Not in any significant way, as far as the pronunciation of the regional varietes is concerned, the influence of technology and of the social networks, though, has expanded the vocabulary.
very good explanation! Congratulations! I think the Kachru theory is getting more acceptable around the world to understand how the English Language Teacher has its paradigm shifted. We always watch some video on UA-cam with a speech like "Hey, come on speak English like a native!", that is terrible! I think we can find a standard English model to guide us. It would help. But, I don't need to speak like someone from Texas, Chicago, California. Is the American English a Língua Franca? of course not! But, the English language is an international language today! The question is: Which one is lingua franca, American English? British Englis? Is there any standard English between them? An international English? We need to think about it! IoI
@@naheenisapoet69 I say its "my language" in the context it's my native language And many languages have loan words from other languages, such as French words may be found in Spanish, spanish words in Italian and so on etc etc
To be honest, your video has helped me much more than an entire semester of university. 😅
It's been 10 years since this video was published. I wonder how much things have changed. I'd love to see a follow-up

Being english by birth, I am spoilt, everybody speaks my language
