one that might not be is the power folding mirrors, but off the top of my head I'm not sure. We have the mid-tier "plus" trim, whereas Car Mom is in the ultimate trim. If you're in city driving and can pre-charge at home this is a HUGE plus and the premium you pay for the plug in will offset itself in just a few years depending on your electricity rate at home.

    Nice review and video format. Keep in mind, that if you want to drive in EV only mode, that the Volvo becomes a rear wheel drive vehicle. Only in hybrid mode to you get AWD function.
