I Rode My Honda Transalp 750 in the Snowy Mountains

- My goal is to thoroughly test this bike before I give my full Honda Transalp 750 Review and that includes taking it to places that I probably shouldn't...like up into the mountains in search of the snow line. The good news is we made it to the snow and the Honda Transalp XL750 was amazing the whole way. I absolutely LOVE riding this thing, whether it's in the mud, on gravel, on the street, or even in the snow.
Adventure bike snow riding isn't the smartest idea, especially when I was alone on the Transalp 750, but we went up as far as we safely could before executing the world's most awkward kickstand turn to get the XL750 Transalp pointed safely down the hill.
My New Dunlop Trailmax Raid tires did well in the gravel and the mud, but weren't so awesome in the snow (not that they're designed to be).
Look for the full 2024 Honda Transalp 750 review coming very soon!

I was in mud today and couldn’t do the kickstand spin in the woods because the bike sunk…hahah…so I dropped it and spun it on its boxer….always fun riding in good stuff!!!!!..Good stuff!
Good times!!!
I got my first ADV Motorcycle in April and then this bad boy comes out and it would have been the bike I bought instead. I’m tempted to trade my KTM in for the Transalp! 😂
@Dorkintheroad I really appreciate your content and your commentary. It’s nice to watch someone just as silly as myself. So thank you
Also, I was born and raised in Oregon city Oregon. I moved to Las Vegas 10 years ago for work, but my father always took me up to Goat mountain and up the Clackamas river my whole life, so watching you explore your trails and area is a nice reminder of my happy childhood days. It really brings me a lot of joy to be able to go on adventures. I know if I still lived in Oregon I’d be the dork in the road 😂😂😂
Thank you again for your hard work, videos and reviews
Well done sir.
The wise man know when to U-turn due to bad conditions, especially when he travel alone.
The Goal is to have fun and to be able to come back to tell the world your adventures.
I am jealous, you live in an adventure biker paradise !
I'm considering getting this bike and seeing exactly what it's capable of. Fookin sending! 😂🤘 awesome vid as always, my dude.
Awesome. Thanks for this series. I LOVE this bike and will have one. My only request is...maybe some safety glasses if you're gonna ride with the visor open please. I cringed so hard with that brush slapping your helmet. Don't damage those peepers, Ben!
Perfect example of how a "light" adventure bike becomes heavy in certain conditions.
That looked rough lol. I've dragged my dad down a few logging roads like this over the years, makes for an interesting time!
So glad you love your Transalp. As a CB500X owner, would you say that you could do everything you did in this video on a CB500X?
Yes, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
Good idea to turn around before the snow got deeper. A fall injury in a cold, remote place could be bad. Never want to push it because you have phone or InReach "backup." Such protection only works when it works and when rescue can find you.
Oregon looks a lot like Wales 🏴
Looking forward to my 750 after years on the Transalp 700.
Love the comfortable mile eating set up of the Transalp.
👊
callouh callay!!! Two count them two videos where my ears didn't get assaulted by ads and I saw some good, solid riding. You might want to compare notes with As the Magpie Flies when it comes to the transalp vs the Africa twin in snow
Friggin awesome brother 👊 now that is allot of fun and the bike is proving itself over and over
Awesome video man! Love it
Thanks for the great video Ben!
I really do like the transalp but I can't wait for you to discover the joy of replacing the air filter!.. I just dropped off my 2020 Goldwing Tour DCT for service ( including the air filter change , which alone they charge 4 hours for labor! ) I can only imagine how much dirt and dust you will get riding in your environments and conditions! You MAY change your opinions of this bike, it's truely a pain in the ass to change!
Another great, and funny video, thanks! Looking forward to the full 1000 mile review, and your complete thoughts on the Dunlop rally raid tires.
Thank you for showing us the realistic capability of our Transalps with an average rider on board. This is actually very helpful compared to those videos with professional riders riding it.
Great bike 😍
Nice Adventurous ride indeed.
Another great viddy, Ben!
Thanks. My Transalp is in the garage with 20 miles on it. No bash plate or crash bars yet, but splurged on oem heated grips.
I need dry pavement to scrub in the tires before I ride in the rain.
So far, I love it! A worthy upgrade to the 2012 F650gs twin.
I couldn't find the OEM grips anywhere so ended up buying some Oxfords.
@@DorkintheRoad Oxford’s should work as well as OEM, and not nearly as expensive (I had them install them, and the 12v on the dash). But I wanted to keep more bar real estate open, and the fn button to control is nice.
Shopping for bash plate and upper crash bars now.
is it a snow bike.....great work....looking forward to the review
Cool video. I was thinking about the T. A. Currently have a himalayan and a touring Harley. Dude I wonder what the TA would be like with a aggressive tire. Thanks budro.
Riding the ice is all about nerves & balance!
Done it on motorcycles & bicycles!
Yes, I've wiped out too!
This is the road up to dork Mountain😂. Thank you for making me laugh.
fun ride
Works for me!
Looking to get an adv bike for my first ever bike. Will go used but have no idea which would be good. As someone who’s over 6’ 1” and heavy I think at least a cb500x is in order so that I’m not full throttling it just to pass on the highway
Today is my 58th Birthday and I was going over to my local dealership to buy a used Super Tenere but it was already sold. Good for me because I bought the TA instead.
Two great Talp videos in a row. First time I've heard being uncomfortable to stand.
Nice ride out, how do you find the Transalp compared to the Norden 901? gutted there is no cruise control on the Transalp. Really enjoying your content, great job!
Yes as before mate...better cameras required. Awsome views and scenery though. The Transalp seem more than capable.
I have been to my local Honda dealership (very small place) to check out the Transalp 2 or 3 times.
It seems to be a great all around do most stuff good and I'm really really wanting to buy 1 but (isn't there always a but) I can't get into the black only offering.
Maybe if in the next model year they offer different colors I'd be in.
Thanks!
Thank you!
I've had a few days like this. Sometimes the route just doesn't work lol.
Thk you.
I road NC105 and only found out it was ice after I down shifted and the rpms stayed the same. Like the saying goes, “If there’s ever a time your bike will hit the ground, it’ll be when you have an audience”, sure enough I dropped the Scrambler walking it downhill past some hikers. It was my only drop that day, however.
After you ride the slick stuff, do you feel like you have gobs of traction on paved surfaces? Certainly boost my confidence on tarmac.
Hmm.. need to work on those snow inhibitions..🤪
Keep the cameras going, i miss oregon.
hard to beat Honda reliability, the more i see it the more I'm intrigued...sayonara 890r?
Take care of your eyes buddy! Love the video.
I love the look of the bike. Not totally sold on the front fender but it’s growing on me. How much she weigh?
208 kilos wet, without accessories, crash protection.
Tires tires tires my friend…give the Tusk D Sports Adventures a try.. for the money they are much better than one would expect….
As a side note : cardio cardio cardio…
I've reviewed the Dsports and run them on several bikes.
Yes, I know I'm fat. No need to point it out. It's pretty obvious, don't you think?
@@DorkintheRoad
Trust me my friend..I knew I was fat when I dropped my GSA on the TAT in North Carolina.... great motivator when you're in the middle of BFE and your heart rate hits 200 to do more cardio cardio cardio. !
Thats how the trails in Pennsylvania got blocked off the littering was horrible be lucky its just one bed and they probably got caught unlike up here
I can still make it on the trails, it's just blocked for trucks so i cant off-road in a jeep or anything
Was that first road FR54 off the GPNF? That's just up the road from me! I work out of the USFS office in Amboy. Jealous that you're out riding, I'm a poor civil servant who can't even afford a bike at the moment.
So, I have an Africa Twin Adventure sports....The only complaint I have....is the damned tank! I wish there was a way to move the pegs back a little to change the standing position, but the seated position is so comfortable that I would hate to mess that up. Sad to hear the same issue on the Transalp. Nice ride. Might have to try snow some day.
They checking out the FASTWAY footpegs brand. I think they make for the AT. They have a heel extension for extra foot support. They are unique. But might be an option than something custom machined.
@@matthew3136 I have seen those but don't know anyone that has used them. I may want to check them out.
The more adventure bike videos I watch, the more I want an xr650l. There's only one Honda shop on my island and they don't have one in stock though.
Tons of used ones out there ;)
so you want an enduro bike, not an adventure bike then.
Where are you in this video, which mountains?
I'm liking the Transalp more every time I see you ride it. And BTW, stupid to have the EPRB on the bike and not on your person!
Where is this ride and how are tired on pavement and rain ?
Mate being you have had both T7 and now TA which one would you recommend if you could have only 1 bike to do it all? Cheers 😎
That's wednesday's video.
Short version: it depends on what you want to do. It always does.
I am so getting a 2025 (next fall/Winter) Transalp and selling my 2022 KLR
What are your thoughts on having your inReach device attached to your bike as opposed to having it on your person? Sometimes I have it attached to my backpack, other times I use it for navigation attached to my handlebars.
I’ve heard of several instances where the in reach not being in your body Les to issues. Getting tossed from the bike for example I’d rather have it on me if you aren’t in a condition to get back to your bike.
As someone who is built exactly like you, I’m curious as to what Rev’it jacket that is and what size is it?
I think it's an MSR Jacket from Rocky Mtn. Dork did some vids on it already.
Curious. Why did you put the in reach on your mirror?
Cuz I wasn't wearing a backpack
I enjoy dirt but mud just isn’t fun to me. It’s fun watching other people ride in it though.
Wear your inreach on your body, so if you get tossed off your bike you can still reach it
Do you think this is a replacement bike for the xr650l ?
They're pretty different. The Transalp is way more street-friendly.
I just wondered if this is Honda direction. I heard rumors the xr650l is going away !
Can you share the location of the trails? I’d appreciate it.
❤🇬🇧
You rode your TransAlp in the mountains until a stick went through your radiator and now you're walking 5 miles to a spot where you can get a cell connection, which is common when people take street bikes offroad. Hope this helps.
Huh?
What?
@@MeerkatADV No bike with a radiator should be taken into the bush. Hope this helps.
@@BishBosh2010 If the bike has a radiator, it's a street bike.
@@BillySBC hahahahahahahaha! good to know every Dakar and Romaniacs bike is a street bike. You should be sure to tell them.
Thanks and a reminder for you to wear your In-Reach and not to mount it to the bike!
I appreciate the donation. I normally do but I wasn't wearing a backpack this day so I figured it was better than nothing.
Snow big deal 😅. Hopefully not ground hog day😇
I don’t think it is as much about the haters, and what they think about the bike, as it is about the haters and what they think about themselves... That’s the real issue with “haters”. They may be a little mentally challenged.
Inb4 all the "helpful" people warn you "yOu'lL BrEaK YoUr sIdE StAnD"
Nice video but hitting way too many branches with your face to not be wearing any eye protection
It's totally obvious that you rode your 300 Rally up there and then used CGI to make it look like it was the Transalp.
Nah I had a Honda Helicopter. All part of my "fake influencer" package along with my million dollar paydays.
Sure, a 500lb cow needs fancy electronics to keep you upright while a 300lb dirt bike doesn't have such to break. The difference is only speed? Seems silly to me....
Because these are not only for dirt. Some people have to ride for hours to get to the dirt
Haters make you money!!!!! Never forget that :) They click and comment and that helps you look bigger on Yucky Tube
