I just wanna say that one reason why Minecraft's so colorful despite having 20% grayish blocks is because the color stays in the surface. Go spelunking and you're now mostly surrendered by that 20%.
Might wanna check your audio levels. Seems a bit lower than I was expecting. Still. Really think these.... Intellectual style videos are a really valuable resource. This actually feels like I'm learning something and not just being entertained by the current popular aesthetics in the "minecraft community." Gradients today and then maybe next 5 years we get "clashing color pallets" as the new "good building."
I know that my audio levels are a bit weird in this video :'D I only noticed it after upload. I usually edit a bit quieter, so I dont blast my ears off, but this time, my computer was on max volume, and I didn't realise. :'D Also, thank you for watching and enjoying my video :D
Your Videos are just getting better with every new one! Also i think its a rly cool idea to Show the variaty of Blocks by painting paintings in minecraft!
The music that starts at 3:59 is “Deliberate Thought” by Kevin Macleod, which TobiWanK3nobi used in his last two Inspiration Texture Pack showcase videos years ago. 3:59 in this video is also where the word “Inspiration” pops up on screen. Connection?
"It's not like minecraft screenshots look fundamentally different depending on when they are taken" I feel like this isn't really true. Obviously there's the change in blocks/textures/colours like you said, but there's also changes to lighting, fog and other graphics that can make certain time periods feel very distinct. Whenever I see an old screenshot I like to try and work out roughly when it might've been taken, based on those sorts of features. Same goes for old chunks, you can try to work out what version they were generated in based on the terrain features. Fun stuff, cool video.
Well, yeah, you are right. There are other factors that can help to determine the age of a screenshot. I just mean the screenshot file as a png. Which I guess thinking more deeply about is kinda just the "standard" (well, yes, JPG exists and probably many more) way to save images nowadays generally. I could have specified what I mean exactly in the video. What I basically mean is that the world looks different in some way, but the screenshot itself (at least to my knowledge) stayed basically the same over the minecrafts lifetime. For example, if I take a screenshot in alpha or modern, it's always gonna be a png. :D Anyway, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed and watched my video, and thank you for your comment! :D
I think this is true, but is a separate concept from the idea in the video and coexists. The concept in the video is a lot more impactful though for actual builds and not just unmodified generation screenshots.
@@GoAway- god someones quoting that guy from like 6 months ago. I like his ideas, but his executions of said Ideas weren't the best and still need to be improved. :,D
Minecraft seriously lacks in the "cold" colors, especially blue and purple. But also it "surprisingly" lacks in white color! Not bright gray, not light yellow, like birch, but WHITE. Quartz is basicly the only true white block that has variety of shapes and good for building, and even it doesn't have walls. Then goes diorite - I don't hate it, I think it's a nice block, but it's not really white. Then there is white concrete (that's actually light gray) and wool - both have only the full blocks - no stairs, no slabs, no walls or fences. P.S I seriously need white planks!

Representing the color space of minecraft as a 3D graph where position is color group is genius.

didn't know the wool textures were changed in release 1.2, the differences are so subtle that I can barely tell even when comparing side by side.
Yeah, I thought it was kinda impossible to see a difference. Okay, maybe with the yellow wool a little bit?? I'm not sure, tho. :)
i don't mind all the gray blocks, i just wish we had more textural variety, like "stone pillars" would be very cool
Yeah kinda what they did with tuff blocks? I think that one has a pillar variant. :)
