I think this is a perfect blend between 70s pop and 90s grunge. Really brings the two together well. I think it’s also an excellent parallel to how the Bradys are “out of touch” with the 90s culture in the movie.
I also think it’s a bit of a play on how the innocence of fun of the Brady Bunch can blend well with the modern world. Notice all the side characters who dig the Bunch and like being around them like how the band jams so well with Davey.
There is NOTHING to be ashamed of when liking a Davy Jones or Monkees song. Those guys all had/have major talent. In fact, Micky ranks right up there with the best vocalists of all time and Mike Nesmith's a genius all around. If you want to check out some other kick butt Davy tunes, I highly recommend 99 Pounds off of the album Changes and You & I off of the album Instant Replay. Two great songs. On the softer side, his ballad I'll Love You Forever is absolutely fantastic. Cheers!

saw a concert and met him when I was 20 (in 2005) He actually kissed my aunt, my mom, and me 😍 He talked to my grandma on the phone 😍 he was wonderful. saw him again the following year but didn't get to meet him. he died 20 days after my mom did. her biggest crush ever.
