Creating wealth entails establishing positive routines, I had only $78k to my name at 42 when I first woke up to this reality. I chose the stock market as a medium of growth, got an excellent financial advisor, Financial management is a vital subject that many avoid, often leading to future regrets.
Indeed, currently I'm managing my finances wisely and being frugal. In the last 19 months, my investments grew by 43%, adding over $500K in profits. However, I've had losses in the past month, making me anxious. I'm unsure whether to sell everything or wait.
No doubt, having the right plan is invaluable, my portfolio is well-matched for every season of the market and recently hit 100% rise from early last year. I and my CFP are working on a 7 figure ballpark goal, tho this could take till Q3 2024.
This is definitely considerable! think you could suggest any professional/advisors i can get on the phone with? i'm in dire need of proper portfolio allocation
I've met well off people who are completely out of touch. I've seen people drop more than my monthly salary on material goods, then discard those playthings when they get bored of them. It's not even infuriating. I just can't wrap my head around it.
It goes both directions. I know many people I know earning way less than me that have the latest version phone, stream every service under the sun, dine out/drink a few times a week , always get the current series PlayStation/Xbox and get the biggest cutting edge TV, but here I am sitting in the living room in my purchased house streaming this Moon video on the base model Roku on my 2006 Samsung DLP HDTV and my 3 paid off cars.
So depressing how poor I really am! 51K a year, living in Boston, I need to somehow double that just to have a chance! Prob. be even worse for my daughter when she grows up.
Try to find a remote American job and move to Europe/Asia. Your American paycheck is still double than what Europeans and Asians make, so your savings will grow rapidly over there. Or try to find a different job in US that pays more. Or, final option, just accept that 90% of people live mediocre lives and earn mediocre wages, you and me and many others are part of those 90% and there is nothing wrong with that.
Assets are things that generate income. If it’s not producing it’s not and asset. More than likely it’s costing you to have it. Hence it’s a liability.
Not only are you surrounded by assets, you ARE an asset. Generating wealth for your boss, your country and your elite. What YOU get is just the crumbs they leave you so you don‘t become feral.

His response was "Well, you walked right by it coming here." He the took her over to to the window and pointed down to the street and said, "See that Ford Mustang parked there?" She looked shocked.
The "I drive a normal car" interviews from rich people are almost always staged. Look up how many wealthy people have made that exact video, only to later find out that the whole "interview" was staged.
It's weird.. there are a fair number of rich people that like to cosplay as normal. Usually for cameras. They know that normal people can't relate to them, so it makes them more popular.
@shaunpearce6846 I really don't think so. They don't want to attract attention to themselves in public. Besides, unlike movie stars and celebrities, they have nothing to prove to anyone. My dad onced worked at a hospital where there was a wealthy doctor that had a fancy and super expensive Rolles Royce. One day my dad noticed noticed that a new, but average car was in the doctor's parking spot. My dad asked the doctor what happened to his Rolles. The doctor told my dad that several times it had been vandalized, tires slashed, door keyed, antenna and mirrors broken off, tail light broken, etc. He said it cost an arm and and a leg to fix, so he got a regular car and left his Rolls in the garage. After that, the vandalism stopped. Back in 1995 I got a brand new Eddie Bowyer Ford Explorer. Two times people tried to run me off the road. Once with my wife. When I finally got the regular tags and replaced those white paper tags the dealer puts on it all stopped.
The difference is that the million dollar art can be sold for a couple of 100k more in 10 years, where the 1000 dollar art is to be found on craigslist for 10% of the original price, catching dust because no one is buying.
But the actual quality of the art isn't much different. Just the million dollar art has some hype to it. Good marketing. Somehow convinced the rich idiots it's worth something. Doesn't make a lit of sense.
Yeah, seems like the difference between $120 art made by some poor Chinese or Japanese has more value than multi millions museum piece in US. Like, as if they were collateral certificates instead of a painting.

Johnny Harris did this same video 3 months ago, it was massively better and I highly recommend it to anyone that liked this one. it’s actually worse. 1:57 you took off 16% for tax. Well, the federal tax bracket for $50,000 is 22%. and then there’s State, City, Social Security & Medicare. Then there’s healthcare. So, they means the $10,000 you calculated to be left over doesn’t exist.
Poor is the default for all beings, we are all born naked and with nothing. Some manage by skill or circumstance to have more. It is a truth of the universe. Yes, attaining wealth is multiplicative. This is also a truth of the universe. Fame works in much the same way. The more famous a person becomes the more opportunities there are for increased fame. A city that can attract people with wealth will grow as it attracts more people for the economic opportunities, thus growing it's economy and attracting more wealth.
More people need to understand that poverty is the natural state. It’s that now we actually have so many channels to gain wealth that people have started to think that’s natural, and they’re upset that they aren’t. As if life cheated them out of being an anomaly to all of human history
So people shared before there were rich individuals? So I guess wars were fought for fun, since they were already willingly sharing land, resources, etc
Advice for those who don't want to buy new shoes every year. Get yourself a comfortable pair of military combat boots(preferable European ones). I wear mine since 7 years now. Sole is like new, water can't get in until reaching almost the top, nails, glass etc. can't get through, you'll have a steel cap at the toes, at the back and in the sole. A car can drive over, and you'll totally fine! Most soles are also resistant against fuel, acid and electricity to a certain degree. Some boot's sole is even made in a way, you can't charge yourself by walking. Price in Euros is about 80€ for a new pair, and they keep working fine for like 20 years. btw, there also combat boots which doesn't look like that, for those who don't want to an eye-catcher :P
I just by inco boots.....they are pretty strong as well. Sometimes it feels shity seeing Peaple my age 20/21 by nice expensive things but i don't have that luxury 😅. I can't even afford a top notch computer to do research with , sorry if I'm rambling i just needed to drop this off my chest. Thank you for the advice.

I don’t want to be massively rich. I want to be able to afford a house within the first 3 years working, retire at 35 and focus on starting a business, further education and charitable contributions to my community
Yeah, so you want to be massively rich because that is what it takes to do that. I know it may not seem to be massively rich, but if you look at it comparatively, it is actually massively rich.
You're assuming tax rate is same for all wages. In most countries especially in europe taxes rise to about 50 percent at higher rate and you get most government benefits taken away so barrier to having a high quality life is getting higher and higher. With ageing population it will only increase over time
So true. Wages in isome occupations are the same or 20% less than in 2005. Meanwhile the cost of living bas quadrupled and quality of life is plummeting 😢
Whenever I see a someone very much wealthier than me I remind myself of two things. We're all of us without question going to end up as "worm food" one day and you can't take it with you ( although I admit it would be nice to have it in the first place! ha ha! ). I'd much rather leave some art or writing I created so someone can find out who I was and what I did 250 years from now. I traced my own family back to 1725, a small Scottish village and family of poor farmers. I know who and where I'm from. No one will care about these rich people, they'll try to leave a legacy but it's usually something so vulgar that people will destroy it 'cos there's a lot of brokem and damaged tombs in the graveyard no one cares about!
How can you take US average salary, and then look at most expensive cities in the country? You should look at average salary of those cities when looking at the cost of living in those cities.
An average salary of $50k per year in the US? Damn, that's equivalent to 5-6 years of work at the average salary in my country, without spending a penny!
How much does it cost to rent an apartment in your country? It costs about 660$ to rent a one bedroom in my town, and we're extremely lucky to get that price
5-6? In mine (local currency pegged to the euro at 1² the value) earning 50 k is probably 13ish years with above average job ....funniest part is that since foreigners invest here in property , the prices there are on average 120 to 200 k euro per 1 to 2 room apartments. I can't ever earn enough even for a half broken down house 40 mins from the town im in because they cost more than what ill earn without spending anything for 20 years ahead . As for the country - bulgaria , invest away
The most important thing is your quality of life, which is largely determined by you income to cost of living ratio. Even if you work for google and make over $100,000, you'll still end up living in an apartment with roommates if you're forced to live in Silicon Valley (one of the most expensive locations to live). I met a tech guy urs like that.
Real wealth is not power or material things, it's actually how connected you are to nature, your health, and how much you know about existence itself (wisdom).
@leonrobinson8180 no one is making you pay bills, you do it voluntarily think about it. Find a way to minimize expenses and maximize your time and do what matters to you
Why start at $50k when 12% of Americans live at or below the poverty level, which is less than half of that? We just going to ignore that massive demographic?
Something in my head has flipped as of late. I wouldn't want that that level of hyper-wealth, it's revoltingly arrogant and self-indulgent, cringe. I am suspicious of anyone wanting or enjoying that kind of life. It means there is something fundamentally wrong with you, desiring power and status over others to feel whole. Makes one into an ass-whole. That also makes you a threat to the liberty of others, commodifying the Commons and reducing everyone else to Serfs and slaves. That never ends well.

If you have no skills to better that position why would it be the fault of the system...That is probably why you are not among the rich. You make yourself slave.

So depressing how poor I really am! 51K a year, living in Boston, I need to somehow double that just to have a chance! Prob. be even worse for my daughter when she grows up.
There is no path. Working hard means nothing if you dont know the right people. If you knew those people, you would already be rich.
And yet your daughter will have an easier life than any male her equal.
If you're poor, why bring children into a life of poverty and then complain they are poor? What did you expect?
Consider moving to a cheaper state. Probs have a safer and better lifestyle if you like the outdoors/ nature.
Once you have a million in the bank, your interest alone is nearly the salary of an average American.
Crazy how you’re living in poverty even though you’re surrounded by assets
..debt isn't an asset
Assets are things that generate income. If it’s not producing it’s not and asset. More than likely it’s costing you to have it. Hence it’s a liability.
Not only are you surrounded by assets, you ARE an asset. Generating wealth for your boss, your country and your elite. What YOU get is just the crumbs they leave you so you don‘t become feral.

The other big costs are groceries and general cost of living. 50 years ago, someone on my equivalent salary would've been very well off. I'm still better off than most, but I've busted my ass to have a "little" more than most.
