Just for fun here are a few games that got SUPER close to making it into this tourney and why they didnt quite get the spot. Celeste - amazing game but I just couldn't quite imagine her having enough combat abilities to design a interesting moveset around - her evil form maybe? Stardew Valley - a game close to my heart and it does have combat - doable but I'd want a way to include farming into at least 1 move which seemed tricky. Palworld - had an amazing idea to have the palworld trainer summon different pals to help with their moveset - however each individual sprite costs money and I'm only a smaller channel so it just did not make sense. Crowsworn - super close to doing this one but I kinda want to know more about the character and what they can do to put them in. FNAF - creepy and pretty cool of a game but how many moves would there really be to make a kit around? Skul - great game, but there were just better well known games to fill the slots. Dust an elysian tale - same as above.
Seeing Nine sols and noita in the same video brings me joy. I'm in almost all of these fandoms so picking a favorite is tough. I'm really rooting for Yi and Survivor (even though they are both unbelievably cooked). Realistically this will be a fight between steve, terrarian, Mina, and MAYBE zagreus. Can't wait to see this!

If the power scaling goes the right way, I think some of the most likely to move forward are The Knight, The Terrarian, and Steve, though equipment loadouts could very easily turn the tides to favor the rouguelike/light characters (especially the NOITA person).
Zero being able to canonically avoid all damage will get him far… but will it be enough? I gotta lend my support to Yi. Fell in love with Nine Sols a while back, and I wanna see how far he gets.
3:19 Ok. I think it is important to see that they call the character “Slugcat” and not “The Survivor”. So, it can be any of the slugcats. I’m going for either Spearmaster or Artificer.
Oof Survivor is going to have a rough time. As much as a love that little Scug they do not have much going for them besides some survival based combat unless there’s a stockpile of singularity bombs stored in their stomach. I’d probably be more optimistic if it was almost any of the other Slugcat aside from Monk, pre-karma 10 Saint, and post 20 cycle but pre-rot hunter

Yeah I get that - I guess it started out as one but its kinda big now - although some argue (wrongfully imo) that ori is the same! And yeah but imagine - Slugcat with the upset victory!?
Depending on how many abilities from his game Ori gets, Id actually bet on him winning. I mean, of course it's my favourite game so there is some bias, but the insane amount of air movement he gets in will of the wisps as well as all the different weapons in his arsenal will be very useful. Also, doesn't he have like 20 health cells in that game? + Machine gun bow with quick shot and split shot go brrrr
@ In hindsight I should probably have mentioned how I create the movepools. especially for games that have high variance in build powers. Ideally I don't want to show the character at absolute best case scenario (for example, noita is a rogue-like, you can literally deal INFINITE damage and have literal INFINITE health but thats not your standard run) in a perfect world I will be able to show a powers general strength - and through mechanics give them the potential to get to those peaks if everything goes their way. but yeah Ori has some cool tools at their disposal!
If the characters are allowed to use their full potential, the knight has to win. I haven't played all of these games, but I know that most video game characters die almost instantly to the void.
Yep, the Terrarian will win this. I'm rooting for my boy! Edit: It depends on how you scale the Terrarian. Gameplay-wise, it's going to be close fights. But lore accurate-wise? The Terrarian would solo the entire roster it's not even funny

If I were to place bets, my choices priority would be in the following order: Mina Huntress Zagreus Terrarian Isaac Steve The penitent one Sans The beheaded The knight (assuming they're sized up because a real stag beetle is really tiny) Yi Drifter Cuphead Zero Ori Slugcat
The stag beetles in Hollow Knight are not anything like real life stag beetles, they are more like rhinoceros beetles. Also, the stag beetles in HK are sapient, so clearly not based off of their real life counterparts. Team Cherry themselves said they weren't too slavish to reality when making their bugs. Even without Team Cherry outright saying it, HK bugs have clear differences from real life bugs. My point is, there's nothing in game suggesting that the Hollow Knight bugs are the size of their real life counterparts. There are no humans or human-sized objects in Hollow Knight to compare the bugs' size to. Using real life bugs to determine the size of Hollow Knight bugs is folly. For all we know, Hollow Knight bugs could be bigger than humans.
@@iplaygames.3899 Yi's talismen alone isn't gonna win him a fight against the Knight. The Knight can just move out of the way when Yi tries to put a talismen on the Knight. The Knight could just counter-parry Yi, since it also has a parry. Also, The Knight's healing is much better than Yi's since it can replenish soul by attacking enemies then healing. Yi's medicine pipe can't be replenished in combat.

Hold on, what about the characters that canonically respawn, like Zagreus, Yi, and the Beheaded and the penitent one, and Slugcat etc? Will you remove their immortality for the sake of these fights? Also, MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DEAD CELLS: The Beheaded isn't a hero. He's revealed to be the king who imprisoned and executed his people out of paranoia. Once The Beheaded learns of his past self, he returns to his old habits and takes the cure for the malaise for himself and kills the only one who could make the cure.
I'll probably do a post regarding the rules and mechanics for things like this - but to state it simply - imagine they are in a physical tourney where leaving the arena is a loss - if they get slain but can resurrect at a later time, or at another place then while yes, they will still be alive they've still "lost" and are no longer present.
I wonder how you’ll work oris bash into the fight. Because it’s basically a perfect defence allowing ori to not get hit with any projectile or physical attack. Also I wonder if Steve will have Minecraft legends/dungeons feats or if it will just be the base game

Jokes aside, I want yi to win but ofc they against Steve, the most generic character that everyone is gonna root for cuz he’s Steve… I think either the terrarian or zagreus will win, if the terrarian has calamity gear instant win, and if zagreus has boons instant win. Otherwise, I feel like Isaac will just overwhelm the competition with bullets.
for the rain world character, I think you should have chosen artificer, spearmaster or gourmand, because they’re actually good at combat, unlike survivor
The survivor is a one shot kill. If it had abilities like the Downpour slugcats or any weapons that could turn the tide, then it chances of survival would change.

Whether Steve dominates this entire roster or not depends on how you scale him and the leverage you give, because this beast casually interacts with things close to, or beyond infinity and breaks the laws of physics on multiple occasions

That means, that she also can survive outside of the worlds, and not to be killed with /kill @e. The Knight is basically an incarnation of abyss. You know, what will happen, if Steve will deletes the world? There will be just abyss in its place, so The Knight will be okay. By the way, he could get stronger after the erasion, because he can just fuse with "outerworld abyss". Like, the abyss, which is left after the world erasion. Also, The Knight never ever was alive, so it's also impossible to kill him with /kill @e. And also, what can kill you even in the creative mode? The abyss under the bedrock.

It's wild that no one is talking about how unfair this is! Mina is more of a god than any greek god ever was! Mina's strongest form (both in game and canonically) is omnipotent. Theoretically, mina is infinitely strong, and infinitely fast, and has infinite HP. Just by pure stats mina clears all physical fighters. Her hax are UNMATCHED, black holes, white holes, gravity control, transmutation, transformation, cessation, teleportation, matter destruction, the list goes on.
Dude, even if steve will use creative mod + commands + world deletion, The Knight and Mina will still survive. The Knight, by the way, may become even stronger after the world deletion...
My personal favorite indie game character ever, and 1 of the greatest video game characters of all time. Is The Knight from Hollow Knight, I feel like their the most powerful on this list. Though I haven't played some of these games, I guess I will have to wait and see.
Guys, i took 4 strongest charachters out of this list (Mina, The Knight, Yi, Zagreus and Steve) and typed them in chat gpt. It typed me an extremely super long text. But if short: 1) Mina (Fully powered) 2) The Knight (Shadow Lord form) 3) Steve (Creative mode + commands + world deletion) 4) Zagreus (Lore powers) 5) Yi (Lore powers) But author definitely didn't picked the strongest indie game charachters, like Chara, Monika, Omori, ect.
Saying it now: Little Ghost from Hollow Knight SOLOS. Because it can regenerate, use spells, and IS THE SHADE LORD. Which DEVOURED THE INFECTION THAT PLAUGES HALLOWNEST. Ghost wins, EZ.

Why not Acrid for Risk of Rain 2? He is the only character who truly returns from the first game (the characters in risk of rain 2 that were in the first game, are different people with the same roles.) and I think he's more iconic with the Risk of Rain franchise than Huntress. But that's just me on the latter I suppose.
Yeah I guess its all depends on your experiences - my thought process is commando is the poster boy, but no one i know plays or likes commando so in my head huntress was the next closest thing and is rather popular in general - acrid would also have been a good choice though!
Why, out of all the RoR characters, would you pick Huntress? I'm not going to debate who's more powerful of the two starter characters in RoR2 (although, it is Commando), but Commando is far more iconic to the series.
I think while commando is the "poster child" Huntress is a 2nd close to that spot - and perhaps its just my own experience but I've never met a human on this earth who mains commando (also tbh Huntress has much cooler abilities!)

I think Isaac could beat cuphead, but it depends on what items he has access to. There are so many powerful items though, dead cat can revive him, brimstone, knife and sacred heart deal massive damage, infamy and wafer can reduce damage and fly orbitals can block damage altogether. Balancing might be difficult because there’s no definitive form of Isaac
Most likely the way I'll be doing rogue-like characters is I'll make a short list of possible items, and have them gain 1 each turn - I'll roll a random number generator so quite literally those fights could go either way. Hope I don't regret this decision 🤣

If the power scaling goes the right way, I think some of the most likely to move forward are The Knight, The Terrarian, and Steve, though equipment loadouts could very easily turn the tides to favor the rouguelike/light characters (especially the NOITA person).

Oof Survivor is going to have a rough time. As much as a love that little Scug they do not have much going for them besides some survival based combat unless there’s a stockpile of singularity bombs stored in their stomach.

Depending on how many abilities from his game Ori gets, Id actually bet on him winning. I mean, of course it's my favourite game so there is some bias, but the insane amount of air movement he gets in will of the wisps as well as all the different weapons in his arsenal will be very useful. Also, doesn't he have like 20 health cells in that game? + Machine gun bow with quick shot and split shot go brrrr

@ In hindsight I should probably have mentioned how I create the movepools. especially for games that have high variance in build powers. Ideally I don't want to show the character at absolute best case scenario (for example, noita is a rogue-like, you can literally deal INFINITE damage and have literal INFINITE health but thats not your standard run) in a perfect world I will be able to show a powers general strength - and through mechanics give them the potential to get to those peaks if everything goes their way. but yeah Ori has some cool tools at their disposal!

The stag beetles in Hollow Knight are not anything like real life stag beetles, they are more like rhinoceros beetles. Also, the stag beetles in HK are sapient, so clearly not based off of their real life counterparts. Team Cherry themselves said they weren't too slavish to reality when making their bugs. Even without Team Cherry outright saying it, HK bugs have clear differences from real life bugs.
My point is, there's nothing in game suggesting that the Hollow Knight bugs are the size of their real life counterparts. There are no humans or human-sized objects in Hollow Knight to compare the bugs' size to. Using real life bugs to determine the size of Hollow Knight bugs is folly.
For all we know, Hollow Knight bugs could be bigger than humans.

@@iplaygames.3899 Yi's talismen alone isn't gonna win him a fight against the Knight. The Knight can just move out of the way when Yi tries to put a talismen on the Knight. The Knight could just counter-parry Yi, since it also has a parry. Also, The Knight's healing is much better than Yi's since it can replenish soul by attacking enemies then healing. Yi's medicine pipe can't be replenished in combat.

Also, MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DEAD CELLS:
The Beheaded isn't a hero. He's revealed to be the king who imprisoned and executed his people out of paranoia. Once The Beheaded learns of his past self, he returns to his old habits and takes the cure for the malaise for himself and kills the only one who could make the cure.
I'll probably do a post regarding the rules and mechanics for things like this - but to state it simply - imagine they are in a physical tourney where leaving the arena is a loss - if they get slain but can resurrect at a later time, or at another place then while yes, they will still be alive they've still "lost" and are no longer present.
Technically Yi does die though, he'll just get reincarnated via the Root Node

It's wild that no one is talking about how unfair this is! Mina is more of a god than any greek god ever was! Mina's strongest form (both in game and canonically) is omnipotent.
Theoretically, mina is infinitely strong, and infinitely fast, and has infinite HP.
Just by pure stats mina clears all physical fighters.
Her hax are UNMATCHED, black holes, white holes, gravity control, transmutation, transformation, cessation, teleportation, matter destruction, the list goes on.
I feel like Mina is both potentially the weakest and strongest character at the same time and that is pretty funny to me.

Why not Acrid for Risk of Rain 2? He is the only character who truly returns from the first game (the characters in risk of rain 2 that were in the first game, are different people with the same roles.) and I think he's more iconic with the Risk of Rain franchise than Huntress. But that's just me on the latter I suppose.
Yeah I guess its all depends on your experiences - my thought process is commando is the poster boy, but no one i know plays or likes commando so in my head huntress was the next closest thing and is rather popular in general - acrid would also have been a good choice though!

Why, out of all the RoR characters, would you pick Huntress? I'm not going to debate who's more powerful of the two starter characters in RoR2 (although, it is Commando), but Commando is far more iconic to the series.
I think while commando is the "poster child" Huntress is a 2nd close to that spot - and perhaps its just my own experience but I've never met a human on this earth who mains commando (also tbh Huntress has much cooler abilities!)

I think Isaac could beat cuphead, but it depends on what items he has access to. There are so many powerful items though, dead cat can revive him, brimstone, knife and sacred heart deal massive damage, infamy and wafer can reduce damage and fly orbitals can block damage altogether. Balancing might be difficult because there’s no definitive form of Isaac
Most likely the way I'll be doing rogue-like characters is I'll make a short list of possible items, and have them gain 1 each turn - I'll roll a random number generator so quite literally those fights could go either way. Hope I don't regret this decision 🤣
