Portable fishing rigs are a huge target in the fishing industry, but getting one that checks all the boxes has been tough. Inflatable boats & skiffs have now started to evolve to the point where they will potentially relegate both kayaks & small boats to the bottom of the line. In this video, we make our case as to why.

I had the Lite Air Skiff (I got one in for review) in the Keys this week. It's so light! I launched it through the ramp like a kayak on a kayak cart, turned my 3hp electric motor in reverse, and sat looking at the bridge. I was able to match the current and stay at casting distance from the bridge, where I caught dinner and a micro goliath grouper. Then, I went to the sandbar looking like area, jumped off the boat, like you would off a dock, diving and filmed a walkthrough video.
When I looked up, the weather had turned nasty! Heavy winds, dark skies, and ugly waves rolled in. I hit the motor hard, hitting big waves head-on, but this thing just kept going through. The water drainage system works like a champ - I never for a second felt unstable or that I was going to flip. It is the real deal for sure; this is a fishing skiff.
That’s good to know it can take some waves.
@@MattnUska and also oysters! I'm releasing a video today inflatable vs oyster bed lol
I love my Bris boat that I got on Amazon for $800. 5 years of hard use and still in excellent shape.

A year ago it was true for me. I’m down over 80+ lbs now.
This is exactly what I have been looking for. It’s like an inflatable fishing SUP you can put a motor on.
Yes, it’s perfect!
A little cleaner. I like it (although it may be a tad more difficult to convert back to a stern drive tiller handle if necessary) it shouldn’t be too hard. I just ordered an Autoboat a few days ago thinking it was the previous system (which obviously is great too), but it looks like the new shipments will all be the smart heads & that’s what I’ll be getting in September. I’m stoked.
I love the lite skiff I will be getting one soon.
love the lite skiff air. I currently have a sea eagle fold cat 375.
Awesome! I have the AUTOBOAT but this upgrade is so much better!
It's only better because it's simpler to deal with. They work about the same.
I love this. Put the autoboat and Lite Skiff Air in my cart a few days ago. There aren't many videos out there for it and I really want to see it with an outboard. I have a Solo Skiff with a 6hp and would be starting with that and maybe upgrading to a 10hp later. The only video out there with an outboard was Aliex's and his outboard wasn't working so no footage of that. I would love to be able to take this with me when I travel and throw it in the RV or in the back of my truck, which is something I really can't do with the Solo. This seems so much more stable than the Solo skiff as well.
I really want to like this boat but I just have this mental block about inflatables haha. In Texas every lake is filled with stumps and trees, and inshore id be curious about oyster beds. Im also wondering how this boat handles big wake from boats on big lakes like Lake Texoma.
Damn that's awesome I'll be ordering the auto boat when I pull the trigger on the lite skiff. I wasn't a fan of having to us the front compartment for that box. I need it for tackle, I have a tackle addiction.
I get what your saying about Lyman Lake I was there this week and got skunked. very difficult lake to fish.
Nice, would like to see one made with a Intex brand boat.
I am on the fence about this boat. When I search UA-cam for videos I find about 11. Some of which are from TB Nation. The others are from influencers who received their boat for free. This is why I am on the fence. it is the widest and seems to be the most stable boat that I have found but it seems odd that there are no other videos from non-influencer people.
Well, you can just look at the hard facts that correlate from all videos and make a determination. You would probably be happy with the outcome
It would be nice to keep the hand tiller though!
I hear what you're saying about people complaining about the same two things - but I truly wish it were cheaper I'd buy it in a minute. I think most people would too but 2,500 isn't really doable for most people - definitely not for me lol. But if you could get it down to between $400 - $600 millions of people would be open to this boat. For $2,500 I could get a lot of options for boats, and if I have that to spend on a boat I'm not really looking to get an economical boat (in terms of size, weight, and space - of course boats can get a lot more expensive) lol. But the very people who would benefit most from this product are the people who can't afford it 😞
These are all similar to the original Saturn Kaboats, which are 1/2 the price.
@@jimsomerville3924 I hear ya, for me I just feel if I'm going to spend more than $1,000 on a boat I would rather get more boat ha especially when I consider what I could get used (FB marketplace etc). The portability is awesome but again most people who want that feature do so bc they don't have the space to keep a boat. If it were at least on par with a canoe then I feel it would better serve the market.
If we place a pre-order for the Autoboat systems arriving in September, will we receive the new head/system?
Very cool rig!
Can you describe your mounting solution for the trolling motor there?
I have an inflatable with a transom essentially glued to the middle of the bow; but I've been worried the weight of the trolling motor (with AutoBoat 😎 ) may be a little too heavy for the bow like that and it's also a bit awkward to reach and deploy.
I would like to place it like yours in the video, offset and down the line of the angle of the front tube. Would TBN have a solution for that?
Thanks!
When will the autoboat head be available?
My shoulders and arms are screaming at me too after I fish for a while
Hoping it gets better for us!
I like inflatables a lot but have always had trouble with wind on the pontoons how doses this rig do with wind?
Hey tbn you see the new bonafide xtr130? It’s almost like it’s a kayak that wants to be a tiny boat 😂
Gotta build an inflatable paddle board next
oh man.... theres just some things that shouldn't be built.
Already exists, Bote has had them for years.
Do you prefer li-time over power queen?
Do you have to license your boat with your residence state when you run electric motors on public waterways? Thanks.
Probably depends on the state. Where I live you are supposed to license it even if it’s electric. Check your DMV or ask fish and game.
What is the differen e between this or a Minn Kota
If I knew you guys were gonna come out with this new set up I would’ve wait. Now I can’t even refund to get the update version.
It's not any better, it's just simpler. They both work the same.
@@TinyBoatNation that’s what I want lol the more simple the better. Less time setting up, but I have been enjoying mine tho.
i’m 115lb on my heaviest
it's nice but too pricey
The buyers remorse goes away, I promise.
👍👍👍👍👍😄😄😄😄😄
i ROBOT !
Mfers got to much money
I have my doubts about the practically of this kayak
Correct me if I error
People are addicted to convince and bass fisherman are no different and tend to shy away from the inconvenience of labor intensive equipment
I dont see how this kayak design while absolutely awesome for storage and transport it will not again IMO quickly become very tiresome having to load everything you put on it into your vehicle transport everything you have on it install everything on it and then remove everything from it once done for the day load it in your vehicle and transport everything home unload and store it
Talking your anchor system propulsion system power source for same, rod holder system electronics electronics mounting system electronics power source all the wiring for anything electricly powered essentially anything you put in your kayak will need to be removed and installed every time you use it
As my 12' kayak sits now I just load it in my 8' bed of my truck inload it at the lake load my tackle box and 4 rods in my rod crate attach my electronics, put on my PFD and go fishing as everything else is already in the kayak tethered in place
If all you will do is go fisherman with the barest minimum of equipment as in no electronics and paddle only and a rod crate and 1 or 2 tackle organizers its great but if you have to attach electronics a transducer, anchor sustem trolling motor batteries wiring for it all that quickly becomes a huge PITA
DECISIONS - NS130 vs. ISLE inflatable vs. WILDERNESS ITAK vs. AIR SKIFF 🤔😮💨🤕 (I think I'm going with an inflatable over a hard plastic yak for my first fishing vessel 🎣) - military 🪖 family that moves alot.. Any feedback will be appreciated 👏?
The air skiff is heat welded and has the most accessories.
@TinyBoatNation it's on the high end of all the aforementioned inflatables. Will consider the heat welding. 💡👌🏾
