Man that ending always got me this dude was locked up for years as a prisoner of war. Lost his family and him just begging Ben to kill him so he can be with them just hurts.
7:18 I like the detail that 775 begins to hesitate about murdering the family upon seeing the mother and baby.

Which shows that he is not really evil. He just feels sorrow and wants revenge as he believes this would make him feel peace. Good way of writing a one-episode character.

Bit of trivia for this episode: This episode was written as an intentional reference to Guantanamo Bay, a subject that made Dwayne McDuffie furious.
For me, the Colonel is basically Ben 10's version of General Ross from Marvel. And is just as stubborn too.
Rath is f🐬cking hilarious
The best little detail I just noticed when watching it. Once the prisoner saw the baby, he had a brief moment of pure sadness. Like it could be a reminder of what he lost with his own family, or prehaps it was hesitation, realizing that he while he hates the Colonel, he can't just kill an innocent baby.
Pretty dark stuff either way you look at it.
Ultimate Alien is not scared to cover some real world stuffs, even dark ones.

There's a very dark episode towards the end of the Ultimate Alien, "Catch a Falling Star". Kinda polarizing too, people either love it or hate it :)

I love the detail that he pauses when he sees the wife and child, and decides to take Colonel as a hostage instead because he realised that his family wasn't the way to go.
This is the secret sauce of Ultimate Alien, the dark topics that it tackles. Also, the prisoner is not named to further the dehumanization of him and he has a striking resemblance to Randall from Monsters Inc. Now if any aliens attack the earth going forward, this situation pretty much facilitates why they might have some justification for doing so. Ben is Overkill, because of his everything

Area 51 was mentioned in the OG series episode Frames Ben, it’s also a level in the first game; Protector of Earth and you do technically see some alien prisoners there but not as dark as Ben describes it.
One of the best episodes in Ultimate Alien. It covers mature topics, it has great humor, and it was the introduction of Ultimate Wildmutt. Too bad we never got a follow up about the prisoner's fate, but at the same time that makes the message of the episode stick with the viewers in a haunting way.
Nice to see Wildmutt back, and I like the running joke about Ben saying the alien names.
It’s a nice way to address it in the show.
It's a bit not consistent though. Sometimes when Omnitrix/Ultimatrix gives him a wrong alien, he still shouts the name of the alien he turned into, even though he wanted a different one.

Rath has a ruthless attitude
This episode is one of my favorites in UA the emotions it brings up are so heavy even the “villian” begging for death at the end is so bone chilling. It also has some of Rath’s funniest lines and the return of the goat Wildmutt. I feel awful for Prisoner 775 he didnt deserve to be treated like that

Clockwork hasn't appeared as a form for 16 old Ben (Yet), so I would think that form (Plus Juryrigg, Eattle, Shocksquatch) would be in playlist 5. Also, maybe buzzshock and Spitter would be in the same playlist.
Fun fact: That Area 51's alien prison was kinda mentioned in the original series, in the episode "Framed" (the episode where Kevin could mutate into all of Ben's aliens and was using those powers to frame him) when Lieutenant Steel met Ben (while he was Diamondhead) he said 'We'll let the boys at Area 51 decide who's naughty and who's not'.

I definitely woulda throttled Rozum. He can cling to whatever excuse eases his conscience, but the harsh truth stands: had he just shown a bit of compassion to 775 and followed the rules back then, he could have avoided all this madness and the careless endangerment of his loved ones and innocent lives. As far as I'm considered, HE'S the real threat and deciding between his life and the lives of few hundred aliens is a real no-brainer to me.
Off-topic: That name always made me laugh. I'm Polish and in my language "rozum" means something like "mind" or "reason". When I first watched this episode I though the dubbers just translated his surname. I was surprised when I learned they didn't.

If what Prisoner 775 said is true (about his home planet) then it's actually super dark, for a kid's show. With him begging Ben to kill him, so he would reunite with his dead family.
Also - Ultimate Wildmutt that can talk - remember I loved this idea of "ultimate" when I was a kid.
It would've been funny if Area 51 had no aliens in this fictional universe where aliens were everywhere

Without a doubt, my favorite episode of Ultimate Alien. Just so many great moments. Rath being...well, Rath, the running gag of the show finally acknowledging Ben's name shouting, a proper reintroduction to Wildmutt, the introduction of Chamalien, the amazing voice acting from Dee Bradley Baker, and the fact that Area 51has a prison built underneath it was a real-life reference to Guantanamo Bay, a very personal gripe for showrunner Dwayne McDuffie.
The existence of Ultimate Wildmutt was spoiled before this episode aired by a toy of him being put out, if I remember right.

He actually always reminded me of Komodo from "Secret Saturdays". Especially with his ability to turn invinsible.
So, a bit of a note for the new alien Ben has. In this episode he jokingly calls himself "Overkill" because of the earlier gag, but his real name is Chamalien.
The fact that we never saw the other aliens makes it more horrifying. Prisoner 775 is easily one of the most tragic characters in the show.
I know it's never really said in the show. But considering all we know about max, and all The earth plumbers characters like phil and even Max's brother and now someone like Rozom who are completely intolerant toward aliens. I like to think that max seems to be more connected to the alien plumbers now.

This episode was really good with a balance of humor and very dark scenes and it is genuinely one of my favorites in the shows
This episode had a grip on me as a kid because I loved Ultimate Wildmutt and Overkill's design.
Revisiting it has such a sad message about undue process and the injustices committed by the government. One cannonly hope the rest of the prisoners were able to recover from their mistrestment.

Episodes like this remind me why Rath's one of my all-time favorite Ben aliens. Like ever. Top 3 easy.
This episode has some of the best Rath bits, Hell Yeah he's better than Humungusaur. Man this episode was really good probably the best of the season so far

We need a try not to laugh challenge Rath Edition. Good to see Max & Copper wearing his plumber suit for the first time and not his no 3 shirt and it's funny that Max stops Copper from getting distracted by Gwen and not Kevin.
Chamalien isn't a great alien for ben as the main advantage is being nimble and invisible, nimble is worse than intangible, and big chills invisibility doesn't make shadows

This is one of a handful of Ben 10 episodes that, while well-written, feel like they were written for a completely different series, to the point that they almost lose impact by association.
