Not to be pedantic here, but of those 6 tracks from the cd-singles, “Baby’s In Black” was re-released in a remix on the 2016 Hollywood Bowl. “Yellow Submarine” and “Here There And Everywhere” was re-released on the 2022 Revolver boxed set. And while it’s called ‘Take 7’ on the Real Love single and ‘Take 6’ on the Revolver boxed set, it’s still the same performance, albeit in remixed form on the latter. The only songs not yet re-released is ‘I Saw Her Standing There (Take 9)’, ‘This Boy (Takes 12&13) and ‘Christmas Time (Is Here Again)’. Also, the BBC take if ‘Devil In Her Heart’ from the ‘Baby It’s You’ cd-single from 1995, also has yet to be re-released, as it was substituted by a different performance on the BBC On Air album from 2013.
@HARALDEMANN thanks for the information. I can in no way know and or remember all the BEATLES recordings info. I appreciate you watching and contributing to the discussion. Keep rockN!
I wrote Neil Aspinal 30 years ago and made suggestions of songs to include in the Anthology. Surprisingly, 90% of my suggestions made it! The big one that didn't was the 27 minute Helter Skelter, which apparently was vetoed by George.
Great video, Tony. Getting the red and blue albums re-released with a lot of new songs, many of which should’ve been on the original release and Now And Then on the blue album was a letdown. To me, it was like being invited to a friend’s house for dinner and they serve leftovers! First time I’ve seen the albums and how they put together the liner notes. So they found a way to give the vinyl fans just what they gave those who bought the CD’s. I remember getting the albums on CD at Best Buy. They gave us a CD of interviews with the purchase. One guy in line said “Everything made sense in the 1960’s except Vietnam!” LOL
@williamlangan5902 Thanks. And don't forget the incredibly elaborate ANTHOLOGY book. I did a short showing it. Thanks for contributing with your memories.
I have a feeling we'd be disappointed when we heard it. Ditto the 27-minute "Helter Skelter" - just listen to the Anthology 3 version, and imagine that going on for all that time.
IMO "Peggy Sue Got Married" is the most conspicuous of many omissions. And it has not appeared on LIB NAKED or the 2021 LIB box set either, along with "Mad Man" and several others.
Beatles Anthology TV Series was bought by London Weekend Television and then broadcast across the ITV Network on Sunday Nights at 8PM from Sunday 26th November to Sunday 31st December 1995. The Maxi Singles were just CD Singles, and in the UK it was normal for artists to release four tracks on a CD Single at that time.
As mentioned “Real Love” was released as a single with “Baby’s In Black” as its b-side and “Free As A Bird” single had “Christmas Time (Is Here Again)” as its b-side. And we now have “Now And Then” which would go well as the volume 3 new track.
Then there's also the wonderful Anthology book, which seems to be largely forgotten about today. I couldn't afford it at the time, so I didn't read it back then. Not to mention that it was pretty much sold out immediately, and it's been out of print for years and years. So it's only recently that I managed to buy a used copy of it, after decades of waiting. And it's worth it! Not only does it go into much greater detail of the band's early days from childhood up to Hamburg, but overall, I think it's a lot more revealing than the TV documentary ever was. The Beatles speak more freely and uninhibitedly, and it's very refreshing.
I wish they would have done the "Now & Then" single like they did "Free as a Bird" & "Real Love." I wish they had put bonus tracks on it like they did the other 2. That's really the only reson i bought the first 2 "new" songs. With "Now & Then" you get nothing but the 2 songs that are also on the re-mixed Blue album. I did buy "Now & Then" but only to have in the collection. This is off the subject here, but I just wanted to vent. Thanx. Enjoyed the show.
Great subject. I need to point out, "Giles" is not pronounced with a hard "G" like "Guy". It's a soft "G", pronounced like “Germ" or "Jelly". Also "Geoff " Emerick is pronounced"Jeff". The "o" is silent. Just an alternate way of spelling "Jeff". Some Beatles fanatics 🙄 word of lambasted you! HaHa! Also, "Free As A Bird" & "Real Love" were both released on vinyl 45's with picture sleeves. On another subject, I wish I had gotten those anthology LP sets either when they first came out or a second time I had a chance to get all three at $40 a piece, still sealed! It would be great if they rereleased them with a 4K remaster of anthology on Blu-ray! Nice,! I just don't see it happening!
Hey Tony. I bought all of the Anthology sets on CD and vinyl back in the day, but in those days I only occasionally played vinyl, and my copies are still mostly unplayed. The same goes for my vinyl copy of 'Let it Be - Naked'. It's hard to believe that the whole Anthology thing was nearly 30 years ago! Now, you realize you're making some collectors crazy by showng these, right?
@@LPS-R-US Oh yeah, I picked up the CD singles, but like you I'm not sure if there were ever vinyl releases for Free As a Bird or Real Love. Vinyl wasn't top of mind in the '90s, but I had to have those Anthology records on vinyl anyway...
Hi Tony, there are a few more tracks that could be added to this, I am currently putting together a Now and Then album for my Beatles mono box set and in that collection there was no Ballad of John and Yoko and no Old Brown Shoe, and as I searched the archives some other song really stood out as worthy tracks, like the Beatles first interview, cry for a shadow, tie me kangaroo down sport, Bad to me, Child of Nature, Circles, Goodbye, and The Walk to name a few of what I am putting together and with what you have mentioned. But even with all the deluxe box sets and extra material they have come out with now , they could release all the extra stuff in a box set for the dedicated fans that love that stuff who already have the main albums with out having to re bye the album just for the extras.
@@andrewhudson8966 I’m in Australia and the Ballard of John and Yoko and Old brown shoe was not released on the mono masters in the mono box set but was released in the past masters that was from the stereo box set here in Australia and the earlier Beatles collection box sets. They basically replaced those 2 songs with the other versions of get back and don’t let me down.
One more thing - unfortunately the Anthology series (at least 2 & 3) are becoming obsolete with the all the Giles re-mixed/re-mastered box sets coming out.
I wouldn't say so, because Giles Martin has done nothing but DESTROY those albums and outtakes with his, frankly, insane remixes. I have nothing against the man himself, but he sorely lacks his father's ear and perfect touch...
There must be multiple different takes of every released track. Do we really need them all to be released bit by bit over the coming years and decades ?
Got the 3 cds anthology this year used for bout 4 euro all in good condition thats enough for me. I not into spenting more money on remasters cds with a few extra tracks do not scap the barrel , enough is enough . After last year 1967 to 70 its just a money grab i did buy the revolver remaster with the extra disc .
Apple should get rid off all the live concert songs and replace with other outakes. Never been a fan of concert performance given the sound limitations.
We needed “Magical Mystery Tour” remix more i think. But since most was already remixed on the 1967-1970 Blue Albumremix then that just leaves 4 songs (BTW maybe Giles should remix “I Am The Walrus” again, at least fix the ending) I just don’t understand most people are rooting for “Rubber Soul” remix and ignoring MMT??
Well, honestly I think Rubber Soul and MMT have already been mostly redone by Giles. There are several tracks from each album that popped up on the remixed Red and Blue collections. I wouldn’t be surprised if Giles and company have done the stereo remixes for far more of the albums than we’ve been made aware of, and it’s just a matter of time, and putting the packages together, before we get them.
I always felt like the anthology stuff is the beatles weakest link, most of the tracks were kind of throwaway material, some interesting things but most of it not real strong stuff
@thomaskay779 The Outtakes contained in the 9 lps are to me, a kinda blueprint of how the lads build songs. Just my opinion. I appreciate you watching and commenting...keep rockN, thanks
I have the three Anthology double CDs, three LPs sets, three cassette sets, three promotional CDs, the two CD singles, three VHS sets, three DVD versions, and the 10-DVD directors cut bootleg. Also the iTunes anthology highlights release. I haven’t watched or listened to any of them for well over 20 years…
@John_Hazeldene Before my video I played em...then listened to the CD'S in my car. What can I say? Fantastic compilations of Outtakes and live performances and gives you a sense of wonder. Thanks for watching and commenting.

The anthology documentary should be made available on bluray for a 30th anniversary release.
Thank you for posting this Beatles related video. I can never get enough of the Fab Four.
