I have 4 Seiko's with screw down crowns including a MM200 SPB079. All of them require a little back spin to be sure to find the start of the thread. Seiko screw in crown action feel somewhat like the Rolex twinlock crown, not particularly smooth. While the Rolex triplock feels very smooth due to an o ring within the crown. Now on to that Chronostop. In the late 70's my friend came to school one day wearing this Omega Chronostop on an expandable mesh bracelet(I think it originally came on that). He obtained it from his elder brother somehow. I handled it for a while and remember the start, stop and reset were performed by the same button. I believe Oris had a similar watch at the time or later. I think the Chronostop just had the text 'Geneve' above the 6 o'clock and the watch has always been part of my memories. Memories that include the final yrs of school with my good friend, I hope he is well. Would be grateful if you could share your story of that beautiful piece. Either way just seeing it made me smile. Thank you☺💜
First I want to say I really appreciate you sharing your story. It brought a smile to my face. It’s funny how watches can bring us back to special moments in our lives. Will be working on a video of it soon. Thank you for the inspiration my friend. Have yourself a fantastic start to 2021 😃
@@perpetuality I have been fortunate to have handled some classic timepieces at an early age. My father bought a solid gold Omega piepan on mesh strap for a steal the day before gold standard was removed in the early 70's. A few years later he came home with a Rolex Sea Dweller, which we sold in the early 90's while on a trip to Miami. Only yrs later to discover we let go a very valuable double red. These two pieces along with the Chronostop hold a special place in my heart🤗 Thank you and Happy New year to you too. Oh btw, love that MM300. I'm considering one myself. Just not sure whether to get the black or one like yours.
Great review. Just picked this up last week and still not worn yet. The black version (SLA021) is my most worn watch out of my 30 watch collection, which includes more expensive Swiss pieces. Great great watch. Anyone who likes divers should really consider one of these.
I know this is three years on, but great work pointing out the strengths of this watch. I've been wearing the SLA023 as a daily for the past year and can attest to the awkward crown, it takes that quick, counter-clockwise twist to get to the starting point. I was wondering the same about it being just my watch as I have a first generation Monster and a the SBBN031 Tuna and they both are effortless when it comes to the crown.
I love stopping by and checking out your new videos. It's always a pleasure to see how your channel is progressing in quality -- your photography in particular is " crackin' " in this video! :)
Great review. I just received my Marinemaster SLA047 from Bezel House and couldn't be happier. They were awesome and Marinemaster rivals any of my Rolex, Tudor, Panerai, Omega, and Grand Seiko. In fact, I think this is the best Seiko or Grand Seiko diver hands down especially considering value proposition. Cheers
Great review. This piece is too chunky for me to ever wear, but it's always nice to appreciate it from afar. Fantastic production quality and lighting too!
Super kind of you to say, Initially I had the same feeling regarding the size. But it does shrink down on the wrist because of the relatively reasonable lug length. No getting away from the thickness, some like the wrist presence- others prefer a more elegant case- this is like a chunky professional tool with grand seiko finishing. Thanks for watching friend!
I love that watch, I’ve got the reasonably priced Sumo Gen 3 with the 6R35 movement, yes the MM is a superior finished movement, clasp and indices but there’s not enough between the two for the price difference IMO.....certainly not at retail.
Really Chris. I have the Sumo Black limited edition with the 6r35 movt. I,m not impressed with the 6r35, however comparing £1000 watches to £3000 watches is always going to reveal differences in quality.
@@seamasterist what problems are you having with the 6R35? My Sumo runs about 11 seconds fast a day which admittedly isn’t great but my Tudor Black bay which was 4 times the price was the same .
I’ve always loved the look of these. The finishing. The dial. So good. But it’s heavy and tallish. I tried one but with a rubber strap that I didn’t care for. I wonder how my thoughts would change if I could try it on the bracelet.
Very nice seiko. I got the turtle Padi, the difference in price is a point to take. Please review that beautiful Omega you showed at the end of the video. Thks.
Really good, thorough review. Finally, someone who appreciates the clasp! It's a really practical clasp for diving. This is an amazing watch, probably closest to the Tudor Pelagos in terms of quality, although I'd trust the reliability of the Seiko more. For me, its only downsides are the new Prospex logo which cheapens the look and the bracelet, which works fine, but is aesthetically a bit crude compared to the latest from Omega, Tudor and Rolex (but hey, no fake rivets!). A bonafide pro dive watch for wannabe watch money.
Couldnt agree more its an honest high quality diver's watch and there are rumours that it will be discontinued soon.. thanks for watching and commenting!
I got the cheaper version of this watch (SPB207 I think) with the green dial and I'm pretty in love with it. I like the different finishes on the case and the bracelet is so comfortable.
The blue and the green version a both really stunning. I just reviewed my black Marine Master on my channel. Sometimes im tempted to add some color to my collection!
@@perpetuality Thank you I would really appreciate that! I am just starting out. I just posted my review on the Marathon MSAR right now. Really digging this watch as its only 36mm but it is still a Mil-spec 300 meter diver!
I feel this is a wasted opertunety by Seiko, if they were to listen to the public on the issues this watch has and then refined them you really would have special watch on your hands, the mm300 has many unessary issues that after over 100 years of watch manufacturering shouldn't be there. In regards to the Crown operating, I can't believe its still present (yes) the Crown has a unessary fine thread just begging be striped. A issue that's not present on a sumo, which begs the question why Seiko why.
Thanks buddy! The SLA023 hands down. It’s a shade of blue that is just not done on any of seikos divers. In natural light it’s a rich blue enhanced by the inner domed crystal. Looks more upscale IMO than the sla021
This watch with the LX line bracelet style would be perfect. The bracelet really lacks behind in terms od design and looks dated. Same as the bracelet on the Omega SMP300.
Is it worth buying mm300 without un adjusted movement?what’s the daily accuracy of the watch?can the watch fit in small size wrist?any issues problems while using the tool watch?
Yes it's worth it,(if you NEED accuracy, get a quartz),+15 -10spd,fits small wrists well(but it does weigh nearly a half pound),no issues using tool watch working for Ironworker or Stage Hand Unions
The MM200 stands on its own and it is great value. You're getting 70% of the feel of the MM300 for less than half the price. Where the MM200 lets you down is the bracelet, but can be easily remedied by adding the pseudo glidelock from mm300. I found however the MM300 has more wrist presence and the dial and prominant hands are much nicer. You wouldnt be disappointed with the MM200 for the money. I did a review comparing both watches in my playlist :)
How long did Ryan take to send you shipping notification? 7 months? He no longer owns the Bezel House. Couldn't keep up with orders as it was a part time business. Hopefully new ownership will be better. Couldn't be worse than when Ryan ran it. Just brutal CS.
A fair complaint, many I’ve seen don’t. But this one was dead on..but it was probably due to the angle i filmed the bezel. but of course it’s in a different price point than majority of the other seiko divers. Still something seiko needs to work on
Who is actually diving down at 300 meters really? At that depth your down time is so low and it is so dark that it problaly wouldn't be fun unless you are working in oil rigs and then i would ratter have a dive computer lol
just got the newest SLA039 from Ryan at Bezelhouse. amazing watch for the price. about the problem screwing in the crown, my 2020 SLA021 had this problem too. but they seems to have corrected this with the newest revision, with the lume at 3. crown action is much nicer and the unscrewing and screwing in and clicks are almost rolex like.

Its a really cool piece for sure. I've had the mm300 for 10 years and just busted it out again and absolutely love it!
Fantastic video, full of information! Wearing my SLA047. as I watch!👍

Wow beautiful shots you have of the MM300.. you make me want to revisit this watch again!
Great review. Always been a big fan of the MM300. I thought about getting this very SLA023 but ended up with a SLA037 instead.
Sounds like you made a fantastic choice :)

Thanks for watching Dave!

I would say the MM is an actual tool and the BB58 is a fashion watch.

The black dial is stunning as it makes that gold second hand pop. But I agree these color variants have some social mojo. I’ll check out your video!

Having both of these I can say without a doubt the 300 is superior. Matter of fact I like the 62mas reissues more than the mm200.
Do you have problem with triangle lume area?
Beautiful intro
Bezel House, as in Calgary?
A few years later, I finally pulled the trigger on an SLA023, from Bezel House.
great video!
Seiko crowns screw in not as smooth. It is normal. Little rough but never been an issue.

such a quiet video.

"Star of the bracelet is the diver's extension?" It's the very worst part of the entire watch. Seiko can't make a bracelet or clasp.
