As this embed report reveals, the situation in Afghanistan is steadily deteriorating. In the past 12 months, over 6,000 Afghans have been killed. Troops are struggling to win over a hostile population.
"How do you turn a communities from bad to good?" ponders Lt Col Woods. Six years after the invasion, the rhetoric has changed. Soldiers no long talk about wiping out the Taliban or hunting down terrorists. Now, the buzz words are tactics of
counter insurgency. "We have to look constantly at ways to do it better and do it differently", states Woods. It's a difficult challenge.

@@jimreily7538 I was employed by the U.S forces as an interpreter in Forward Logistics Element Base on 2004-2006. I applied for the SIV program but still here in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. This SIV program takes a long time to be processed. I have recommendation letter and HR letter in my hand. As I think these documents may not be do anything after the U.S forces left HKIA on 31.Aug. I am scared and confused about my future. I don't have safe place to hide. I am not sure I could do this after the coalition forces evacuations. As you see in medias in here every wherever there is a threat. Now a days I heard these illiterate Taliban even killed the U.S forces allied interpreter brothers. What would you think if they do not even mercy on brothers or sisters of an interpreter would you think they will mercy on interpreters. May GOD bless every one. Thank you for asking my life condition.

i don’t get it US wants honesty for a pistol they found in a house? in USA every single person is allowed to have a pistil for safety so y cant these afghan people in such conditions and bad situation.
and i think US should be honest about going to war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

You're totally right, if i was a soldier I would be pissed. These 12 year olds don't know how it is over there, they don't know how their brothers die over there every day and what they're trying to accomplish won't come easy. These kids need to think before they leave bullshit comments.

A war that can not be won! Its the culture that the world needs to understand.
These people live for only one thing, and that is self respect. The way army was carrying out search operations, is quite enough to offend those simple people!

Hell yes this winter was cold there. I spent it in Logar province well above 6k ft. As a contractor I delt with the locals on a daily basis and became accutely aware of how easy it is for them to lie!..what ever benefits them...besides the old guy was Pashtun, ask the Taji and others what they think of the Pash.

@calypsobikes PS I am considerably older than you, child. It would also seem that you have no experience of life beyond the threshold of your front door, when you have, you can go around insulting people and talk about subjects you might have experience of.As for UK law, unlike US we have NO laws that start "Under part XX of law XYZ,you are permitted to etc" our legislation just tells the populace what it is illegal to do not what is legal, this gives the police free reign to arrest.we have no rights

This is just bullshit.....Americans are there to look for the leaders of Al-Qaeda!!! They just bother local people who have had these pistols and guns since long time. They used these pistols against Soviet Unions.......these pistols caused the Soviet Unions Collapse.......American troops should thank the people in one hand, and on the other hand they should respect these pistols as their bibles caz if these pistols were not there in Afghanistan ...America wouldn't be at this position......

Theres a difference between owning AK47 and simple riffles, or explosive and pistols. I spend almost a year Afghanistan, we spend more being shot at and not firing back, making sure prisoners get proper nutrition and health ensurance. I won't deny there seem to be corruption Afghan armored forces and police.

@silver760 I live in the US HA HA HA HA hahahahaha, I own several guns myself, in fact just went out shooting today with my AR15 my 30-06 and my 9mm pistol. Had loads of fun, so when you feel like you have had enough with UK Law, come to America, Its only 10x better than the UK! And I do have loads of experience beyond the threshold of my own front door. I work for a living and don't live off of the government handouts, like a good majority out there. Laws are not freedom, they help govern ppl.

  • @silver760

@calypsobikes I dont know about you but I know what is right from wrong, anyone with a sane mind could live in a lawless world. You know that what hurts you emotionally and physically is wrong and that you wouldn't want others to suffer in such a manner,so you are graceful to your fellow human beings. Those who are sick and have no morals are soon eliminated by the sane because they are seen as sub-human and sick. All laws could be replaced with just three and society would function perfectly,
