Just made these. OMG 😲 these are delicious! I cooked them extra brown to get a crunchy fritter. I also used canned apple pie filling.. it's quicker, cheaper than apples, and so good.. I've tried many of these recipes and yours is the best. Thanks!
Great video. I’ve been cooking, baking and frying for close to 30 years and I’ve watched a ton of cooking shows. This was one of the easiest to follow instructional videos I have ever seen.
Love apple fritters and the crunchy the better. My mom and I used to go all the way into the next town to get their apple fritters at this one donut shop because they were so good. I can’t what to try this recipe and have one and remember great times with my mom. Ty so much Matt.
I broke down at the end of this presentation (Rest in power Doc Godwin ) Thank you so much, I needed a starting point & this was it for me. I honor his legacy & works! Iearn it.. practice it....teach it. Give thanks
Hi Matt, the last recipe I saw foe these showed the apples being fried up in some butter for a few minutes to help soften them up before putting them in with the batter. I can’t chew the hard solid apples because of horrible teeth so I like the Par cooking the Apples for about 8-10 minutes. It made them just soft enough that when they were cooked inside the Batter, they were soft enough to bite into and yet still firm enough to get a little bite of the Apple.
Hi Jill, did you try them exactly like this in the video? the apples still turn out soft. But you can certainly par cook them in butter if you want. It also depends on how small you make the apple chunks. But trust me if you make them exactly like I do in the video, the apples aren't hard at all, they are very soft.
In The Kitchen With Matt Hi Matt, no, I went ahead and cooked them for about 5 minutes just because I am so used to doing them that way. When I do my next batch next week, I will try to remember to not cook them first and see how they are. My Mum lives with me and she is 80 years old suffering from severe Dementia. She has broken her Dentures at some point so no teeth now, so most of what she eats is somewhat soft. Unfortunately bad teeth run in our family and mine were destined to be removed about 5 years ago but my dentist did a really TERRIBLE JOB and they have NEVER FIT CORRECTLY! I looked like The Ronald McDonald Clown on the few occasions that I wore the set of dentures together. I was way beyond embarrassed! So until I can afford to have a Dentist that knows what he/she is doing, I will continue wearing my Covid19 mask 😷 for BOTH reasons and continue eating softer foods like me Mum. I do like your a lot of your other recipes, your voice is very friendly and easy to listen to so I will look forward to your next video, or I also enjoy going back thru history and see any that I may have missed and want to try. If you happen to have an extra Apple Fritter laying around that no one in your family wants, I can email you my address and have you send it out. Where do you live, just the state is good enough, don’t want you thinking I am stalking you 🤪😖😋! I just wanted to try your very own fritters. Take care and stay safe, also , thanks for all the Great recipes, I really enjoy them very much. Jilli P

Hi Mat. I love watching your videos. They are simple and so easy to make. Thank you for sharing. I am looking forward to making these with fall soon approaching.
Matt, thanks for dumbing this down so that anyone can make it. For those who don’t know, the usual method is to roll out the dough, spread half with filling, cover, cut cross wise and the lengthwise. Gather up the dough bits, form into fritters. 2 much method for me, so you did something wonderful for us. We really can do it - make apple fritters!

When I dropped the batter into the hot oil they came out more like balls and not like fritters look. Due to the density I had to cook them a little longer and they are brown. Still taste good but they don’t look like yours. I just used two apples.
I made them tonight...be very careful to watch the temp of your oil, I lost the first 3, they burned. Also, this recipe, even using only 3 apples has very little batter. I will definitely make again, but increase the batter!
Glad you gave it a try. Yes just like anytime you deep fry, you need to be careful of the oil temp. The best thing to do is use a candy thermometer to monitor the temp.
