- One of my favorite songs to play for weddings is the O'Carolan harp melody "Fanny Power," a fitting song to celebrate the spring! While searching for signs of spring on the UWF nature trail, I stopped for a while to play this song for you. :-) (C-G-C tuning, key of C)

I just turned 71 and, Jessica, your performances take me back to the times when all of we aspiring musicians learned our instruments by playing traditional folk music --- thank you so much
Really nice, thanks.
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Always so beautiful! Listening to your music with eyes closed is like sailing on a gentle sea in a warm summer’s breeze. Watching your hands and fingers work such beautiful magic on the strings of your dulcimer is absolutely enchanting. You are such a gift to all of us. What a Blessing!
God bless you, Bob! Thank you. :-)
By the way i played this on my phone while at my dentist, after he was done he was humming the song. So sweet
It's a tone that makes my heart gentle
You always put a smile on my face and in my heart with your magnificent music. Thank you!😊
Bless you, Joe! Thank you, and Happy Easter to you! :-)
Very Nicely done.
Your arrangements are amazing! Thru your playing you have the gift to transport people into a time long ago, to take them on a trip of peace, or a lost love, or a time when times were hard but people gathered together to play music and have fun. God's peace to you.
Jack, you describe precisely the experience I have when playing my songs, and if that same experience is coming through to you in my music, my hopes are fulfilled. :-) Thank you so much, and may God bless you as well!
One of my favourite tunes played beautifully.
Very nice :) tres jolie
beautiful + talent = nice combination
Thanks for the inspiration…. So impressed I’ve bought a Dulcimer! All I have to do now is learn how to play it as good as you! LOL
I'm glad to have been of encouragement! You've begun a wonderful musical journey!
Beautifully Done! Just Wonderful .. 😊 x
That was truly AMAZING. I've never seen anyone use their fingers as movable capo in as precise and effortless manor as you displayed on this video. Granted I'm not a dulcimer player (I play guitar so some of the techniques translate from one instrument to the other with the fretting hand below the next rather than above the fretboard) and have really only discovered the beautiful sounds of the dulcimer through your videos but the way your used three fingers to capo across the fretboard and your thumb to play the melody was great fun to watch. Great technique, beautiful arrangements and wonderful playing. You have a fan in the great state of Maryland.
Thank you, p5gband! You are very kind. :-) I have most often heard that technique of “using the fingers as a capo” referred to as creating “barre chords,” I believe. The thumb really is a friend if one wants to be able to play chords and melody at the same time of the mountain dulcimer! :-) I am glad that you found my music... Blessings!
@@JessicaComeauDulcimer hi Jess, thank you for responding. Yes, we (guitarists) also call it 'barre chords' didn't know ya'll did too :)
Beautiful!
Thank you
What a lovely spring gift! Thank you. We're still pretty well frozen up here in northern Michigan.
Well, I hope that the song "Fanny Power" will be able to thaw your hearts a little if not your ice and snow. :-) You are most welcome, Sharon, and thank you for listening!
Awesome
Beautiful
Very nice!
Lovely!
Thank you! :-)
Very pretty! Has a nice fresh springtime sound to it! Late March/early April where I live is that weird transition time where it's not really winter or spring, you get more rain than snow but it's like 60% rain, 40% snow. I'm looking forward to spring right now.
I hope my little song will hurry spring along for you, then! :-) Thank you so much!
Absolutely Superb
Thank you, Jim! This song is lovely to play at weddings... It feels rather like a more down-to-earth alternative to “Pachelbel’s Canon” because it shares a few little melodic patterns with it. :-)
Beautiful(!)... thank you.
You are most welcome, Larry! Thank YOU! :-)
This is so lovely! Thank you for your playing. It's super comforting.
Thank you so much, Kath!
It's unbeliveable... Very beautiful.
Thank you so much! :-)
Ohhh que c'est joli !❤❤❤
Merci beaucoup! You are very kind. :-)
Thank you, Jessica! It is beautiful!
Thank you, Janet! Happy spring!
Beautiful. Pristine timing.
Amazing, I'm so glad I found your channel :)
I'm glad, too! Thank you so much! :-)
I love this! gotta figure out how to play it!
Thank you, WhisperRunner! I know you will enjoy making this song your own. :-)
This one has to be 1st favorite then the Cinderella lullaby. You play and sing devine.
That’s so sweet! Thank you, Shirley!
Bonjour, j'adore... même au bout du monde à paris (France) , on t'écoute....
What a blessing to know that my music has found you there, Williwaw! :-) Merci beaucoup!
J'espère que vous aurez un jour l'occasion de venir jouer en France... La musique n'est jamais aussi belle que quand on ressent les vibrations de l'instrument. Je suis un apprenti autodidacte de Dulcimer.
Such Beautiful music! So wonderfully played, God's gift of musical blessing shines through when you play!
Wow, it calms the Soul and brings Peace to my Heart, what a wonderful piece you've played. I've just purchased a Dulcimer myself, I hope I will learn to be as fluid and naturally "speaking" in my playing as you are. Your music sings and speaks, it speaks the voice and Peace of Jesus. Such an amazing sound to be blessed to hear and you blessed to play such beautiful music!! God bless you Jessica, in all that you do. 💕
It is a blessing to hear you say so! Music has long been connected with ministry for me, so I am glad that this comes through in my other music avenues as well! Thank you so much!
@@JessicaComeauDulcimer Yes! I have heard some of your Album, I listen to it on YT music. Really, really lovely and beautiful. SLAINTE.....from IRELAND home of O'Carolan.......EIRE..
Greetings! Thank you for stopping by! :-)
Hello Jessica. Nice tune. I like it. Whish I also could sit outside to play my dulcimer. But here in Germany it is still too cold.
The tune itself doesn't seem to be too difficult. Will try to add it to my playlist ☺
Thank you for sharing it with us.
Happy Easter!
You are most welcome, Rainer! I hope that spring may come soon to Germany so that you can play “Fanny Power” outside. :-) A blessed Holy Week and Happy Easter to you as well!
break down in tears every time. sorry
How you respond to music is nothing to apologize for! :-) Thank you for listening.
@@JessicaComeauDulcimer it is my utter and complete pleasure, Jessica! i am honored by your reply. Am totally subscribed. 261 likes and *0* dislikes. Justly deserved. i have never seen numbers like that, anywhere on UA-cam, since 2003. It is clear that at least 261 of your viewers have exquisite musical taste and sensitivity, i should say. Please keep up your transcendent work, and posting it here. Just wondrous.
Beautiful song.... your instrument has a beautiful sweet sound! Is it a McSpadden? Love your playing and the nature setting adds so much!
Thank you, Marcia! It is a McSpadden Dulcimers redwood and walnut standard dulcimer. I found it very refreshing indeed to play outside in our fragrant and temperate springtime... :-)
Hi Jessica, i just bought my first used McSpadden dulcimer. You play so beautifly! Do you have tabluture? Cynthia
Thank you so much, Cynthia! I plan to publish an arrangement of this song in my upcoming Irish anthology! If you’d like to be added to my mailing list for the release date, please send me and email from the address at my website! :-)
Lovely tune, is it in one of your books?
It will be! I plan to include it in the Irish music tablature anthology I’m currently working on. :-)
@@JessicaComeauDulcimer very cool. I just started practicing your wildflowers book, really like it!
Hott
The weather was actually still rather cool when this video was filmed... However, if it the song you are speaking about, I’m glad you liked it! :-)
