Bio: Wajahat S. Khan is an Emmy-nominated journalist and author reporting on Indo-Pacific security and focusing on the Af-Pak conflict. An Adjunct Professor at New York University’s Center of Global Affairs and non-resident Senior Fellow at Washington’s Atlantic Council, Khan is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Journalism and the University of Michigan, as well as Pakistan’s only Shorenstein Fellow for Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He has reported from 16 countries covering conflict, diplomacy, and media for digital, cable and network news. The reason they play the extension game because they are not rising to power to serve the nation. It’s their self interest and greed. An extension also explain the incapability of the person who could not develop someone to replace him/her. This person must be punished.

You clearly are forgetting: Who gave Gen Bajwa extension? It was none other than the great Khan, he gave him extension because he had an idea and the idea was that since Gen Bajwa was a pro-Khan man (he actually wasn't), there were no dangers in keeping him in the office for the next 3 years. We all saw what happened to Imran Khan after that lol

I agree with the recommendation that people must retire on reaching the age of retirement. It looks highly professional and immensely contribute to the institutional development. No extension should be granted to Asim Munir as the army chief, he should be retired. The people of Pakistan do not want to see him any more. So is equally true for Qazi Faiz Issa, and all other people. However, one remains conscious that what is the role of international mafias in having these bloody people continuing in these positions. Do they sometimes continue to further the international agendas through terrorism and other activities. Whatever the case may be no extension should be granted to these bastard. They must go!

Retirement is a must to allow next gen and new brains come in. Need to build institutions rather than persons. We see it here in the UK as Dr Aysha Siddiqa has said. People retire and next day institutions work as usual because new people have been prepared to take over.

Constitutional amendment should immediately be passed to stop extension in any of the three forces as well as in all civilian departments.
There is no merit, discipline, obedience, oath abidance, moral, ethics, stability, strategy... in Pak Army anymore!
There should not be job extension for any govt. job, what so ever civilian or security personnel. All politicians should agree on this issue.

Imran Khan had the chance to change our devious culture. Sadly Madina ki Riyasate was no better. Gen Bajwa got extension. Corrupt Justice Javed Iqbal got extension as NAB chairman. Lt Gen Faiz was pushed beyond his tenure in ISI even against the will of Gen. Bajwa. And this was Madina Ki Riyasat.
