    Dr, Fuhrman is a national hero. It's sobering to consider how much longer the average American's lifespan and healthspan would be, if we followed his advice.

      White rice has a healthy omega 6 to omega 3 ratio while brown rice does not have a healthy ratio. Beans and potatoes have a good ratio but many nuts and seeds other than walnuts and flaxseed have an unhealthy ratio. This is where McDougall shines over Fuhrman. Fuhrman shines over McDougall by stressing the cancer healing advantages of foods such as berries, greens, broccoli, mushrooms, celery, and carrots.

    Thank you for sharing all of this. I am currently reading your book ‘Eat to Live’. I was diagnosed with high Cholesterol and had a very bad experience with Cholesterol medication which I stopped on my own and every symptom that I lived with for over a year was gone in less than two weeks. During the past year I saw many Medical Specialist and had many tests and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. I think they thought this was in my head. Recently I met with a new Cardiologist who advised me to start eating a Plant Base meal plan. I started at the beginning of January making small changes and I think I got this. I am half way with reading your book and i am amazed how much you have taught me. Please know that I am very grateful. 😊❤️

    Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly.
    Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly.
    Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch.
    Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun.
    Every city should be a bicycle city.
    Speak up for bicycles in your community.

    I have a huge issue digesting beans. It causes horrible cramping and pain and diarrhea. I have tried eating them for months despite these symptoms but the pain never stops disproving the enzyme theory at least for me. I have tried soaking them too. :( any advice?

    • @savydude1
      @savydude1 4 роки тому +2

      Ya don't eat them.....Veganism is not very healthy unless you are genetically gifted to be able to get enough nutrition from plants alone.

    • @savydude1
      @savydude1 4 роки тому +2

      Let me tell you how it will go if you eat them, you will have stomach problems, inflamation of the gut, then poor skin, then anxiety/emotional/mood problems, then anemia and low libido. Just watch a few ex-vegan videos there are numerous stories of the ill effects of the diet and they are all very similar.

    • @Tarawater18
      @Tarawater18 4 роки тому +4

      after you soak them, cook them with a piece of seaweed and if you are cooking stovetop, skim off the foam that forms. See if that helps. Beans will help with prebiotic formation and thus help your gut. You have to keep eating them until your body creates good gut bacteria.

    • @m.taylor

      I stick with legumes that take the shortest time to cook since they are easier to digest, such as lentils and split peas; and I only eat a small amount, about a quarter to half a cup a few times a week.
      Occasionally I will cook the other types of beans and with a piece of kelp, as Tara mentioned, along with adding a quarter teaspoon of baking soda to the cooking beans in order to soften them. Maybe you are allergic to something in beans.

    • @crystalriver7772
      @crystalriver7772 4 роки тому +3

      Dr. Fuhrman I’ve heard says cook 2 hours if need be to be very well cooked. He said if you need to, only eat 2 tablespoons a day which is very little and let your system adjust. I’m doing that right now for a little while and my stomach is not reacting at all to 2 tablespoonful if black beans. Try it and good luck!

      They balance blood sugar levels so yes yes yes
      Beans are a diabetes super food. The American Diabetes Association advises people with diabetes to add dried beans or no-sodium canned beans to several meals each week. They are low on the glycemic index and can help manage blood sugar levels better than many other starchy foods.
