"purchase the spirit smash for breakable floor, the ability isn't great for combat though" me who purchase the Spirit Smash at the early game and use as main weapon: *hold my hammer*
The Spirit Smash is great for combat. I purchased it as my first upgrade and it ended up being my go-to weapon for the entire game. It’s the strongest damaging ability that doesn’t use energy (and even among the energy-using ones, it’s still pretty high up there). It has a bit of a wind-up between when you press the button and when it damages, but it didn’t take long for me to get the timing down.
Hell yeah girl!! I had the same experience as you describe, and the best is it is SOOO powerful, and will break weak floors without using energy... So I say it's one of a noobs first purchases because it IS a great skill to use in combat, and is the one item that crushes weak floors without using any energy at all... Good info to new plàyers...
The sword lashes do actually deal higher damage per second because it hits way faster, so you are wrong about it dealing more damage, but it is a good weapon and I use it a lot
@@Domab. No it doesn't because the sword deal's 3 times les damage and a full hammer combo deals way more damage so i would say they have the same DPS or att least it isn't noticeable.
It's marvellous how it's all about "I wish I knew this before playing" And in the beginning is the biggest spoiler of the bosses for all those who want to know those advices BEFORE playing -.-
Alright time to check this out Also some tips of my own after 100% the game myself. 1. Go baurs reach before luma pools. This gives you the light burst which is very good for bosses. 2. Side quests. Do them. For example, the tree keeper quest and the midnight burrows quests give you a total of 50% increased dmg, both give 25%. 3. Get shards. Shards like quickshot and splinter (both in kwoloks hollow) help you a ton in bosses. 4. Abandon challenge. If you are stuck on a boss, use the abandon challenge button. It throws you back to the part before the boss, where you can backtrack and get stuff for the fight (life, energy etc) Ill update this if i remember other tips Nice video overall!
Your tips focus very much on bosses. I for myself had no issue at all with bosses and the game seems rather easy overall. One tip from me would be: don't waste any money to reveal the hidden life and mana containers. Rather complete the trading quest.
honestly I intentionally stayed away from splinter and general damage buffs when fighting bosses, makes it more interesting and gives you more time to enjoy the mechanics there's not a lot of fun in making a shotgun and killing the bosses in a few seconds imo quickshot is a really nice quality of life shard tho
Tip: You can switch shards and abilities during a fight. (This means you can switch to regenerate if you're getting low on health, and switch back to your weapon of choice!)
A couple more interesting facts: ~The Spear also breaks floors, which is a good note but it uses 2 energy to use. ~There are actually 5 combat shrines, not 4. ~The End of the Hand To Hand sidequest unlocks all secrets anyways so the map upgrades Lupo has for crazy high prices are even more obsolete. ~Get Triple Jump. It makes a lot of the platforming a ton easier, even in the final sections. ~With the Split Shot and Rapid Shot shards, the Bow is the most powerful weapon in the game, dealing crazy damage for little cost. Overcharge, Life Pact, Extra Energy and Reckless also boost these numbers. It gets crazy.
it's kinda sad the final reward is just a free version of luppos stuff, if nothing else since it makes that store useless I got it when I was still at the point of wanting to find everything myself, so just having them all forced into the map was a giant pain although the reference to the original game is neat
This is spot on. Except i think that the end of hand to hand only marks secrets which are items in areas obscured by the near parallax plane, areas that are technically 'off map' on the map view, and stuff that's not immediately obvious (like a spirit light container in a cooking pot) and these are usually spirit light containers. I don't think hand to hand actually marks health and energy upgrades that are out in the open. I may be wrong though.
@@ZaneBastian it marks Health and Spirit upgrades, Spirit Light containers, Gorlek Ore and...oddly enough, the objectives for the last area (before even knowing what that area is).
I didn't like the triple jump because it let's you "break" many intended platforming paths and difficulties...As a platforming purist it kinda felt like cheating certain sections of the intended challenge. I actually would redo a section if it was obvious the path without it was different lol.
Recommended: - When u meet the Shard Collector, get the 'Wing Clip' shard bc those flying enemies are annoyingly persistent and take more hits to kill them if you don't get the wing clip shard early. -Spirit smash is actually quite useful for certain enemies, stunning flying enemies(when timed right), and destroying Gork shields with one hit. Smaller enemies are instant kill, and it requires NO ENERGY. -If you wish to complete the 'Hand to hand' side quest, do so in the order of each land you must go to recover the Wisps: Baur's Reach (heads-up: a moki will trade u a hat and u give that hat to another moki in the Glades), Mouldwood Depths, Luna Pools, and Windtorn Ruins. - Mora[the spider]'s abdomen is part of the background, which means you CAN dodge her legs from underneath or above her without taking damage from the rest of her body. Just her head and the main front legs are what you have to avoid. - If you're a distance attacker, Spirit Arrow and Spirit Spear (and Spirit Star) are optional (just be wise with your Energy) there are shards that help Spirit Arrow become deadly and requires less energy than Spirit Spear. Spirit Spear is very powerful but eats up your Energy fast, so try to locate Energy Cells to have a possible of four shots if you're dealing with bigger enemies that take more damage. - Spirit Star can stun the flying mosquito enemies during their (annoying) charge attack - Midnight Burrow does not require the 'Launch' ability. You can get through the area with your early set of abilities : Double Jump, Dash and Bash. The chime puzzle are the pillars in the background. Bash the chimes in the correct order w/o touching the ground (then do it again, but backwards) Honestly I had to look up a video bc I was lost on that one ; v ; - Bash is your friend. Bash enemies, projectiles, even the health stem seed things, bash 'em to use it as leverage and gain higher ground you want to get to to areas that often require an ability you might not have yet. - U see or happen across a breakable wall, break it! They make things so much easier if you want to avoid a certain area that made you scream bloody mary
here's a quick hint, abuse bash, it's a great mobility option and the ability to bash of off enemies means that you can dodge some hard hitting moves by just bashing off of the enemy. Once you can, i highly recommend getting the shard that lets you deal damage with bash, and a specific shard that lets you do the other movement option against enemies as well :)
Purple PyrOZ Hey does anybody know... when u walk by certain parts in the world you get an icon in the bottom left of the screen (rotating symbol). What does this mean?
Fun fact: spirit smash isn't only one ability that can destroy breakable floor. You can also do it with an upgraded spear. So did i cause i didn't even know i could down-hit with the hammer😆
In case y’all didn’t know you actually don’t even need a weapon at all to get past the breakable floors, just bait one of those stomping enemies to smash on it
The biggest tip I can give is that hitting an enemy in the air gives you your double jump back, making aerial combat much easier. This is great because many enemies attack in front of them while you can be attacking from above.
AND ANOTHER THING! If there are people who have played the first game you may know that you can only warp to spirit wells from another spirit well, in this game there's an optional upgrade that lets you fast travel to any spirit well FROM ANYWHERE. I had no idea this was a thing until I was in Willow's End
A lot of people apparently pass on using the spirit light bow for anything but puzzles because it's pretty weak. What they don't realize is that there are three shards to upgrade it, each of which can be upgraded itself. Upgrading all of the bow's shards and equipping them all turns the bow from very weak to INCREDIBLY strong, possibly the strongest weapon in the game. Large amounts of damage per shot, with a ton of shots really fast, and AoE damage to everything on the screen at once. Very, VERY nice.
5:51 Ability is good for combat. Maybe not for you but it was goated during the morra fight with the spider. It causes a slam effect with radius so when slamming down on enemies it damaging them which was good for when she spawns in spiderlings and it was good to damage her to.
all the good things about spirit smash -crowd control, especially after the ground wave updgrade. Down smash can instantly kill multiple small enemies -huge damage, I can manage -30 dmg in one swing, it's slow but super effective. -one swing can cover 180 degree hit area, you will rarely miss an attack
One thing i learned the game has is that you can quit challenges, the first time i encountered the spider i had almost no energy and life cells, so it was imposible and so frstrating. So please, quit the challenge and do more exploration, re visit places buy some abilities and return when u feel more stronger.
I’ve played video games almost my whole life and this really is one of the mor challenging ones I have played! I love it! The patience I’ve learned it real🤣🙌🏼
What, the spirit smash isn’t good for combat, really? I would argue it’s one of the best weapons for combat if not the best when you consider that it doesn’t cost any energy to use.
I didn’t use spirit smash myself, just didn’t fit my play style, but it is most certainly a great weapon. The spirit smash is more slow and cumbersome than the slicker and faster attacks but this can actually be an advantage if you position yourself correctly Also, spirit smash is not the only way to break floors
Spirit Smash is my favorite attack in the game. Dive in, make a couple quick cuts with the blade and finish off with a wallop that sends even the tougher enemies in the game soaring to the other side of the screen. It even has a fantastic sound effect too which might sound like a minor point but it really gives you the feeling that you just beat somethings ASS.
Triple Jump and Sticky are must have abilities for exploring ! Spirit Smash is EXCELLENT for enemies . Surprise an enemy with Spirit Smash >Spirit Edge/Spirit Arc ; you will make quick work of many enemies in the game .
I didn't had a single problem with my first completion on this game I got the breath under water just when it became available Got the hammer and spear first and what got to my mind was "I haven't seen the groundpound yet, wonder if it is a hammer attack due to you being able to angle with the sword too" And then I said to myself "you have the biggest brain" LOL
The added shard-slots really helped me a ton, towards the end I figured out a combination which constantly replenished my health during combat, so all the shrines and boss-fights were more than simple to finish. At first I wasn't that happy about this whole system (I was used to the simple tree from the first game), but now I really like the possibilities I get. The hammer is a great tool, I also didn't know about the break-the-floor-thing until the end, since I expected it to be an ability like in the first game. But thanks to the first one I knew that getting triple jump and water breathing would be really worth the spirit lights so I immediately bought them. And of course I knew already from Blind Forest that it's super helpful to get your energy and life up asap, so I collected what I could, even if it took me some tries.
These are all great tips, but wait there's more! Something I think a lot of people didn't notice (at least I didn't until I completed the game) is that you can warp to a Spirit Well no matter where you are. Unlike in the first game, you don't have to be at a Spirit Well to be able to warp. Just open your map, select a Spirit Well, and hold space (if you are playing with a keyboard, don't know what button it is on a controller). Important note: When the next patch comes out, fast travel from the map will be an upgrade you will be able to buy from Opher, the weapon master.
@YamiAtemYugi An icon similar to the letter "o" in the logo actually shows up in the bottom left corner when the game saves. As for the warping, after you've discovered at least two Spirit Wells you can warp. In the first game you have to go to a Spirit Well and (on PC) click the right mouse button. This will open the map and let you choose a Spirit Well to warp to. In the second game if you are at a Spirit Well you can warp by pressing 2. You can also warp if you are not at a Spirit Well by opening the map, selecting a well and holding Space, however, as I have said before this will become an ability you will have to buy in the next patch.
@@Teasuti But you can. I did it yesterday. I have already said it more than once it will only become a skill that you have to buy in the new patch. Unless that patch is already out on XBox (because it's not out on PC yet) you can still warp from anywhere.
1. Yeah, water breathing was the first thing I was looking for, and I was glad it made a comeback from Blind Forest. 2. Lupo is basically Cornifer from Hollow Knight but less necessary and more convenient. Still a huge help once I find him, since that makes finding things way faster. 3. Ngl, the Gorlek ore was probably the most difficult of the collectibles because some of the upgrades I needed came so late in the game, as did some of the ore itself. 4. Meh, I still wound up getting more Spirit Light then I had to spend by the end of the game. Makes Spirit Surge a game-breaker, at least. 5. Shard slots are basically kinda the same as Hollow Knight's Charm slots. 6. "Not great for combat"? Bruh, Spirit Smash was a game changer for me! It made killing common enemies like the mantids, hives, and corrupted Gorleks a snap! As long as I could reach the bosses' hit boxes, I could go nuts with the hammer and take huge chunks from their health bars.
That last tip isnt just obvious based on ability description, but it's also incorrect that it's not that useful in combat. It's very useful, especially if you get it early. You interrupt and stagger regular enemies while doing a lot of damage.
The spear could also break the breakable walls, It's an amazing ability for me coz it could 1-shot most enemies even tho it uses a lot of energy. But the upgrade is even amazing since it now deals AOE, so I could easily take out the annoying flies to the equation and focus on the more troublesome big monsters when in Battle Shrines (There's also a shard for reducing the energy cost). Also, Spirit Light is pretty easy to get when back-tracking into areas since you could just fight enemies along the way.
I bought the water breathing thing without knowing it it was completely by accident but like an hour or so after that i walked into luma pools and was like "the game gods habe blessed me"
Before you believe the spirit smash is a flop play it for yourself I used it and never used anything else once I bought it especially when you equip catalyst and overflow
I 100% agree. I ALWAYS have it equipped for combat, and I'm in the late game! I most often destroy enemies quickly using only the spirit smash. I also use it to get a little height boost at the top of my jump if I need to reach something higher. It's come in handy a ton that way.
5:05 there are actually 5 combat shrines instead of 4. You forgot the second combat shrine in Inkwater Marsh, to the south by breaking the ground with spirit smash
I forgot the shard name, but there's one shard where if you collect enough spirit lights, grants bonus damage. I equipped that along with other trees that increases damage and the result is astounding. For reference, ori's hammer attack deals 6 base damage to enemies. If you get bonus damage trees and spirit light damage shard, it deals 25-30.
missed one very important thing and that is the warp system. it is in the menu and you can use it almost anytime in the game, and makes navigating back to old areas way better and easier, disregard if you already made a update to this. I am currently playing this game on a first play though on hard mode and getting the life cells are a 100% must when playing. This came up in my suggested content and thank you for it
You can miss this information easily. It's said after you rebuild the fountain on wellspring‘s glades that you can now warp to fountains from anywhere. I had to load back up safe file to read it one more time because I skipped it accidentally and didn't trust what I though I had seen 😂
i did not even notice I could warp at first until i noticed it in the map screen myself, it is a great feature and make the game way nicer after some transitions
Just started playing this game and man this game is incredible. Its exactly what ive bean looking for in a singe player game without the constant stress. Love it and thanks for the pointers bro
I'm loving this game but sometimes it's so frustrating to get stuck. I hate to do the same things over and over again. That's my only issue with this game.
Spirit smash is a bit clumsy for sure, but once you learn how to use the combos it's great for fighting too, I killed the giant fire bug with just that
You dont need to use spirt lights to reveal items in map, instead if you complete the final tree quest by that old tree keeper guy , you end up getting a seed and it can be grown in wellspring glades , which then when you absorb reveals all secrets across the map !
In case y’all didn’t know you actually don’t even need a weapon at all to get past the breakable floors, just bait one of those stomping enemies to smash on it (The spear can be used to break the floors too, that’s what I used)
That's a nice choice for a title. It's not presumptuous, claiming to know, what I do not know, yet it still implies that the video is informative. Which it is.
Don't exagerate lol. You aren't anywhere close to one shooting bosses even with both 25% upgrades. Unless easy mode is a much bigger nerf to the hp of enemies than I thought. I never played in easy mode.
@@daniallau4717 You probably got it by now, but it gives a 25% bonus damage. Tip if you play again:Midnight burrows are accessible as soon as you get bash and you don't even need to get the tablet telling you to do the code backward, you can just do it backward instantly, letting you skip the area entirely.
Spirit Smash is awesome for combat you just have to get used to a slow weapon and I know because it was my main weapon, but I tend to use spike and spirit edge more now.
One big tip! I know it's a grind but gather the 1,112 (I think that's the price?) Go to Twillen and get tripple jump, honestly it is a life saver to have it since the ability can help you get to more of those pesky places that double jump won't allow you to reach.
Spirit Smash is great for combat Doesnt use energy and it's a very heavy hitter, especially with the upgrade where it pushes them back a bit. What I found too easy about ori is having mind boggling mobility (which is also why its so awesome fluid to play), but you can bounce (?) off of enemies! that shouldnt be the case imo
Some more tips I found were very useful are: 1) DON'T buy any of the secret maps from Lupo (the ones showing spirit shards, life and energy cell fragments), as these can all be revealed by completing the hand to hand side quest. It saves 5000 energy by completing the quest instead of buying these maps from Lupo. 2) The only weapon worth buying and upgrading early game is the spirit smash - what he said in the video is wrong; spirit smash is one of the best weapons for combat, arguably better than the spirit edge, and doesn't use up any energy. The spear is only worth buying late-game, once you have at least 8 energy cells, and is only good for boss fights. This is bc the spear is high dmg but uses up 2 energy cells every time you use it. 3) If anyone has played the first game and knows about the Stomp ability, holding down and using the spirit smash midair does essentially the same thing; it's overpowered. 4) Once you unlock the light burst ability, try to find the spirit shard upgrade for it. This makes it overpowered, and is extremely good for dealing with both bosses and swarms of enemies. Highly recommend it.
I picked the spike as my weapon to break floors, but now knowing there was a weapon that broke those breakable floors without spending energy, I feel kinda dumb. But the hammer is really good at combat, it can even stall you in the air for a while. A good use of it is actually the last fight against Shriek since you’re in the air most of the time.
The greatest combo of shards possible for pure melee damage is overflow, catalyst, reckless, resilience and life force. You are going to enjoy it if you like using the sword or the hammer, and if you combine it with launch… you destroy pretty much anything
I’m always switching weapons. With the shielded miners, I open with a launch which destroys the shield so I can get in a few spirit edge attacks before I dash away and throw a spear. I then jump over him using a mixture between stars and fireballs until I’m directly above him and finish with a downwards hammer. Otherwise I’m pretty much just Spear, Launch and Edge as my main
How to I change my abilities.. I’m new to these types of games and can’t figure it out lol.. I know how to change my spirt shards through the menu but not abilities cause I took off a ability I need now when I bought a newer one
@@XxBeamerr You hold that button then a Wheel of all your unlocked abilities will show up, then you hover over the ability you want to select then press a button to bind that button to that attack. What console are you on?
You need spirit smash, triple jump and water breath. I think I'm going to try leveling up the bow like some of the other players are talking about. I played through on normal mode once and the end was tough. Now I'm playing hard mode but I'm taking my time to find everything and I think it will pay off by having all the extra life shards or whatever they call them. I'm still dreading the spider though haha. Gonna be frustrating I'm sure.
The hammer is okay for fighting enemies, but, there's a trade off. Although it's about 3 times stronger than the blade, by the time you make one swing you could have hit something with the blade 3 times..... choose wisely.
I always tend to have the sword on the left button and hammer on the up button, plays a lot like a Fighter that way and it is fantastic for combat. Give the hammer another go; it can smash weaker enemies in one hit and stun enemies that survive the blow, even breaks shields if the enemy has one! The only situation I found it lacking was fighting bosses, a bit too slow for them and I found myself running into their hitbox when trying to smash them with hammer. Also the monkey is met earlier then that, and he'll give you 1 single weapon ability for half off while he's at that location.
It also depends on how peoples brains work, like how they make decisions, some people might just prioritize different things based on what they have fun with, I found most of the tips without his video, but it wasn't because I have played games in the same genre, it was mostly just cause the abilities he talked about sounded cool to me at the time.
You can buy the hammer much earlier than this!!! Near the beginning of the game you will meet the wepons Master for the first time and he also gives you a discount for your first purchase if you buy the hammer at this point its only 400 not 800
The super smash is my go to method to utterly destroy those big buff dudes wandering around, just 2 ground pound on their head and, boom, dead. (And look styilsh while doing so)
1) Buy things 2) Buy things 3) Collect things 4) Do quests 5) Buy things 6) Do shrines 7) Read ability tooltips to break floors. Brah... these are normal things. I was expecting something new. Edit: The best tip wasnt even mentioned... Where he charged that boulders! I didnt know you could do that! I just always stood on top of them xD
What are you talking about, the spirit hammer isn't great for combat? It's one of the best things and my main weapon i use. You can knock back almost every enemy, break shields, etc. It's a must have.
i use grapple a lot and always have ultra grapple to the max as sson as possible, because its very useful on pc with combat on the floor. basically i just spam left click and right click and it damages enemies really quickly, and makes it way easier to move around and be badass :P
For the breakable floors part, I bought the spirit smash as my first ability and opher actually gave me a discount as it was my first purchase from him making it only 400 spirit light, so.. real handy
spirit smash is not good for combat?!! damn I have played the entire game using that ability, didn't fell like it was weak at all (and Ive used it to sequence break some ability shards and time trials :P) also, on my first playthrough, without any guides, I've got like all combat shrines, life and energy upgrades and time trials, it just takes a little bit exploration, its fun and you fell awesome when you find these secrets
5:37 , Spirit Smash isn't the only thing that breaks floors. Spirit Spike does too, and it is a much better choice than Smash. Yes, high energy cost, but that thing hits like a truck. And with the energy gathering shard you'll be getting later on which will turn the game into Hollow Knight-like by allowing you to recharge energy with every Spirit Blade hit, the Spike is going to be a crackhead skill.

Also some tips of my own after 100% the game myself.
It throws you back to the part before the boss, where you can backtrack and get stuff for the fight (life, energy etc)
Ill update this if i remember other tips
Nice video overall!

@@Serafiniert THIS !!! I bought em early and I shouldn't have. You probably get 95% of em when you explore and see em on the map anyways.
honestly I intentionally stayed away from splinter and general damage buffs when fighting bosses, makes it more interesting and gives you more time to enjoy the mechanics
there's not a lot of fun in making a shotgun and killing the bosses in a few seconds imo
quickshot is a really nice quality of life shard tho
It is not +50% damage as it is multiplicative and not additive.
So it is 1.25 * 1.25 = 1.5625, so it is 56.25% improvement in dmg.
These tips are really useful :)
Tip: You can switch shards and abilities during a fight. (This means you can switch to regenerate if you're getting low on health, and switch back to your weapon of choice!)
A couple more interesting facts:
~The Spear also breaks floors, which is a good note but it uses 2 energy to use.
It gets crazy.
it's kinda sad the final reward is just a free version of luppos stuff, if nothing else since it makes that store useless
I got it when I was still at the point of wanting to find everything myself, so just having them all forced into the map was a giant pain
although the reference to the original game is neat
@@OswaldAurelia Ahh, I see, I stand corrected then
I didn't like the triple jump because it let's you "break" many intended platforming paths and difficulties...As a platforming purist it kinda felt like cheating certain sections of the intended challenge. I actually would redo a section if it was obvious the path without it was different lol.
Recommended:
- When u meet the Shard Collector, get the 'Wing Clip' shard bc those flying enemies are annoyingly persistent and take more hits to kill them if you don't get the wing clip shard early.
- Spirit Star can stun the flying mosquito enemies during their (annoying) charge attack
- Midnight Burrow does not require the 'Launch' ability. You can get through the area with your early set of abilities : Double Jump, Dash and Bash. The chime puzzle are the pillars in the background. Bash the chimes in the correct order w/o touching the ground (then do it again, but backwards) Honestly I had to look up a video bc I was lost on that one ; v ;
- Bash is your friend.

Fun fact: spirit smash isn't only one ability that can destroy breakable floor. You can also do it with an upgraded spear.

Also just standing on the floor and doing a normal attack breaks floors with hammer...don't need to know the down dash ability👍

No way... I played the game twice and I wasn't aware of that.
5:53 - Spirit Smash is not great for combat?? On the contrary, it's one of the best! Great damage, stun and no mana used.
Yeah! It destroys Gorlek shields and beetle shells in one swing!
I still felt that it was a bit slow compared to the sword like attack
well it uses some mana but it uses very little of it... still an amazing weapon
Stephen McGuire No it doesn’t?
@@rasmuskp93 yes precisely

The biggest tip I can give is that hitting an enemy in the air gives you your double jump back, making aerial combat much easier. This is great because many enemies attack in front of them while you can be attacking from above.
AND ANOTHER THING! If there are people who have played the first game you may know that you can only warp to spirit wells from another spirit well, in this game there's an optional upgrade that lets you fast travel to any spirit well FROM ANYWHERE. I had no idea this was a thing until I was in Willow's End
Yeah I did this and was surprised I could. Not even sure what I upgraded to enable it
Opher@@judgeka
A lot of people apparently pass on using the spirit light bow for anything but puzzles because it's pretty weak. What they don't realize is that there are three shards to upgrade it, each of which can be upgraded itself. Upgrading all of the bow's shards and equipping them all turns the bow from very weak to INCREDIBLY strong, possibly the strongest weapon in the game. Large amounts of damage per shot, with a ton of shots really fast, and AoE damage to everything on the screen at once.
Very, VERY nice.
honestly this game is amazing and i have no idea why there isnt any fame for it, ive gotten 99% completion lmao

Nice hallow knight reference
all the good things about spirit smash
-crowd control, especially after the ground wave updgrade. Down smash can instantly kill multiple small enemies
-huge damage, I can manage -30 dmg in one swing, it's slow but super effective.

A patch helpfully added the description "Destroys unstable ground" for the Spirit Smash.
I didn't even knew that you can go through the entire Luma Pool section without underwater breath skill
What, the spirit smash isn’t good for combat, really? I would argue it’s one of the best weapons for combat if not the best when you consider that it doesn’t cost any energy to use.
I'm been using the hammer since I've been getting it, also the bow generates light when shot, very useful against the dark caves
I didn’t use spirit smash myself, just didn’t fit my play style, but it is most certainly a great weapon. The spirit smash is more slow and cumbersome than the slicker and faster attacks but this can actually be an advantage if you position yourself correctly
Also, spirit smash is not the only way to break floors
Spirit smash is beyond useful, especially in combat because it requires no energy usage. Like many, it was my go to weapon in many occasions. Haha.
I actually find sticky extremely annoying. I unequiped it after half an hour and never touched it again.
i played and finished the game without yt or walkthtroughs. ive done these 6 things so im proud of my self
Wow
You know a video is old when the creator changed names but the content is still top tier. Thank you
I didn't had a single problem with my first completion on this game
I got the breath under water just when it became available
Got the hammer and spear first and what got to my mind was "I haven't seen the groundpound yet, wonder if it is a hammer attack due to you being able to angle with the sword too"
And then I said to myself "you have the biggest brain" LOL
Thank you for doing these. It helps a lot. My son bought me a switch for my bday. I am now 60year old.
@@Klaracbarack this is a skill you have to buy. Can't warp from anywhere by default.
@@Teasuti But you can. I did it yesterday. I have already said it more than once it will only become a skill that you have to buy in the new patch. Unless that patch is already out on XBox (because it's not out on PC yet) you can still warp from anywhere.

the hammer can litelary destroy gorks shield its a must have weapon
Wow. This game looks downright amazing.
@YamiAtemYugi yeah it took me about 16 hours to complete the game, it was hard but it was worth it
It is beautiful and on gamepass if you have Xbox
The spear could also break the breakable walls, It's an amazing ability for me coz it could 1-shot most enemies even tho it uses a lot of energy. But the upgrade is even amazing since it now deals AOE, so I could easily take out the annoying flies to the equation and focus on the more troublesome big monsters when in Battle Shrines (There's also a shard for reducing the energy cost). Also, Spirit Light is pretty easy to get when back-tracking into areas since you could just fight enemies along the way.
I bought the water breathing thing without knowing it it was completely by accident but like an hour or so after that i walked into luma pools and was like "the game gods habe blessed me"
the smash was the key for me to defeat the Spider in Mouldwood Depths! Ori is definitely a great platform game, probably my favorite one

Spirit smash is better than sword/any other weapon for combat imo it's so satisfying. also the spear can break walls and unstable ground.
I was struggling so much with the game until I got the spirit smash to replace my sword and damage boost upgrade for it, best weapon

There's actually 5 combat shrines, so you can have a total of 8 shard slots

That's a nice choice for a title. It's not presumptuous, claiming to know, what I do not know, yet it still implies that the video is informative.
Which it is.
A good tip: get the two spirit trees in Midnight Burrows for almost one-shot kills on bosses.
What does it give? I got to mid knight burrows kinda late into the game.
Spirit Smash is great for combat
Doesnt use energy and it's a very heavy hitter, especially with the upgrade where it pushes them back a bit.
What I found too easy about ori is having mind boggling mobility (which is also why its so awesome fluid to play),
but you can bounce (?) off of enemies! that shouldnt be the case imo
For the thingy that breaks breakable floors, I find that during boss battles it dose more damage like a lot more. Anways thanks for the amazing tips
Some more tips I found were very useful are:
1) DON'T buy any of the secret maps from Lupo (the ones showing spirit shards, life and energy cell fragments), as these can all be revealed by completing the hand to hand side quest.
A good use of it is actually the last fight against Shriek since you’re in the air most of the time.
just another tip the spike ability can also break floors. I personally get this instead as its doubles a a powerful range weapon.
The greatest combo of shards possible for pure melee damage is overflow, catalyst, reckless, resilience and life force. You are going to enjoy it if you like using the sword or the hammer, and if you combine it with launch… you destroy pretty much anything
The last one made me laught. I somehow figured that out relatively early.
It's worth pointing out that Spirit Smash is 400 - UF it's the first ability you buy.

You do realize that Spirit smash is GREAT for enemy's the combat shrines even bosses and it does more dmg than your 2nd melee weapon

this is a good youtuber
I always tend to have the sword on the left button and hammer on the up button, plays a lot like a Fighter that way and it is fantastic for combat. Give the hammer another go; it can smash weaker enemies in one hit and stun enemies that survive the blow, even breaks shields if the enemy has one! The only situation I found it lacking was fighting bosses, a bit too slow for them and I found myself running into their hitbox when trying to smash them with hammer.
Also the monkey is met earlier then that, and he'll give you 1 single weapon ability for half off while he's at that location.

Don't forget that those jumping enemies can destroy breakable floors as well.
For the breakable floors part, I bought the spirit smash as my first ability and opher actually gave me a discount as it was my first purchase from him making it only 400 spirit light, so.. real handy
spirit smash is not good for combat?!!
damn I have played the entire game using that ability, didn't fell like it was weak at all (and Ive used it to sequence break some ability shards and time trials :P)
also, on my first playthrough, without any guides, I've got like all combat shrines, life and energy upgrades and time trials, it just takes a little bit exploration, its fun and you fell awesome when you find these secrets
