  • The Prostaglandin Analog class of glaucoma medications is generally well tolerated, but there are a number of cosmetic side effects that can be associated with their use.

Thank you Dr. Richardson for the "Driving with Dr. David" series. It is creatively presented and provides valuable information to those of us with glaucoma. My experience has been, though well intended, that many glaucoma specialists and their busy staff do not have the time to go in to detail and it is left to the patient to become informed and educated (I pray everyone takes this seriously enough to do so). So, THANK YOU for taking your commute time to enhance our ability to learn. I particularly appreciate your website and have begun taking many of the supplements the site presents as additional support to my existing eye drop therapies. I highly appreciate you!

      Thank you Catherine!
It is, indeed, a challenge to convey the appropriate amount of information necessary during a time-limited in-office exam. Given that I can barely discuss each of these topics in 10 min (forget about the UA-cam recommended 5 minutes) you can appreciate the difficulty doctors and their staff face with each and every patient visit. If my videos can fill in some of that gap then I am grateful for that.
I'm glad you have also found my website informative. I'm hoping to take some of the content about supplements and discuss these popular topics in future videos. The next few videos, however, will be on prescription therapies for glaucoma. Hoping to post at least one every 2-3 weeks. Although the time it takes to record these videos is more or less the time it takes me to commute, the preparation of the videos for posting is far more time consuming.
      Best,
      David Richardson, MD

Thank you very much Dr. David R. You are the best, your videos are truly helping us alot. Thank you!
I will like to know why a particular drug working perfectly well on the left eye but fails to work on the right eye of thesame patient. For instance Xalatan is able to bring down my IOP on my left eye from 28 to 14 mmhg. Where as it fails to work on my right eye the pressure remains 28 mmhg. What is the possible explanation to this phenomenon? Thank you.

As castor oil also affects prostaglandins, cause castor oil in products such as eye balms for moisturizing also cause prostaglandin associated periorbitopathy?

Thanks for the information. My IOPs are in the 22 - 23 range and I am currently taking Vyzulta once every evening. Do you think taking twice a day might prove even better? Cosopt twice a day and pilo 3 times /day are also part of the regime. Diagnosed 30 years ago. Thanks again!!

Hello. Do you think that this drug is suitable for hair regrowth of the scalp?

While I am very happy to have my vision, the side effects are very depressing. The dark circles are bad enough but the sunken eyes are so aging. I already had severe dry eyes and now they are even worse from these drops
