Great question! For the cast on, we used a long tail cast on and for the bind off we used a regular pass over bind off. Both the cast on and bind off are worked in just the main color!
HI Silvia! While we do not have a video for the set-up row, we are happy to help! Using the main color, you will *k1, YOS, repeat from * to last stitch, k1. For the YOS, you will bring your yarn forward, slip 1 purlwise, bring yarn over right needle. I hope that this helps!
1:00 - 1:07 To save you unnecessary movements of the working needle, you can slip the yarn-overs just as you finish knitting your stiches instead doing it individually, can't you? And thanks for this two-colour tutorial. I have known (and used) this stitch for a very long time but often wondered how to manage it with two colours. Thanks to you, I now know I just need a pair of double pointed (or round) knitting needles for that. 🙂
Hello! We actually demonstrate the first stitch of each row in the video, but for quick reference, here's what we did: Row 1: Slip 1 Row 2: Knit 1 Row 3: Slip 1 Row 4: Knit 1 Hope this helps!
Yes, you will need to do a set-up row, and the set-up row is exactly the same as a typical brioche stitch set-up row. You just alternate k1 and YOS stitches! You can find the set-up row written out in the pattern that this video is meant to accompany: www.purlsoho.com/create/2018/02/12/latticework-wrap/
Here's a fun, free pattern showing brioche stitch, knit flat! www.purlsoho.com/create/2020/10/07/brioche-scarf-in-worsted-twist/ And here's a full collection of patterns using brioche, some flat, some circular! Enjoy! www.purlsoho.com/create/tag/brioche-stitch/
I understand to you all is in order in this video. But to me and others I only wonder WHY you could not have started your swatch from the beginning? Also if you have kids, wld you give them half of wht ur teaching them? This is not to offend u, at all, u cld be a fine teacher if u remember everything has a beginning and knitting to understand, must come from the starting point.
Thank you for reaching out about this! We can absolutely see how starting from the very beginning would be useful for many people, and we're so sorry that this video doesn't include those steps. We'll share your feedback our design team so they can keep it in mind for all of our future videos. In the meantime, we'd love to help you get started! To begin this stitch, you can use your preferred cast-on method. We used a long tail cast-on (www.purlsoho.com/create/long-tail-cast-on/). Then, you'll work one set-up row as described in the Latticework Wrap pattern, which is a pattern that this video is meant to accompany: www.purlsoho.com/create/2018/02/12/latticework-wrap/. This set-up row consists of regular knit stitches alternated with YOS stitches. The YOS slip stitch is demonstrated in Rows 2 and 4 of this pattern, as well as in our brioche stitch tutorial: www.purlsoho.com/create/brioche-stitch/. I hope this helps you learn this stitch pattern, and please let me know if you have any other questions!
I really love your instructions; however, please light up the working area better. It's really difficult to see certain aspects in a shadowy work area with grey on grey. Thanks.
What the heck.. how often HAS IT BEEN SAID.. that all who has asked for it to be shown from after the cast on, what don't you understand? Honestly it is called common sense! Frustration abounds with this person. This is me being brutally honest and for as long as I run across this person's instructions, it does not change. 😵💫🥴
I think it would be nice to see how to start this from the beginning.
I agree. There has to be some kind of set up to get this started. This video by itself is pretty useless :(
Exactly.
She says 'let's start row 1 with the dark yarn..... Step 1, pick up from the previous row.....' erm, we have no previous row chick! 😅
It's a free patterns on their website. The link is in the description. It tells you how to set up.
Explanation is very clear....how is the cast on and bind of of this scarf? Will there be a videotutorial about that?
Great question! For the cast on, we used a long tail cast on and for the bind off we used a regular pass over bind off. Both the cast on and bind off are worked in just the main color!
Thank you. It can make or break....
But you didn't explain how to add the second color.
This is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing it with us!
And the begining?
Great stitch and tutorial. Is it possible for you to explain the set-up row, after casting-on?

Purl Soho would this be in the right side or the wrong side?
But i don't understan how i bigen this stitch can you help me please ?!
Purl Soho thank very much! I truly admire your work.
The set-up row will be worked on the wrong side!

Hi Mario, yes, you can absolutely do those two things in one motion!
@@PurlSoho
Pleased to hear that! 🙂

This is such a gorgeous stitch! Thanks so much for this video :)
Wow thank you. I was looking for this tutorial.
How are you knitting the edge stitches?
Hello! We actually demonstrate the first stitch of each row in the video, but for quick reference, here's what we did:

Row 2: Knit 1
Row 3: Slip 1

doesn't row 1 need a set row?? If you are starting row 1 there would not be any yarn overs there would there???

Thank you for this tutorial. I was wondering, what if I wanted to use 3 colours? Any suggestions?

it would be really to useful to include the setup row in this tutorial. this is not a helpful as it could be. a bit disappointed actually.
