Right around 2:43 you can see the bass start up when Dusty isn't even hitting the strings. I don't mind at all that he's actually playing along to backing tracks because it creates a fuller richer sound, but they seriously have to hide this better.
Haha yes I agree. ZZ Top has been playing along with backing tracks and prerecorded vocals for a long time, which is actually okay with me because they need a fuller sound due to only being a three-man band, and unfortunately Billy Gibbons voice is kind of shot these days. Ordinarily Billy Gibbons is flawless with his lip-synching. But I’ve noticed an obvious mistake with pearl necklace on this tour. On several performances of it here on UA-cam, he seems to forget the “howl” at the end of the song and actually moves his mouth far away from the microphone when it occurs, which is an obvious giveaway that it is a prerecorded vocal.
