you mention the 2" of board to keep your hips up, but when I was in high school and college it seemed like the penultimate step you slightly dropped your hips to get more drive off of the plant foot. Is what you're talking about only for that form, or is it only to keep the hips high before the penultimate? I wasn't a great long jumper. I only did it my freshman year in college and hit slightly over 22'.
