This is the story about the little mole who wanted to know - who done it?
It all began one day when the mole peeked out of his hole to see if the sun was up. Something long and brown dropped from the sky and landed right on top of the poor mole’s head.
Well, I have never, the nerve of it! The mole growled. Who did that? And right on my head! He looked around with quite an angry stare, but since he was very short sited, he couldn’t see any one close by.
Did you do this? He asked the pigeon that flew by. Oh no, where did you get that Idea? This is how I do it. And - SQUIRT -, a white gooey puddle landed on the ground right next to the Mole, he got splatter way up his leg.
Did you do this!? He asked the horse on the meadow. Oh no, where did you get that idea? This is how I do it. And - THUMP - 5 big round balls of horse dung fell right in front of the sniffer of the little mole. - That’s a lot!! He thought.
Next he went to the hare. Ahrrm - did you do this!? He asked. - Oh no, where did you get that idea? This is how I do it. And - Prr-o-o-o-of - 15 little hard balls shot out and landed on the ground, the mole had to save himself with a quick leap.
Right at its side stood the goat with his dreamy gaze, Did you do this!? The mole asked. Na-a-a-ah, where did you get that idea? This is how I do it. And not before long a row of chocolate coloured lumps hit the grass. They didn’t look anything like what the mole had on his head.
In her pen the cow stood, gently chewing. - Did you do this!? The mole asked. Mmm-nooo, where did you get that idea? This is how I do it. And - SMACK - a big, brown-greenish slab of cow-pie suddenly covered the grass. The Mole understood that it couldn’t possibly have been the cow, she was innocent.
He decided to ask the pig. - Did you do this!? No, no, no, where did you get that idea!? This is how I do it. And - SPLATT - there was a big pile in the grass. The mole had to cover his nose, it smelled terrible!
Two black flies were enjoying some horse dung. Hmmm… here are some experts that might be able to help me, the mole thought. - Guys, do you know who did this? In a blink of an eye, the flies had landed on the moles head and started feasting. Hmmmm… Let’s zee…they buzzed…thizz must be a dog!
Sooo, a dog … really!?
Finally the little mole knew exactly who had done it, and so he went straight to Rover, the guard’s dog. Quickly the little mole climbed the roof of the doghouse … and - pling - a tiny black grain landed right on top of Rover’s head. Happy as ever the mole crawled back into his hole.
