That's the truth. I was in high school for much of the golden age of hip hop, except this dope track came out shortly after I graduated from high school.
My childhood memories brought me here. 1992 on my way to 9th grade 😍 I woke up this morning and this song suddenly popped in my head for no reason, so I had to listen to it 😂
Oh My Goodness! This song came into my head a few days ago because people at my job were getting on my nerves! I kept singing, "Not gonna be able to do it!" And I was trying to remember where I had heard that from.....and then I remembered this song!🎙 It was an "on the low" classic for me then and I still love it! My part is when he tells the girl, "You thought you were smart dissing me for the next man, but when you heard he had a wife it ruined your plans!"🤣 This is a respectful-diss record all in one! The back up dancers were completely covered! Wow I miss the 80's and 90's music, style, shows.....everything! But I'm so very thankful for the era that I grew up in because it was the best! And if you're reading this.... you know exactly what I mean! Take Care💯
Certainly can relate to that line but love the song for so much more. My last ex before I married fell victim to a douchebag with a wife & child on the low who ended up impregnating her & leaving her with a son she's had to raise on her own. True, she found out the hard way that the Grass ain't always Greener on the other side even if it's an older guy with a car, clothes & jewelry.
I too came here wanting to believe the hip hop was better "back in the days" . But listen to the 3rd verse! This song has horrible message. This song is terrible that paved the way for even worse! It is NOT to be congratulated (PLEASE believe me I came here wanting to remember the "good old days")
This is one of my favorite Hip Hop songs of the early 90's when I was in JHS in Harlem & the music was not yet corrupted with sellouts glorifying drugs & guns. Thanks to this group "Double XX Posee" & all the Hip Hop artists who were & remain true to the culture.
I remember me my friend always playing this song after school played on Friday and when I get home from school at 4:00 i want for rap city just to watch this video and video music box i miss the real 90 hip hop music classic reminisce 💯💯
I Remember when the fresh prince of bel air will was dancing in the car and Carlton told will to cut it out no high drinks youngman fasten that seat belt.
You are correct that it's worse now BUT this is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE I remember the chorus of the song from when I was a child and I had no idea what they were talking about. Now listening to the lyrics the last verse is him saying "oh no the Jimmy hat broke" i.e, it is possible that I got her pregnant. BUT, I don't care. Taking any responsibility for you or the child that you might be impregnated with, im bit going to be able to do it. The fact that hip hop is actually gotten WORSE than THIS is depressing
Samples in this song: Buster Williams - Batuki (Guitar) The Shades of Brown - The Soil I Tiles for You (Drums) 0:13 Joe Henderson - Water Ballin’ Jack - Never Let ‘Em Say 2:14
Aww yeah - I still blast this jammy when I'm ready. Good tempo, phat beat, upright bass and horn sample - that's my kind of hip hop. Guys/gals don't ever lose the flava.
Lol. This song was fun as a kid. Me, my siblings and cousins used to say “not gone be able to do it” all the time for no reason. We had no clue what he was talking about in the rest of the song. lol
She was in the movie Above the Rim and Diamond D video Sally got a one-track mind she was a beautiful woman all natural i miss the beautiful lady of the 90 💯💯💯
The 90s you had to be there I finally realized what my parents meant when they talked about the 70s man do I feel OLD well I guess I am ,😒 can't believe its been 30+years
My man told the story of one girl trying to play him as # 2/a backup plan, the story of another not honoring their agreement, & how he enjoyed being single without *ONCE* calling anyone a bitch or hoe & the song is a hip hop classic. That's not shade. That's fact.
Young guys, this is solid advice for dealing the 20-something girls of 2023. When they ask you for things say *”Nah, baby, I’m Not gon’ be able to do it!”*
Thank God for UA-cam! It's like a time machine to take those of us who know what real hip hop is back to when hip hop was fun, funky, banging, meaningful, and lasting. Today's hip hop is wack.
I'm 30, and I love old-school music. I came across this song on Facebook within a group I'm apart of, and I'm surprised I've never heard this before. This sound goes crazy! 🔥
If I’ve said it a million times I’ll say it again, I swear the early nineties were the golden age of all music, especially hip hop! So glad I was in high school the and lived it!
