Okay Ian. I gave in. I read The Gunslinger last year and thought it was fine- 3 stars. Decided to listen to the Drawing of Three last week at work. Immediately 4.5 stars. Drove to Barnes yesterday to get The Wastelands because I need it in my brain hole. Read 120 pages in one sitting and would’ve kept going tonight if I didn’t work tomorrow. You convinced me to continue it. And for that, thank you.
@@SHDDUPINEEDTHISSSS mainly when I don’t feel like it deserves the next star up I’ll do halves. I have my rating system written down and 99% of books fall on the scale. My .25 ratings are found by comparisons. For example Tress of the emerald sea by Brandon Sanderson was an easy 5 star. I really enjoyed the frugal wizards handbook to surviving medieval England by him as well. However, it was not Tress level. So it got a 4.75. Usually I just know based on vibes. Like ya this book was really great but it wasn’t as good as this other book that I gave the next star up.
I did a 24 hour (with sleeping) reading challenge recently and also for some reason chose the largest books rather than a bunch of short ones. I think maybe I'll log it by pages, not books, next time so I can feel more ✨accomplished✨ haha
Next thing u know, we’re gonna see Ian doing reading for 100 hours 😭. Nobody works like u Ian thank you so much. You MAKE ME wanna read! God bless brother, all the love ❤
Picked up assassins apprentice today and am on chapter 4 already. Im loving the writing a lot and am so excited to get further into this world! Hearing people talk about how much they love this trilogy genuinely has me excited to see where it goes.
Stephen King question. I read IT as my first King. And there was a LOT of endless rambling. Like pages and pages about Bill and his bike for example. Or side characters that aren't crucial to the story yet we get a whole chapter from them. Are all his works like that? Because I do find myself not caring. It could have easily been 300-400 pages shorter and been fantastic.
He is known for his skill in character building. He spends a lot of time developing their internal thoughts, motivations, and emotions, which helps to create a strong connection between the characters and the audience. This deep character development is one of the reasons his stories are so compelling ❤
Maybe you would like his more “normal sized” books better, they have fewer side characters. Like the shining, Carrie or the mr mercedes trilogy for example ❤
Thanks for posting this.. I am on holiday from work next week and I was thinking about re-trying my failed attempt earlier in the year at a 24 hour continual challenge… you reminded me how terrible I felt last time, so I’m not going to do it.. I shall just read and enjoy lol.. good effort xx Ps I LOVE insomnia! Sorry it wasn’t your fav
I just finished Assassin's Quest at the beginning of the month. Such a great trilogy. I've got my eye on Live Ship Traders for my next trilogy, but also want to read The Wisdom of Crowds, which is on my TBR for this month. Great fun watching you torture yourself in the name of art. 😂😂
Also heck yes. Finallllly picked up empire of silence! Honestly so wild you read through the night like that 😂 such an ambitious way to read that dense book. The second book is where the series picks up so much steam. Stoked to gear your final thoughts
I really didn’t like the ending of assasins quest that much, but I hear that is more common. People love it or hate it. But the trilogy as a whole is good!
So glad you loved Assassin’s Quest. Loads of people seemed to hate it, whereas I loved it. Reading the live ship traders at the moment. They’re good, but can’t wait to get back to Fitz
I also started my farseer trilogy recently… and I will be finishing that puppy as soon as my TBR permits. But it jumped up so much. Book two is coming immediately after my current Malazan chonker. So awesome you’re loving your experience with it. Just gets me more even more excited to get into it
I want to try and do a challenge like this so bad, since I'm back into reading a little bit. But we've also been sooo busy and still adjusting to life .. plus I'm behind on my own videos. I have maybe 10 to edit. 😅 Also, you accomplished so much more reading than I thought!
Have you read Murderbot? It's not your normal read (in that the books are almost all novellas) but it's so good and I want more people to read it so I can see their reactions. It's been my obsession for the last few weeks.
I am currently sick right now with a few days off. Once I stop feeling so nausous I might try this challenge to try to get through what is generally agreed upon as the 2 slowest books in WoT, book 9 and 10. Since I am sick the challenge will be rest as much as possible, get a little fresh air and food, and read whenever I feel good enough to. Hopefully, I can at least get through Winter's Heart.
I love Stephen King, been reading his books since I was a teenager, but Insomnia is the first one I actually hated. It bored the crap out of me. I haven't read the Dark Tower yet, so I might give it another shot after that.
So. I Like Sun Eater - BUT I'm with you. I'm going through it VERY slowly. I enjoy when I read but it's one of the slowest books I've read in a long time.
Love this video! I want to do a 24 hour video but like you said I can’t stay up and not sleep haha… so it won’t include my sleeping eating and other random times . 😂😂
You should check out some pulp fantasy novels. Like the phantom people think he’s magical but At least the this phantom it’s all skills . The phantom in the defenders of the earth cartoon does have magic powers but he’s a different phantom that gained the power of ten tiger spirts . And the avenger novels by Keneth Robeson.are also fun reads
Have you looked into The Bound and the Broken series by Ryan Cahill? I’m in book 2 right now and loving it. They get chunkier with each book and have novellas in between! 😳
Ian, I'm a newer subscriber but love your content! I have a recommendation for you! House of Leaves - Mark Z Danielewski It's fantastic, and after watching a lot of your videos, I know you'll love it!!
Do you have P.O. Box I can send a book to? There's a fantasy book, Chronicles of Catacus: Jack of all Trades, that my best friend and I published three weeks ago. I think it's the perfect fantasy for you. You mentioned liking fantasy but not one with a deep or hard magic system or with a lot of magic, and that's ours to a T. I think both you and Ashlynn would love it.
I like the idea of this challenge. I admit, Stephen King is always hit or miss for me, I'm sorry Insomnia wasn't as great. I doubt I could do a challenge like this, I already get details confused as, being a mood reader, I'm usually reading about 3-5 books at a time anyway, so going from one straight into the other would really mess with me.
Can you and or your wife recommend some Christian friction thanks so much. Ps love both your wife and your channel. I’m a baby Christian and want to grow more in my faith
You look like you should be wearing round sunglasses and top hat or a leather armor and in love with a vampire. (3 👍🏾 if you get the references and either way, I like your look.)
You were reading "Insominia" as your "got-to-bed" book. 🤣
Okay Ian.
I just started Drawing of Tree today. I got in 157 pages, it's a hard series to put down.
It really is a great series. Wizard and Glass is my favorite
Serious question tho: how do you know that a rating is 4.5, 3.75, 1.25?? It's very specific...

Thankee, Sai.
“There’s Dragons?!” I wholeheartedly agree with this anytime a book has dragons. It just becomes the best✨
300 pages in 8 hours is crazy work.
"This is a fancy font" - I have had this exact experience far too often, usually during the hours just before sunrise😂
I did a 24 hour (with sleeping) reading challenge recently and also for some reason chose the largest books rather than a bunch of short ones. I think maybe I'll log it by pages, not books, next time so I can feel more ✨accomplished✨ haha

HEY THE FREAKIN' BUY IS BACK DOIN' THE LORD's WORK!!!! MAY GOD KEEP YOU HEALTHY BRUTHA
Yay I’m glad you uploaded today! God bless you. 😁
Picked up assassins apprentice today and am on chapter 4 already. Im loving the writing a lot and am so excited to get further into this world! Hearing people talk about how much they love this trilogy genuinely has me excited to see where it goes.
omg i was waiting for u to upload! love the videos
New to your channel and i love it thank you for being you and making my days better
You got so much reading in. That’s awesome! I’ve been a little slumpy lately and haven’t been wanting to read as much. Not sure why.
You are slinging though Ian! That’s a super hard challenge!!! Favorite quote “he wakes up on a different ball of dirt.”
Excited to see your Realm of the Elderlings journey!
Ian, I looooooved the video! Enjoyed it so much; so, so cool!

I feel the exact same way about his works, I’ve been trying to finish IT for the past couple of years 😅

I find that and that alone is why I dnf every book of his I try. I quit trying. Not for me, at all.
Man you are killin it! Love your videos 👍🏻
Thanks for posting this.. I am on holiday from work next week and I was thinking about re-trying my failed attempt earlier in the year at a 24 hour continual challenge… you reminded me how terrible I felt last time, so I’m not going to do it.. I shall just read and enjoy lol.. good effort xx
Ps I LOVE insomnia! Sorry it wasn’t your fav
One time I read a whole 36 hours (no sleep whatsoever) and moral of the story, DON'T DO IT!!! Because it's so terrible, trust me.

Oh boy I am so excited!!!!!
I felt that "There's DRAGONS?" in my soul lol.
"there's been something happening to Fitz in every chapter" yep, that sounds about right
I also started my farseer trilogy recently… and I will be finishing that puppy as soon as my TBR permits. But it jumped up so much. Book two is coming immediately after my current Malazan chonker. So awesome you’re loving your experience with it. Just gets me more even more excited to get into it
If reading speed was an Olympic sport you would be Usain Bolt and I would be me

I would love to see you only read stephen king for a week! I love your thoughts on his books
I love Stephen King, been reading his books since I was a teenager, but Insomnia is the first one I actually hated. It bored the crap out of me. I haven't read the Dark Tower yet, so I might give it another shot after that.
When I wrote reviews for a book review site. I'd crank through books. Especially for the column I did for the site.
I have been waiting for a new video from you 🙏🏻
Awesome vlog💯‼️ I really need to read the Farseer trilogy 😅 😊
So. I Like Sun Eater - BUT I'm with you. I'm going through it VERY slowly. I enjoy when I read but it's one of the slowest books I've read in a long time.
Read the farseer trilogy a couple years ago! Twas great. I'm about to start the liveship traders trilogy actually.
I really enjoyed insomnia definitely one of kings underrated books
You are a reading warrior for doing this challenge!
Question, what do you usually listen to while reading?? :)
Love this video! I want to do a 24 hour video but like you said I can’t stay up and not sleep haha… so it won’t include my sleeping eating and other random times . 😂😂
What a cool idea!
I did what you did with Hoob, but I did it with the Wheel of Time
Love your videos.. I have missed them.
You should check out some pulp fantasy novels. Like the phantom people think he’s magical but At least the this phantom it’s all skills . The phantom in the defenders of the earth cartoon does have magic powers but he’s a different phantom that gained the power of ten tiger spirts . Best part is Farseer isn’t even a top 3 trilogy in Realm of the Elderlings 😏
Keep going on the Realm of the Elderlings series from Hobb , you wont regret it!
Have you looked into The Bound and the Broken series by Ryan Cahill? I’m in book 2 right now and loving it. They get chunkier with each book and have novellas in between! 😳
milking the clock!! lol
When you read are you listening to an internal narrator and basically watching a movie???
Brother, what are you listening to while reading? I listen to a lot of sci-fi ambience and space ambient
Ian, I'm a newer subscriber but love your content! I have a recommendation for you!
House of Leaves
- Mark Z Danielewski
It's fantastic, and after watching a lot of your videos, I know you'll love it!!
Great video!
Omg! New upload from Ian!
I just got royal assassin!
How many times will I be baited by the Infinite Jest thumbnail? 😂 It's working sir

Loved the video hope you’re doing well👍🏼
I have most of Kings books but I agree, Insomnia is not a great book. It's definitely one I wouldn't reread
Can someone tell me when the flood starts in the assassins apprentice ? I’m finding it slow!!!
Shoooo. My eyes would have been shot! Lol, get some rest!
That was fun...
HALEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Omg, how did you survive ? I loved the video, btw
Any neck pain after reading for so many hours? I get “tech neck” and makes it uncomfortable to read for more than 30 minutes at a time
Don’t know how I would ever read 50 hours straight 😂, I could never
Can you and or your wife recommend some Christian friction thanks so much. Ps love both your wife and your channel. I’m a baby Christian and want to grow more in my faith
The mark of the lion trilogy is chefs kiss amazingly good. I highly recommend
Lord of the rings! hehe
i second this!
Hi Ian! Have you read Misery by Stephen King yet? I just finished it and I’m curious on your thoughts :)
Saw Infinite Jest and got click baited 😂
I could never. Haha
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤩🤩💤💤🏃🏃
You look like you should be wearing round sunglasses and top hat or a leather armor and in love with a vampire. (3 👍🏾 if you get the references and either way, I like your look.)
Ha, I can't read for 50 minutes straight.
