The tale of the red apple
Once upon a time there was a man in a striped suit who just happened to pass by a fruit store. A nice juicy apple would really be tasty the man thought and entered the store.
The fruit store owner thought the man looked stupid and probably easy to trick, so he gave him a fake apple made from plastic.
Ja, this is a great apple, but you need to put it in the sun for a while to make sure it ripens before you can eat it.
The fruit store owner laughed to himself as he entered his backyard. He wasn’t a very tidy man but he was very nurturing with one thing; his great big rare red apple. He was sure to win first prize for it at the fruit market.
The man in the striped suit went back home, his apple was sure not to win any prizes since it was made from plastic… but the man didn’t have a clue.
He who waits for something good can never wait too long, the man thought as he placed the apple in the windowsill so that it would ripen.
Then he sat down and continued building his model ship, when building, the man neither saw, nor heard anything else. He never noticed the parrot accidentally pushing the apple out the window. The apple right on top of old grandmas head. Grandma gave up a scream so loud that her kitten flew up into a tree.
Little Pete just passed by the house and so grandma thought he had thrown the Apple. Pete had never before been yelled at for nothing… and so he ran of crying. As Pete crossed the street he didn’t stop to look for traffic. The principal who came driving in his new car had to SLAM the brakes. The car skidded and ran straight into the fruit stores wooden fence.
The fruit store owner was furious since his fence was ruined, and the principal was angry because his new car was a wreck. Nobody noticed Jimmy who was on his way to school on his bike.
That’s a great apple, I’ll give it to my teacher and maybe she’ll give me better grades, he thought as he snatched the apple. Jimmy’s teacher didn’t even look at the apple, she was angry because the kids weren’t in their seats. The kids were looking at the police in the school yard.
I just wanted to check if anyone had seen a thief with a fake beard and sunglasses? The cop asked. Yeah, he’s here Jimmy yelled, and I sure hope he gets away.
The thief couldn’t help himself, he just had to take the big juicy apple as he passed it. But, he didn’t get far, in the hallway he ran straight into the principal and dropped the apple. It went straight through the window.
Two firefighters were just on their way to get a kitten down from a tree. One of the firemen caught the apple in mid-air. What a great apple the fireman thought. But to be able to handle a kitten you really need both hands, so he put the apple down on a windowsill as he climbed the ladder.
Meanwhile the man in the striped suit had finished building his ship. - My apple, hooray! It looks great the old man shouted. Then he got a bit angry when he saw that someone had taken a bite from it. Shame on you, you’re not to nibble on other people’s apples he said to the parrot. But he wasn’t really angry, he decided to take a walk in the lovely weather. Maybe I should pass by the fruit store again he thought.
I just had to thank you for the fantastic apple the man said. The fruit store owner looked confused. But that looks like my apple, he thought.
My apple, it’s gone! It can’t be true the store owner gulped. He couldn’t believe his eyes.
The man in the striped suit continued his walk, while the fruit store owner sat down under his apple tree and started pondering. But no matter how much he thought he never got to understand how it all happened, and you can’t really blame him can you?
