Some contexto, since the pilot reached the goal of one view, it got updated to "episode 1"
So, Cain is actually an AI, so he isn't really evil, he just tries to keep everyone safe, he even made that fake exit, thinking that it's what the humans want, but he doesn't really understands how that works, maybe he don't have programed any knowing of the real world or the programing to make an actual way to leave, which is weird if it's a virtual game

If you're checking out The Amazing Digital Circus, I recommend you check out Murder Drones as well because it's quite similar to Digital circus in themes, but very different. It's one of Glitch's masterpieces.
You should check out the trailer for the amazing digital circus that came out between ep 1 and 2. It's just a short fun little video with no story significance buts it's still very funny
