You made the door card reinstallation look easy. Someone broke my window and I replaced it, and getting that mounted correctly was the hardest part of it all.
What do you mean by the door card? I'm glad you were able to get it done!
@@AZOverland2017 the panel that has the window switches, door handle, etc that pops on. Getting it seated where there wasn't a huge gap in the felt between the glass was a challenge!
@@sa1126 OK got it, the door panel. For future reference, with most vehicles, angle the bottom of the panel up (out) and seat the top of the panel in the window section first. Once that's in Give that top section a few taps down with your hand to seat it, then you van start to clip in the rest of the panel
Nice job! I found myself in the exact same situation - had to break window to catch a flight on vacation. You video save my hundreds! Thank you buddy!
Glad it helped
Just did the same thing on a camping trip last weekend and was worried I wouldn't be able to do it myself. Glad to see that it is possible, thanks!!
Sucks that I had to break it but happy it was relatively inexpensive to fix and pretty straightforward. Good luck. Just take your time fitting it back in, it will eventually get there.
@@AZOverland2017 any experience with installing remote start/phone capable unlocking
@@Firedog_Alpha No sir, haven't done it on the 4Runner
Good to know that it is not too big of a task
Probably a 30 minute job without videoing
Nicely done! I am sure it is only a matter of time before I lock the keys in my car ha ha!
Ha. At least I have a backup plan now
Nice! Can't wait to replace my door handle that my dog chewed up. See you in about a month!
Yes, when you are in AZ next let me know and I will take care of that for you!
Thanks for the video my little window broke on the way home from work just driving down the street around 51st Avenue and Cactus And heard a loud pop and realized that small window was shattered. I have no idea what caused it but your videos going to help me. Thanks
Wow, that's weird. Luckily it's a pretty inexpensive and easy replacement.
Yep I did the same thing locked my car with the garage button in the car shut my garage no cell phone or keys to the house on me or wallet so Brock my vent glass window on my Dodge Caliber to push the garage button so I could get back in my house lol 😂
Ahhh, the humility
That was great thank you so much. I live in Tennessee and my a/c went out and I run a lawn care business out of it during the summer. It gets pretty hot here in TN. I'm wondering if it is necessary take the bottom bolt out? Why can't you just unscrew the top and lube the gasket, gently pull the the bar over and slip it in? My 4RUNNER has 250,000 on it. I have other issues to work out. I have no radio and various other issues. It still starts even with a jacked up ignition key again another story. Funny thing is it'll only start for me. Hey as long as I can start it hey I am subbing your channel. Thanks
I appreciate the feedback and thanks for subbing! I'm not sure if it is possible but I would try it out first. I'm thinking that the way the door panel slips over the metal lip of the door on the top side that it may be too tight to get the glass with gasket down far enough. If you do end up having to remove the door panel, those lower bolts are right there. I seemed to have gotten just a little extra room by loosening/removing them which may have been the deciding factor of having the window fit. It is tight. Please report back if you are successful
@@AZOverland2017 Thanks, By the way yours looks sweet. I can see having the extra extra room. Thanks again for the feedback
I had to remove all three bolts and completely free the window support bar in order to make enough space to get the vent window in. Note: once you do that you will need to pull away the plastic so that you can put your hand in the door to reposition the main window track. But it also lets you align the bolt holes once again. I simply couldn't create enough room by keep any bolt in that bar/track. Took me just over an hour
@@jbegley1167 It was definitely tight not taking that 3rd bolt out but I was able to get it in. Probably would have been easier to remove it however with other vehicles when you free a window track it sometimes creates a headache to realign the glass back in the the track. My goal was to keep it mostly together and find the most efficient way to do this job. Luckily it ended up working for me. Thanks for your feedback.
Funny you had to break into your car when camping. I just got home from a camping trip where I used the key to close the back window and went to the back door where I set my key on the seat. Then I went to open the front door, which was locked, and my back door closed enough to latch but not seal. My old 2001 4 Runner would unlock if I pushed the ajar door shut, but my 2016 model doesn't, so my key was on the back seat, and the car was locked. The drivers' side window was the best one to break since I didn't want glass to get on the passenger side. Thanks for showing me how to fix it. I appreciate you making my mistake first, so you could teach me how to fix it myself.
Ahh. Glad you got on though. We were able to actually get a wire in the window to push on the Unlock button but it kept relocking itself immediately. Weird
Note to self, order a spare window now... :))
fyi the smallest glass on your car is the most expensive.
It was about $40, not too bad
Just purchased this same window through toyota for $50 shipped
@@nikosantore6141 That's a good price shipped, especially for an OEM parts. Nice job👍
@@AZOverland2017 I was super happy! Thanks for posting this video. Big help.
