Today was my first time ever makin sticky rice.. You literally saved me ‘cause I had noooo idea sticky rice was suppose to be soaked the night before lol! Thank you soo much!🙏🏽🙌🏽😭😭😭
No way....I have to try this! Thank you for the hack. I usually make extra batches when I steam my rice then store in zip loc, freeze them and microwave to eat. But when I run out, I now know how to have fast sticky rice ready! Thank you.
Just found your channel because I literally forgot to soak my sticky rice. Mum's from Laos. Thanks for your channel. Glad I'm be able to cook my childhood recipes now that I live on my own :) Plus she just gave me a jar of spicy jeow bong :)
Thank you for this cooking lesson!! Like the saying say"GIVE A MAN a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for his life time."
This recipe my rice was rock hard even after cookign further and adding water So instead I recommend adding water to the same level as rice and then microwave! Works like a charm
ขอบคุณมากค่ะ Since I subscribed you. My cooking skill is totally changed especially E-sarn and Laos cuisine. There is a lil different that we all should know how to cook like a pro. Luv luv this sticky rice hack = my go to (when I cook for my kids) big 👍👍👍 big thx 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
I am extra lazy when it comes to sticky rice and extra thankful for this video. When you want sticky rice you want it and now I don’t have to wait that long anymore!
Thank you so much! Ruined a couple cups of sweet rice after telling my husband “Of course I can make sticky rice”. We love Vietnamese food and are actually looking for spring roll recipe from Laos region. Have you posted one?
I suggest putting the rice in the sieve at the beginning for all of the rinsing and soaking the the boiling water. That way there is no extra transferring back and forth between sieve and bowl.
Soaking it overnight means preparing food ahead of time and I never prepare anything ahead of time I do last minute cooking, last minute everything... so this is a useful tip for sure.
Oh my lordy, thank you so much. We are going on vacation and this video is really useful considering that I may want to make a small batch for hiking trips!!!
Sabaidee !!! Thank you for this video. American hubby who loves sticky rice tried this and he was beyond thrilled. He can't wait to share this video with his family who also fell in love with sticky rice.
My first household chore as a 3rd grader was cooking rice for dinner. I’ve been making rice for over 30 yrs. I never wash any rice so softly. I manhandle the rice and scrub is really hard between my hands. Rice is pretty tough it can handle the roughness.
I am making sushi in a few days and this recipe for the rice is gonna be a life saver. All i have to do is make the rice vinegar mix and done. Thank u so much for the video.
Thanks for the hack! I normally use my zojirushi rice cooker but I was in a time crunch. I followed your recipe to a T but unfortunately was left with hard uncooked rice. So I improvised and added a little more water at the end, microwaved for another minute, and left the plate on for another 10. Still hard and uncooked. I wonder if the power of my microwave had anything to do with it. I’ll play around with the technique though. It would be great to have quick sticky rice!
Yeah it slightly changes with the power of microwave and also how much water is drained before putting in the microwave. Play around with the time and water to see what fits for your microwave
Cooking regular rice proportions is 1 rice to 2 water so I don’t see how there could possibly be enough water to cook the rice just with a few tablespoons of water that clung to the rice.
This recipe is perfect thanks be only problem is the sticky rice doesn't speak up enough water to not as water at all add some water before microwaving
I always soaked it overnight than use rice cooker with a bite of water comes out perfect every time. But I am going to your method just to see if taste wise is different
I did everything like in the recipe, but 3 minutes of microwaving and my rice was as solid as a rock and very dry, like uncooked. I'm confused it didn't cook the rice
@@phillipmargrave definitely Glad wrap will do. Otherwise the rice will go hard. Once the rice is cook, don't undo grad wrap, let it sit for few minutes then open n give it a stir. This method is good for cooking small amount of rice. I still prefer to cook rice traditional way anyway.
Thanks for sharing this ill have to try it, does it taste different? I can't get sticky rice that dry usually looks like microwave would help. I want to use sticky rice to make khao jee (Thai name)
Do you have a video of how to make the sweet and spicy paste that you used to dip the sticky rice in? Can you please comment back the link if you have a video?? If not can you please please please make a video?? Thank you! ❤️
I loved this so much❤ until you started eating (lol just kidding) I kinda got jealous because i wanted that good lookin food 😂😂😂 Thank you so much for this❤❤

Exactly what I was looking for. No one has time to steam sticky rice in a bamboo steamer or want to clean up just to get the sticky rice fix. Thanks
Glad it helps!

i learn how to make this, thaks man!

Mine did this too
In total you had to microwave for 6 minutes, stirring after 3 minutes then putting it back for another 3.
It may also depend on microwave power
Did you cover it in the microwave?
@@phillipmargrave definitely

Didn't soak the rice long enough
Wow! I definitely have to try this. Have you ever tried making sticky rice in a rice cooker? I tried the other day and it was a fail. 😆

I can tell jeow bong is your favorite. LOL.
Is the rice just as good versus being soaked for a longer period of time?
