- On Saturday November 2, St Mary's in Holy Trinity, Parnell, Auckland hosted a unique concert experience as Eddie Rayner, keyboard maestro and original member of Split Enz, presented brand new arrangements of Split Enz classics in an exciting new live production... ENZO-Stranger Than Fiction.

I love this as much as the original. Love the way Jesse Sheehan sings the word Spellbound with falsetto. (A singer to keep an eye on). Magical.
Super to see you guys together again, man, what a beautiful guitar solo from Wally.

Basically my favourite Enz song so I'm a little critical. Phill Judd sang the original (Mental Notes) and for mine his vocal effort can not be bettered. Wilkinson did the original lead so one would expect this to be note perfect (and it was). For you youngsters out there I urge you to embrace that early album, a work of art and ahead of its time X 100 yrs.
There's an earlier recording of Spellbound where Tim Finn sings it (same melody as here) on The Beginning of the Enz which predates the Mental Notes recording.
Nice rendition of a classic early 'Enz number, when , in my view,they were at their creative peak
Play it at 0.75 speed to get the Mental Notes Tempo :D

This arrangement is plastic bling. If Phil Judd is not available then anyone can sing it but only when alone at home
