It’s actually not a bad idea. Adding the hardwired ethernet connection boosts the speed incredibly and adding additional space gives you more options. I particularly like the idea of the hardwired ethernet. When I work on my laptop computer I always connect the ethernet cable directly because I like fast equipment.

I notice some people are having trouble with the ethernet portion of the installation. I had some initial problems as well and went through resetting the router etc. Nothing worked until in exasperation I remembered I was plugging into a switch for the ethernet which I keep in my media room for all the electronics that needs updating via 'net etc. I unplugged the ethernet cord coming from the switch and plugged the main and rather long internet cord from my computer room directly in. It worked immediately. Then I tried using the cord from the switch instead (basically reverting to inital state of affairs) and THAT worked too. Perhaps the switch just needed a bit of a nudge to recognize the device..not sure but I know some of you will know why. I'm just glad it all works for me now including that cool remote. Hope that helps someone...I know how it can be when you've tried everything and still no luck. Great video!

OTG cable is it just a adapter, and is it capable of usb 3.0 speeds from the hub? It says USB 2.0 Micro-B host OTG, and if that's the case USB hub behind with 3.0 speeds are really running at usb 2.0 speeds...and is not fully utilized.... maybe I rather get a hub with USB 2.0....

I have watched many of your Firestick related videos and have learned a lot. I installed a TP Link Deco system in our 2 story home and solved our weak WiFi signal problem ! Thanks for that ... I don't think they do 1. Even if there was a 3.0 it would more than likely act as a 2.0 because of the device.

Hi, thanks for this because I was wondering what I needed for the usb remote. But the one your link takes me to is £27 so more than the 4K firestick I bought when Amazon did there sale week end. Still sitting in the box so went to instal and didn't know it even needed power, I thought all that was through the actual usb once connected. 😖😖
I've been using the firs Amazon box which has all the bits on the back without needing all these additional cables.
Once on Amazon others is an additional usb connected next to it that is 16.99. Will this do the job too. Thanks again. Ian

Had to go to the UK to find help from this young lady on how to get and use ES files at "A BRIEF OVERVIEW | INSTALL & USE ES FILE EXPLORER | AMAZON FIRESTICK | 2020". This method worked perfectly the first time. But if it wasn't for your video, I don't know if I would have ever heard of ES file and how to watch movies I've recorded on the firestick. I have an older tv with no USB ports. I was using a Raspberry Pi for a couple of years when I was using Kodi, but it constantly had very complex problems, and now with the firestick, I don't need Kodi and this is so much easier and less complex.
Followed along and had no problems setting external drive. My question is can the Firestick w/external gear be moved to another tv within your network without problems? What about another tv away from network, ex. On vacation?

For anyone else looking through the comments, I just got mine to work by pulling out the USB connection that goes into the OTG, ever so slightly. Seems to be a fault when it's plugged all the way in. Absolute crap design flaw.

I can see one of my flasdrives, bit not the other and those programs will not load properly.
Love your content...however i bought and installed these items and my fire TV is still reading "wifi", i see no option for switching over to Ethernet connection.
Hey ya'll the problem was the Ugreen usb hub...wire had a break in it, I guess from being tightly folded for packaging...when i jiggled the wire it would come on and off...just try another brand, there are many out there.
You should buy the cables/dongles and sell them as a package, i would buy one off you and give pay a little more for them,It takes the hassle out of buying them separately.

Hi Adam. Ordered OTG cable & hub from your links. First try nothing happened but on second attempt I really gave the connections a good push & it sprang into life. Really good download speed compared to Amazon's own adaptor. Well chuffed. Cheers pal. Think it was the firestick power lead that was a tight fit.

I have this hub and it doesn't work , the Firestick doesn't see it , the ethernet cable or the USB dongle .
Check aliexpress for it. I have had ugreen cables delivered to me fine (I live in the UK) but ugreen post globally.
I have 3 different hubs I purchased over the years.
They are all "cheapies"', "
(about $5 or less) and to my surprise, they all work just fine for this application.

Get the OTG cable in the description, the UGreen USB hub, then add a USB flash drive. This was a bit of a "paint by numbers" vid. I did what he said, got the products he provided links too, Bam! All works great, give it a shot yo!
ZeroIN28 I did the splitter with a 32g usb stick. I still get low storage. Did you have to do anything else to recognize the usb stick
@@wakeuppeople7327 Same here, it seems you cant download apps onto the usb, and any movies etc you want to download to your usb cant be done as the apps wont let you change to a different directory. It sets up its own folder on your internal, there was one app that let me change it to my usb but actually downloading anything just showed up with an error.
@@wakeuppeople7327 apps still use internal storage in order to operate. Added external storage and put apps on it and only saved a little storage.
Do a factory reset and do not download any movies or tv shows to your device...when you do your monthly maintenance every apk in manage all applications that gives you only three options, clear the data... everything else clear the cache and force stop... that should give you at least 1gb of extra memory

If I plug the firestick 4k into a soundbar with Dolby Atmos (Bose 900), will that allow the soundbar to output in Atmos and then send 1080 vid to tv via hdmi ( hdmi out on the soundbar)? Older plasma tv that doesn't have an output for Atmos.

No bud. Most people watching will already own a Firestick to start. You get HD Netflix, Prime etc too. Updates are supported. A lot prefer the Firestick layout. ETC.ETC. Name me a box for the accessory budget that would beat it 🙃

Remember the storage has to be formatted Fat 32, otherwise it won't be shown.
Mine is actually set to ExFat and the firestick formatted it when plugging in bud.

How are you getting your hub to power on with no 6v power lead? I got mine to set up same as yours but 1 micro lead going to the mains plug but it wont fire up the stick
Worked great thanks with memory stick formatted as Fat 32. I formatted the stick to NTFS as I had a movie which is 6gig It then does not show. Any advice
