- In this episode of #TalkingTimepieces we take a hands-on look at a $500 fake #Rolex #Daytona, a #watch that may look like the real deal, but isn't even a real #chonograph! There are better fakes out there, but this is the kind of #fakewatch you see pretty much everywhere. It is because of #watches like this that real Rolex owners always get asked if theirs is fake.

I’ve never seen a fake Rolex in person, but I don’t have enough experience to know what one should look for. So if there was a really good fake out there, I’d probably be fooled. One of the fears I’ve had about buying a Rolex on the secondary market is getting ripped off with a fake and not being sophisticated enough to know the difference.

When I was in Dubai for a few months on a military deployment (2009), I ran into a lot of people selling fakes on every corner. I wear never tempted to buy one. I had my eye on a real Omega Seamaster that, at the time, was about $5k. However, having two little girls I could not allow myself to spend that kind of money on a watch.

Wow, another horrible replica. No a good replica will run you 800-1k and you would need a jewelers loop to make sure it’s not genuine
Fakes like this represent 90% of the fakes market, not mentioning making fake watches is a criminal activity
Gosh, that just amazes me, Alix. I'm still stunned to learn (and I'm just getting into the hobby) that the entire 'fake timepiece production' industry even exists. And even for me, a 'tenderfoot', looking at that movement I can tell it's junk. Hell, I've got Timex's that the movements look hundreds of times better. Thanks again for another great episode! There's a watch by a brand named Sugess that I don't totally hate. It's called the S418-2, and what's interesting about it is that it uses a legal (patent-expired) clone of the Rolex 4130, made by a company named Peacock. The movement looks relatively clean and adequately machined, and it's a good homage watch option for those who absolutely need to scratch the Daytona itch.

I don’t know if true but I have heard that they have small factories hidden away and that most of the workers used are children because of their small hands. Not very nice!!

There may be better fakes out there? Absolutely are better fakes out there. This fake Rolex is obviously fake. Please review a super clone instead. This is pretty common knowledge that you were putting out on this video.
There are "better" fakes out there. But as I pointed out, those fakes are as rare as the watches they attempt to copy. $500 fakes are everywhere.
Hi I know what your saying about being a fake but what’s wrong with a guy like me that always wanted to own a Rolex but I know I could never afford one so what’s wrong with someone buying a good fake if that’s all they can they afford I see no harm in it
The problem is that fakes are a lie. And criminal. I didn't buy my first Rolex until I was in my 50's. Buy an homage, or better yet a cool watch like a Bulova Devil Diver or Lunar Pilot, or Seiko 5 GMT, or a Hamikton Khaki Field...
There is fakes out there that are identical in movement and everything the details etc. Saw them myself in Hong Kong but they are expensive. A Submariner was 2500 dollars. The best fakes are made in Hong Kong.

@@TalkingTimepieces its scary how legit the fakes look from Hong Kong had my original Submariner with me and it was identical to the one I saw in Hong Kong, no difference, it was spot on, they have highly trained professionals that has worked in the industry to make it similar. Maybe the movement is not as good but its very difficult to spot it even if you open it up. You really need to know the specific model in and out. That is why I never buy my watches from anyone else then the direct source, we never know where these fakes end up.
