Kinda shows that as far as the Empire was concerned, Luke was the same kind of boogeyman to them that Vadar was to the Rebellion.
You see Moff figurativaly shitting his pants when he sees Luke. His look is of pure terror.
Thinking : That's the guy who defeated the Two Embodiment of Fear.
@@teammfmjamie When Legendary figures are involved, people will either completly eggagerate the tale or make it small. Since Luke probably used his power a few time between ROTS and Mando, People would know it's not the latter case. So they would start treating him like an absolute legend.
The only possible case is people didn't fear darth vader or the emperor's name during the rebellion, because they didn't know about them.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have started the rebellion in the first place, knowing even if they crushed the imperial force, they could never deal with the force users.
@@teammfmjamie technically both Luke and Vader came out of the throne room, but Vader died a little bit later before they left the Death Star.
Yup, and not many people knew Anakin Skywalker was Vader, but many older people probably remembered the brilliant and powerful Jedi General from the clone wars namned Skywalker.
(It was revealed later in Canon who Vader was to the public, though, but i doubt Moff Gideon knew Vader was Anakin Skywalker. But i bet he knew about Anakin Skywalker when he was younger)
"Luke wasn’t exactly ‘The Boogeyman': he was the one you sent to confront the fuckin’ Boogeyman."
Two very different reactions when you see them,
Luke - we’re saved
Vader -we’re dead
For fans.
For the characters, they can’t tell the difference in Luke’s. Dude in a hood shows up with a laser sword, cuts down the invincible battle droids like it’s nothing, and enters the room with his weapon still out? They’re keeping guns on him.
The only people who know what a Jedi even is are Fennec and Bo-Katan, and even Fennec keeps her rifle up. Pretty sure Bo-Katan aims at Luke, as well.

Yeah well one of the dark troopers could have done basically as much damage as Vader did. Luke had a much more impressive adversary
Both are perfectly in character.
Vader's is brutal and angry, he's an absolute powerhouse. The whole hallway is painted red by his lightsaber to signify his domination of the situation.
Luke is also in total control, but of himself, and through the patience and technique he worked so hard through the original trilogy to earn. He's mysterious, careful, and his strikes are deliberate and well placed, he's one with the force.
Agreed! Lukes technique is perfect!
@@DefMM123 Yep. If Vader is the Mike Tyson of Star Wars: heavy, powerful, fierce and totally dominating, then Luke is Muhammad Ali. A little more agile, he plays it safe, backs off and waits, and focuses, then knows exactly when and how to strike.
Agreed but luke wasn’t one with the force in this scene
Vader lost in his hallway scene, as the rebels escaped. Luke won.
I agree with your analogy. Luke’s was much more impressive though. He was up against much tougher competition, and they weren’t panicking with half of them trying to run away. Yet he still casually and effortlessly walked right through them in total control.
From Moff’s perspective:
The Emperor, Darth Vader, and Luke walked into a room.
Only Luke came out.
Now he’s here.

@@savagebeafy Maybe Luke's weakness is snow? I bet he has PTSD from Hoth

what i love about those scenes is that they show us again how powerful ONE jedi can be! especially Luke. 3 Mandalorians, a Shock Trooper and a Sniper would stand no chance, but a Jedi is doing this on his own with EASE.
Definitely adds some perspective. Like sure Mandos can hold their own and tear through most people like a hot knife through butter, but it’s definitely nice having a Jedi or two for when the shit really hits the fan.
I love how because Mando is set from the POV of normal humans the Jedi have a scary mysterious aura.
To be fair, it seemed like the dark troopers didn't plan very well. Im not a master with battle tactics, but when they lined up like that only the first two could shoot. In vader's scene the front guys crouched down to let the back guys shoot as well. Maybe a few dark troopers could've gone to the sides of the elevator to shoot at luke from multiple sides. It's still an awesome scene, but I think vader's demonstrates his power better than Luke's did.
To be fair, that is not just any Jedi.
Not any jedi. Do you really think Ezra could've pulled this off? Cal? Ahsoka maybe, but I kind of doubt it, since she went toe to toe with Mando and struggled against the Magistrate. This scene is a statement about how powerful Luke is. If any other living jedi walked through those elevator doors, I'm not sure they make it out.
I like that they managed to sync both scenes perfectly, the timing for the force grabs, pushes, and pulls were all timed in a manner that makes you wonder if they did it intentionally lol
I think they did exactly that, to give us the like-father-like-son poetic endings.
It's Filoni and Favreau. It was intentional. Remember these guys were fans of this stuff before it became their jobs. Contractually, you'll never hear them say it, but I'm sure as fans they were just as let down by the sequel trilogy. So to pay homage to the greatest Star Wars moment since Vader's redemption in Jedi, that's a no brainer.
The symmetry is definitely intentional, and the fact that Luke pushes at the moment that Vader pulls is deliberate. It’s a powerful way to illustrate Luke and Vader as opposite sides of the same coin. They are father and son, after all, no matter how different they may be. It’s a depiction of balance in the force.

"I am a badass, like my father before me."
i feel like luke's scene he's moving from one enemy to the next taking them out with a bit of "calmness" i guess, where vader is just constantly moving forward cutting through them left and right with rage
From what I can remember Star Wars Theory said;
Anikin/Vader fight style was essentially 'attack attack counter/force use', that it's always been his thing to keep attacking forward. Idk about Luke but if he learn from Yoda (one strike /parry ish style) and Obi-Wan (counter /Def style) than his can be seen as a combination of those two and I can see it displayed in this hallway scene
Well, Anakin was still overwhelmingly bitter over the fact that even after he willingly fell to the darkside and still lost his wife. What he had left was just rage, and rage kept him alive and going forward.
So, I interpreted his hallway scene as a narration of him as a tragic villain.
That’s because the rebels were running away from Darth Vader with fear knowing they had no chance hence he just kept walking forward. The Dark Troopers on the hand are devoid of emotion so they confront Luke and fight. Either way the end result is still the same.
I think it's hypocritical to "nicely " kill your enemies.

One ignites his sabre, and our heartbeats skip with fear. We know this monster. One ignites his sabre, and our heartbeats skip with hope. We know this hero.
They both instill a feeling of power and elegance. An air of confidence: one experienced, one youthful. We know that they’ll both win in their own ways. They have so much in common that it almost feels like one is a copy of the other.

Honestly this scene made me realise how scary Vader was to people, it's like a monster got on board
That Skywalker swag when they walk.....Boss😎
Feel like you could break down Luke's hallway scene forever. It shows how far hes come not just measuring up to Vaders skill but how hes surpassed him. In Vader's hallway scene he slaughtered the rebels who were psychologically beaten from the start, where Luke battles lifeless, emotionless, cold, ruthless, calculating machines, that even sort of resemble Vader, and are shown to be much more deadly than mere human combatants. And also how Luke's hallway scene is like in a reverse to Vaders, where vaders saber is ignited and illuminates the shadows at the start, Luke's illuminates the smoke at the end.
That's Very interesting
I was thinking almost exactly the same
This version of Luke is as powerful if not more so than Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of The Sith.
Pretty sure Vader would have F'd up the droids too.
Shown to be more deadly than mere human combatants even though they did absolutely nothing in the entire season except take a passed out Grogu.

Rey who?
NOBODY!
No Rey, you're a palpatine but because you're a coward you hide behind someone elses name instead of changing what yours means to the galaxy
Ahsoka deserves a hallways scene to Thrawn
I love how the force abilities are even synced up. Nicely done
1:01 that timing was incredible.
I adore how different the scenes are while being so similar, just the choreography alone really serves the reaction they're trying to hit home in the audience
Both are tearing through them effortlessly yes, but with Vader, his posturing and modestly constricted actions (while being still graceful) give the impression at how robotic and imposing he is, coldly and efficiently mowing through lives as he's gotten used to it by now
Luke on the other is very dynamic, portraying Luke's youth, his finesse at his prime. Using the force to promptly force people away and just deal with them (in comparison to how Vader does his signature force choke where the dread of knowing you aren't coming home sets in rapidly as you lose your faculties)
The choice to use robots and humans for Luke and Vader's scenes respectively is also cool as they serve as opposites of each other (Vader being a robot, tearing through people while Luke goes through the cold robots)
And yes, the shots were also bloody great, I forget how fantastic Vader's shots are, it really plays more like a horror movie rather than an action adventure, just seeing the close ups on the rebels' faces is a signature horror movie shot
While with Luke's they focus more on his rush to save his friends as well as his prowess as a young man in his prime while encapsulating the hope in the other characters' eyes, hell, Baby Yoda's gesture towards the computer screen hits home
Vader: That's my boy!
This is Star Wars. 7, 8, 9 were just bullshit.

I think a Jedi, especially a really powerful one, is always dancing with the Dark Side. The temptation to give into one’s anger (especially justified anger) is always there.
The combination of the two scores actually turned out awesome
The "horror choir" in the Darth Vader scene is amazing with Mandalorian's soundtrack, which is trying to fill you with wonder and relief
Love the fact that a single x-wing boarding an Imperial craft made everyone inside the craft absolutely shit their pants. Its good to see that Luke was more of devastating for of nature to the Empire than just another jedi.
Luke at this point is a myth. The kind of myth that made the imperials shit their pants.
He was their Boogeyman.
Ever heard the expression 'Its like throwing a Skywalker down a hallway?' Well you have now.
Vader's scene was full of fear
Luke's scene was full of hopes
"The Force is strong in my family..."
I love how when side by side, you see, for all their differences, Luke and Vader are very much similar.
Luke's style is swift, graceful and elegant, while Vader's is slow, methodical and effective.
Yet still, they're without fear, giving no ground, constantly pushing forward, and despite being vastly outnumbered and outgunned, they always have the advantage.
The way the light sabers ignite at the same time gives me goosebumps every time
The editing and timing are so good! Mad props
But but, I thought Luke would just throw his lightsaber over his shoulder and go hide and pout somewhere like a little bitch? Oh wait..... that's just the Ruin Johnson fake version of Luke. This is the real Luke.
I don’t believe in the Disney trilogy. It offends me.
@@matthewsheehan4766 I don't like disney. It's course, rough, irritating and it gets everywhere
@@ethanbolger6690 And they had the AUDACITY to bury Anakin’s sabers in sand.
@@ethanbolger6690 bruh Disney is the one responsible for both the mandalorian AND rogue one. Blame J.J Abrams not Disney.
Its easy to mistake Jake for Luke Skywalker by appearance alone.
