I think this would be such a great car for a mom with older kids; a little smaller, you don’t have to worry about how to cram in car seats, double strollers, etc., and it is beautiful!
You could think that but you would also be wrong. But if you want then go ahead and pay some mom 75K to buy this Volvo that you think is so great for her and the kids hehe
Well, that is, if the kids are young enough to fit in the backseat
I’ve watched so many car reviews over the past few days and this is by far my favorite channel I’ve found! So refreshing and keeping it real, love it!
ah youre so sweet, thank you so much for watching!!
When the XC90 is considered small, it really makes US feel like a different planet...
are you kidding me, this damn suv is mammoth.
@@piefecta3012 I know. When the XC60 is considered a compact-SUV.
It does fill up fast for a family of 5 with all children in car seats and a double stroller in the back. Won’t be able to fit much else.
i guess Im randomly asking but does anyone know a way to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow forgot my password. I would appreciate any help you can give me
@Arian Finnegan i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
4:50, Volvo introduced the patented 'three-point safety belt' in 1959.
They later made the patent available to other car manufacturers.
Im not a car mom but a soon to be car dad and much like Micah, i think the family perspective for car reviews are the most practical and resonant. Most us have passengers so appreciate your channel. Interested in your Kia Carnival review!
I appreciate that! thanks for watching! Carnival review will be out as soon as we get one on the lot!
Idk about everyone else but I just love her personality 😂😩 I literally laughed three times in this review I thought I was watching like a day in life of the car mom … loveee this car review I had to subscribe
It's great to see car reviews from a different perspective. Glad you're doing this and wish you the best of luck.
Finally, a reviewer notices the 3rd row storage cubby spiders. As a 2017 XC90 owner, this brings me joy.
hahaha its the little things. I had to google it and turns out the 'web' pattern is to reinforce the structure of the cubby's lid so Volvo just decided to throw a little spider on there for fun. I LOVE those details
I love all the storage in mine. I have a 2020.
It was so nice to find this because you got straight into the stuff I cared about AND included interior option, like yessss! THANK YOU! This is what I've needed forever lol
Not a single top tether in the third row? That’s insane. It should be mandated nationally. And lol “I can fit like 6 pennies in here.” This is such a great tour...love that you noted the door clearance with bucket seats. So helpful! And I’m in the Northeast and say infant seat or bucket seat. Pumpkin seat is so cute!
No third row tether is the exact reason we bought the Audi Q7 instead of the XC90.
You’re the first person I’ve ever heard call it a pumpkin seat! I love it! I call it a bucket seat, grew up on the west coast!
It would be awesome if you could start showing a double stroller for some of the tours!
I agree about the backseat cup holder. As a person with no kids (pregnant though) I am already constantly needing those extra cup holders in the backseat of my car… so they need to be useable! Cracked up when you knocked your cup out of the cup holder though 😂😂
I am so bummed for the lack of cup holders in this vehicle. It’s a dealbreaker. I live in the south and we constantly have plenty of drinks in the car
I never heard it called a pumpkin seat until I started following you! I call it a bucket seat, I’m from the northeast!
hahaha, found this: "Volvo’s Technology and Product Communications Manager Jim Nichols pointed out this most smile-inducing of hidden details located on the underside of the rear seat compartment lid. Structural requirements dictated a “spiderweb” pattern be used to reinforce the lid’s structure; Volvo’s designers decided to add a spider for the joy of surprise, converting a design necessity back to that of an act of intention."
I’m a Volvo driver, once I became a mom I switch to a Volvo. One the safest car on the market.
I am looking to upgrade my mom mobile from a Chrysler sedan.. could this be the one💭
@@CintiaVsTia hi, i've upgrade from a honda civic hatchback to a Xc60. Its awesome i love it. I find it so spacious, even considering the civic have sooo much loading space. Both the xc60 and xc90 are awesome choices but depending on your family size, i would recommend the xc60. But feel free to ask question :-)
I'm a Volvo mom too. And I love the ample space in all my Volvos.
My wife and I needed a channel like this. Subscribed!!!
Thank you!
Had an XC90 Inscription for two years…very reliable and gets good mileage for its size. Three significant negatives make me not want to buy another Volvo: 1. Second row headrest design does not allow a top Reatherford to fit under the headrest…the passage is too narrow. 2. Cruise control is illogical; a momentary press of the speed increase button accelerates the car by 5 mph while a long press accelerates the car in 1 mph increments. 3. Cannot lock the car using the exterior door handle button until all doors are closed…you have to stand there and wait until everyone exits the car until you can press the button and lock the doors.
Volvo makes so many beautiful cars. XC90 definitely is one of my favorite jeeps.. the older xc90s are also beautiful. They dont age at all!
As a father with a daughter in size 5 diapers, I truly thank you for the size reference. Also got a kick out of it. Good video.
I'd also love to see a Forester/Outback and an XC60! In the market for my next car... thank you!! Loved this video, as an XC90 is on my list.
Yes! Same! particularly interested in the outback!
Yup - first company to design/use the 3 point seatbelt and they didn't gate keep the patent in the interest of safety.
We just got one today! I just loooooove this denim blue color!
Kelly, loved your review and your genuine personality! However I think your build wasn't on the US site ,Canada maybe? I just built the exact car and it was $61,595, quite a bit less than $74,115, which makes it a much better value than the fully loaded Inscription you drove.
It was the Canadian site, I am in Canada and got worried that the prices were in USD!
I have a 2009 xc90 and didn’t know until watching this video the middle seat turned into a booster!! We discovered the front of the seat popped up but didn’t know why. 😅
Thanks !!
I’m from Ohio, and we just call it an infant seat. I really love that you call it a pumpkin seat, though, and I totally might start calling them that. 😅
I know you’ve already done the Kia telluride but I would LOVE to see a palisade car tour!
She did tour it, it’s on her instagram
I have a 2020 Palisade on my IG but will be getting to a 2021 soon!
@@TheCarMom awesome! I can’t wait 😁 I don’t have IG, so I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. I ❤️ your content so much!! What you talk about is just as important to me. It’s like when I watch football games, I like talking about the colors of their uniform, or knowing something about their personal life...maybe a player with a newborn at home might need to get a little break if he’s not playing well that day 😂
Best video ever!! So helpful doing the build, especially with purchasing used
Thank you for doing this!! Would absolutely love to see the Mercedes GLS tour if you can sneak that one in
Me too!!!!
Me too!!
Yes, please!
I would LOVE to see you tour a Mercedes GLS!
The little strip of buttons with a center knob below the touch screen actually are physical climate controls btw
In Australia we call pumpkin seats "capsules"!
I am looking at the Toyota Sequoia and I am BEGGING YOU to do a tour of it! lol
Please do an Explorer! I have an ST and I’m dying to know what you think of it 🤗
Yes! I just got one and wished she had done one
omg you are so funny, these videos are so informative and I love your vibe.. and that's why I subscribed
We just call it a rear facing seat in Northern California
Volvo created three point seat belt and didn't patent it. They gave it to every other car manufacturers because safety is important and it's their thing.
Great review,I like how you point out little details.
Thanks!
We have 4 kids and we love our XC90 inscription!
Tom Calkins at west county Volvo is the man! I used to work there
We’re expecting baby #1 and would love to see a review of the XC60!
Kelly could you please make a video about your top ten favorite family cars 😁
Yes working on this one!
You’re so fun to watch! Thank you for being so thorough and relevant!! Subscribed
Imo it still holds Fresh and Elegant to date. Please, Volvo. Consider greatly the ff. Pts:
1. Bring back 5 Cylinder Engines across All model range. Even for Diesels.
2. Put back Physical buttons for A/C controls.
3. Improve further the Fit and Finish of Leathers, Buttons etc. to Bentley-like Levels. There should be a lot more consistency with Dampness of Cup holder Covers.
4. Bring (back) more interior Leather color options. Cognac, Taupe, Light Moss Green, Midnight Blue (like in Navigator black label), Burgundy and Noble Brown (like in Lexus RX).
5. Drastically Improve the Suspension settings, Ride Comfort and NVH level down to a minimum to Mercedes and Lexus levels.
6. Wool fabric options for All models.
7. Make a True Off-road segment vehicle for Volvo. They are great Truck makers, after all.
8. Less models made in China.
9. Don’t bother with too much Tech, simplicity is Reliability and the Scandinavian way.
10. An all-new C30, V40 models. 🙏🏼
I LOVE this car but worry it won’t work long term with 2 or more kids. I’d love to see a Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac XT6 tour!
But it seats 7....so it fits 5 to 6 kids
I have the 2017 MY .. Exactly the same car. Only improvements are the refrigerator part in glove box and the wireless charging pad
The only issue I had in the first ten years and 100k miles on my Volvo was battery failures. I’ll take the manual seats and hatches if I can. I’ve written off the larger Volvos because they really should have the inline 6, and I’m not paying for the hybrid green fees.
My first time on this channel but I love ittttt. We do need the power in the 3rd row!!!!
1st time hearing it called a pumpkin seat. I call it an infant carrier - from Baltimore, MD.
Baby Seat......then Child Seat.
honestly do a tour of the bronco!
Can you do a car reviews on the Cadillac XT6 please? I love all you reviews. They are super helpful from a mom and a tall woman standpoint. Families with tall people need all the leg space.
Just found your channel! Love your reviews and your energy! Would love to see a new Honda Pilot review . Never heard it called a pumpkin 🎃 seat. That’s cute. Here in CA I call it a baby seat. PS I am a total Clek fan 💜 and love that you include them in your reviews. They are awesome car seats 👍🏼
Definitely call it an infant seat, possibly a bucket but I have to say you’re the first person I’ve heard call it a pumpkin seat but it’s fun!
Not the first seatbelt but the first 3 point seatbelt. Among many other safety firsts for Volvo.
Vancouver (BC) dad here. I call it an infant bucket or baby bucket. I've never heard "pumpkin seat" until this video. LOL.
You should emphasize that you cover the space aspect. You do it better than most other reviewers.
The safety of the Volvo is it highlight for me. This video was good, but spent a lot of time talking about minor practicalities rather than the fact that this is more or less the safest cars on on the road worldwide. Especially when compared to larger alternatives. As a father of three, this is primary.
I was initially interested in this car but ended up going with the Atlas with captains chairs. So glad I did! So roomy!! I call it an infant car seat and am also in the Midwest!
woo! love to hear the atlas is working for you!
Same here! I was mixed between this, tahoe, mdx and atlas! Sooooo glad I went with the atlas for all the car seat room and leg room for our tall family! Plus, amazing storage space for 2 under 2!
Can you do one with the facelifted 2022 Volvo xc60? Please please!
Great review! 💐👍🏾👏🏾
Car mom, you go girl. 👸🏻
Love this review, thank you! The XC90 is on my list to test drive. I would love Mercedes GLE and GLS reviews as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. Never heard the term "pumpkin seat!" I'm in Seattle and I call them infant seats or bucket seats.
You should try the car at the dealership in Ravenna, best dealership in Seattle!
Omg I’ve been waiting for this one THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Always called it an infant carrier/seat and I’m from VA
Would love to see a tour of a Subaru Forester-just came out as #1 in Consumer Reports, so very curious if it works for moms.
great job reviewing this car. I am digging your reviews. Great work.
Can you also do a video on 2022/2023 XC90 Recharge?
Great realistic functional review. I considered this before my Atlas. Glad I chose the Atlas.
what made you choose atlas?
I liked that the Atlas had a V6 engine
Review the Tesla Model Y 7-seater
On her Instagram!
It s a 5 seater with a 3 row squeezed back to save money lol
I call the car seat and Infant car seat, currently in TX but I’ve lived both east and west coast 🤷🏼♀️ but I have been watching all your videos and plan on getting a new mom car. Which SUV’s would you recommend for tall people and rear facing car seats? I saw the Tahoe was a good option but I like something nicer on the inside and I’m having such a difficult time. I’ve only made it to 1 dealership in person and you should’ve seen the looks I was getting when I would put the car seat in the cars 😂 (it was a Mercedes dealership)
Go with the atlas! Go watch her video on it! I just bought one and I have two under two. The space is amazing with carseats and the price is amazing compared to the Tahoe! Plus better MPG
@@kasonsmom90 I did watch that video and I’m considering it! Only issue with living in TX the ceilings vents in the back is a necessity. I don’t have them in my grand Cherokee right now and I always have to start my car before I go in to try and cool it down before I load up my son.
@@kristinastahr8876 completely understand! It does have good air and cools pretty quickly! Could test it out at the dealership in the back seat to see how fast it cools off.
@@kasonsmom90 good idea!
I'm looking at this car and the Toyota Highlander
Im HERE FOR IT!!!
I’m so curious if anyone has tried putting 3 car seats across the middle row. I know there aren’t anchors but we normally use the seatbelt for our bucket seat (or pumpkin seat love that) anyways… we would have two convertibles (one forward and one rear facing) and a bucket seat.
I wasn't sure to buy the Inscription or the Momentum I ended up getting the momentum with the plus package. I am In love with my XC 90!!!!! Oh by the way this is my first video of yours watching. I subscribe to your channel!
There is a sticker right in the Mesa that shows the bar is to be tipped forward when driving so it acts as a rebound bar
Minnesotan here, I call it a bucket seat 🤷🏼♀️
So about the spider, I found this on design-milk: "Volvo’s Technology and Product Communications Manager Jim Nichols pointed out this most smile-inducing of hidden details located on the underside of the rear seat compartment lid. Structural requirements dictated a “spiderweb” pattern be used to reinforce the lid’s structure; Volvo’s designers decided to add a spider for the joy of surprise, converting a design necessity back to that of an act of intention."
I love your honesty!
We call that an infant seat in the UK. I ended up getting a Q7 over the Volvo on the basis of better child seating set up and also better engines
I looked at both. If you go apples to apples, the Q7 's cost is much higher. You should also be prepared for much higher maintenance costs.
Can you please do a video comparing luxury SUVs - or touring the Tesla (model X or 7-seater Y) and the BMW X7? Love your videos b/c they are the most useful for (2 under 2) moms!
Can you please do the Kia Carnival
I love this video! Keep up the good content!
I wanna see the fridge glovebox. Thats cool
My son wears size 5 diaper so I love that reference
Has anyone tried putting two rear facing seats side by side in row 2?
For the price it’s lacking compared to other vehicles. This was actually the vehicle I was looking at before I decided on the Expedition. This vehicle does not appear to be tall friendly, and no power fold-down, rear seat... big no for me. Stingy on the HP and torque too. That cooler glove box is really nice, but the cup holder size is a problem. This vehicle has too many “buts” for me. I believe Volvo is still unmatched in safety, that is a major plus.
You should look at the new Recharge version, 455hp and 523tq with a 0 to 60 just over 4.6 seconds. I'm personally a HUGE fan of manual fold-down seats, one less thing to break and it's waaay quicker. Also, Volvo believes in safety first. This is why, for example, the steering wheel adjustment is manual, so you don't get stuck in the car after a crash (in a situation where the electric stuff is broken). Same goes for the rear seat fold down being manual.
The seats in Volvos are the best in class for tall drivers. I have realized though that ergonomics are personal. I’m 6’3” and have a weird build. I go to show rooms and eliminate cars. In most brands I need the premium seat to be comfortable, and if that means I have to buy the top trim level, I explain they should be more accommodating to customers before leaving.
request for the Ford Explorer tour!
Would love to see a tour of the Chevy Traverse
Disgusting car
Wow extremely helpful when it comes to gaining insight into space. 70,000 ya shouldn’t be scrunched in the passenger seat. And that ordeal of getting the back seat back up from trunk is ridiculous. Again, 70,000 give us a strap if not auto move. Personally I’d prefer the strap (I don’t need auto or seat massagers) 🤣. Ty so much for your perspective give. Don’t stop
Looks like the old 2019 gearbox shift/gearstick lever? My previous XC90 had a double tap electronic selector, and so does my XC90 T8. 🤷🏾♂️
I love this Suv! This is my Dream Suv! It's so Classy!!( for me anyway)
I like the way you present things, (and man you talk fast) your eye for details, and your optic as a mom! besides that I have always loved Swedish cars and trucks (and boats, and planes... owned an old Saab for many years) I am a pickup-truck man and not very interested in cars, (just as a second vehicle if needed) but if I would have to choose between Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Toyota, Hyundai and Volvo, I would always choose VOLVO
Can you please review the new Tahoe and the traverse ☺️
Western Canada here and we call it a Bucket Seat!
the handle or "bar" should be moved back when driving, not upright up for carrying and certainly not forward where you didn't have the room.
I am 6’1 and one of my biggest beefs with my 2016 Ford Edge is that I am constantly hitting my head on the trunk when it’s open. I was trying to see if you had to duck with this car each time you went into the trunk but couldn’t tell.
I was going to buy this car for my wife, until she described everything as cute. In the rare case I need to drive the car, I don't need a cute and fabulous suv cramping my style.
Damn…you let insecurity make the decision for you?
@@galedribble9535 I ended up buying my wife a Audi Q7. No insecurity just preference. Have a nice life boot licker.
I just call it an infant seat.
Also, so glad I went with an Atlas and not this one! So much more room and much better price!
Such a beautiful car. My friend has one and loves it!!!
Fantastic vehicles ❤
I would love to see you review a 2021 Honda Pilot!! Love watching you!!
Coming soon!
@@TheCarMom I have narrowed my choices to the Kia Telluride and the Honda Pilot and can't wait to see your review of the Pilot. I drive a 2015 Honda Pilot and absolutely love it! I don't like the new design though and that really bothers me with the pilot. Can't wait for your review!! You are awesome!
