    Nice review Lloyd. 👍 Its an interesting one, I purchased a used but mint condition 692 black. As it happens I did however check out the new 694 after watching your review. I actually went to the shop with the intention of coming away with one but didn't. The main reason was the palm swell, it felt too big for my hands. Not a deal breaker but just preferred the feel, weight and balance of the 692. That's what's great about the introduction of the 694 it's created options in a similar price bracket. I still believe there's a place for both models purely because of those differences. IMO the 692 is better looking than a 694, not that it matters! Who am I kidding, course it does. 😂

      Agree completely with you, the 692 balance is much better way than the 694... it happens exactly the same to me... also the swing on the 692 black is much more precise and quicker...

    • @ellis219redriot3
      @ellis219redriot3 3 роки тому

      Funny you mention this I had the exact same experience and the palm swell was the game changer for me felt far to big on the 694.

    • @lloydyp
      @lloydyp  3 роки тому

      You guys should never try a 725 if you think the palm sweep is too big on the 694. Also note that balance is deferent for every gun due to the variance in stock weight. Hence the BFast weights. I find the 692 far too wandy for serious clay work.

    It amazes me how you have under 10k followers even though when I'm watching I experience content better than channels with millions of subs.
    I've watched all of your reviews and you have totally influenced me in which shotgun I might buy even on a limited budget. I wonder if youd ever do a budget review series as it's only possible for me and a lot of others to get shotguns below 100, and commercial shotguns not one offs that you're lucky to find. Love your vids :)

    Nice review as always. As for "what's this gun for", not everyone likes as heavy a gun as you do. I shoot mostly field guns (side by sides), so when I bought an o/u, I went with a light and slender model (a Caesar Guerini Magnus 20 bore with 30" barrels). It fits me as a tall and skinny guy (6' 2" and 165 pounds).

    I have the standard 692 with adjustable stock. Never missed a beat - for reliability, just change the ejector o-rings every few months which only takes 2 min whan you have the ejectors out for cleaning anyway.
    These o-rings cost absolutely nothing as long as you don't buy "genuine" spares (measurement is 3.6mm ID x 1mm). I bough a pack of 50 for under £5 delivered and these will last longer then I will!
    If buying new and looking for a dedicated sporter, I'd go for a 694. However 692's are a great buy 2nd hand or if looking for a gun that could also be used for game (more versatile grip).

    • @lloydyp
      @lloydyp  4 роки тому

      Fair comment Kevin. I think a lot of shooters rarely if ever remove their ejectors for cleaning. Based on the feedback I hear regularly it feels like a lot of shooters take rather poor care of their guns.

    I bought one last year pre-owned. It's a lovely looking gun but...... The ejectors failed almost immediately and this seems to be an issue in 692s with the little rocker switch that lets you deactivate the ejectors. Shooting a plain Jane vanilla 686 e Evo now and very taken with it. Might be persuaded to start saving the pennies again if a black 694 was released. 👍

      I think Beretta will cease, or at least, rapidly taper off production, and sell off a.s.a.p., remaining stocks of 692's, at a tempting price.
      Your suggested 694 "black", variant is a logical iterative next step, givien the interest.
      I suspect Beretta will aggressively push the 694 as their optimum mid range sporter, and the 692 will be consigned to history.

I just went to the store to look at 694, that I almost had ordered instead 692, but decided to look at it first, and... they also had 692 there... well... 692 feels much better - lighter and smoother over all feel, and most importantly, it looks like they have a different drop? Id go with the newer 694 technology regardless the weight, but, because the drop, it does not fit! 692 goes in like a charm, and I am too high on 694.
