Man, Thank you very much for your words, for this video. I never took a film course, but I always liked taking pictures and recording videos. I am often a little ashamed. But as you said, you have to do it because I can't be like a stupid idiot. Thank you very much. Maybe recording this month for the first time at a party. Great hug from Brazil.
FANTASTIC TIPS! Love this video bro. I shoot nightlife as well and can attribute my success to a lot of the same things you covered here! Shooting a lot of extra footage is HUGE! I’ve gotten some of my best shots unintentionally because of this 🙏 definitely subscribing!
most important tip in my opinion which is not mentioned is to actually feel the music and understanding lighting and effects in order to anticipate shots
I am going to print a shirt with "Not the photographer" on it to wear when filming gigs. Nothing worse than capturing someone in the moment, they see you and then stop and pose for a photo. Or having someone grab you while you are filming "hey mate, come take our photo" :D Really love the content! Would like to see the gear you use when filming for gigs
Bro i love ur channel so so much. Ive been doing event videography for about 1 and half years but learn so much from this video still. Would love to see ur editing process in future videos :)
Jesse Glover thank you! Glad you been getting something out of it! And of course man got lots of bits lined up! Check out my Instagram as well as post lots of editing bits especially on grading @evpro_
Very nice bro, never thought about using a percentage to balance out the content ratio. my job is going to mainly focusing on the DJ to help him launch his brand and website so i'll play with them a percentages a bit. Was going to ask about preferred focusing modes but I guess thats all going to be preference for what feel and emotion youre trying to achieve
Really useful tips! Even though im only on a GoPro right now, I still love my vlogs / after movies filmed in festivals and clubs. No matter how much I film, I feel like I'm always missing a few unique shots. Will definitely take your advice onboard mate :)
Not all about the gear man, all about the person behind it! Yeah man just try as much as possible and shoot more than you need. Practise makes perfect man you got this 🙏🏼
Fantastic man! I only covered some of the basics in this and I am going to do an in-depth series on loads of different aspects so hopefully will be able to help you out!
Hello, I had a small question concerning the settings for the SLOG 2. Could you explain the characteristics settings that you have made on the SONY A7SII for the SLOG 2? Regarding the Luts offers you or would you have a link to advise me?
Lenin Lopez not currently doing any of my own luts or presets, but in terms of slog2 settings everything is kept to how it is out of the box and just use the pre-done profile which is Picture Profile 7
Thanks, I liked this. Totally unrelated question: I see you shot with a Sony, as do I. You've never had a problem with lasers burning the sensor at these events?
Glad you enjoy it! I actually had my old mark I burn out from a laser hit. I now refuse to film if lasers are on. So Just film around them. Unless its a production team i've worked with in the past and i know what level they are etc
Pharel Pierre hey man! I try to make all my shots natural so don’t use any external lighting, if in extreme cases I would use a simple battery operated led panel (like the typical hot shoe ones) and hold it on my left hand so it’s off to the side and can be moved about as needs be
What pointers can u give for lighting we need to film cocktails but the club lights are to dark and people normally don’t want a bright light in their face
angela Jasmiine hey, use a camera that can shoot well in low light like the Sony a7s mark2, use a low aperture lens and high iso. If not use a panel light or soft ring light. If using a panel light you could hold this in your arm and off to the side so it doesn’t dazzle people
I filmed my event yesterday... really had a hard job keeping things in focus... still i am using the 180 shutter rule, i use MF and AF on the a7iii .. but still not crispy clear ;( do you have any tips for gocus settings or focus zones (zone, middle, flex point)
Focus is all going to come down to your f stop, not your shutter speed. See if your camera has focus peak that always super helps. AF is so advanced now I’d even say rock that if your camera can do it quick enough. This will enable you to focus more on the shot
Hi ! Im new in nightlife videographer ! Just wondering about the music ! Should I pick from random source Remix or pick from a license website and subscribe to use the song ? Any idea please help !
Hey! Personally, I still use normal artists' tracks. I often test them before putting them on a client's video to lower the risk of it being pulled down. Using remixes and bootlegs is a great way to get around it to. Most labels have done deals with social networks to allow music on videos. Where it used to be a common issue it's now not as. Pick the track you want by the artist you want and just test it on a random youtube / fb page before putting it on the client's work. All the stuff on music sites will never be as good as mainstream tracks due to audience retention.
I currently use a Canon 80d with the sigma 18-35 but im upgrading to the A7S2 ii SOON. sHOULD I GET THE SAME LENS BUT WITH A SONY MOUNT OR GET AN ADAPTER (Sorry about the caps) lol
I can take pictures no problems since I’ve had experience, but I’m thinking of getting a light {amzn.to/31HJVV7 }so my subjects aren’t so dark and my videos won’t be noisy.
Me personally I try not to film when the lasers are on. Most shows I work on now are the same production team and they have safety zones set so they won;t hit anywhere in the crowd so they are good to film. Lasers look shit on camera anyway i think
I shoot everything 50fps, sometimes 100fps for super slow mo and run it all in a 25fps timeline sequence. Which means if I want to slow it down I can and gives me the freedom of having slow motion on everything
Reef Shaw Productions I do? The clips I showed in the tutorial are ungraded to show what SLOG2 is like. Which is why it’s annotated in the bottom corner. If you check the bits athe beginning you will see that is colour graded
You can easily connect it, it’s the same principles. Just make sure you have good coverage of different types of shots and always have movement. Try add story to it, there’s lots you can take from it you just need to break it down

Is it dangerous for the camera sensor to shoot in such light and laser conditions? Have you ever had any issues with that?
whats good bro, what type of gear do you tend to use? do you ever use an portable LED light while filming?
Pharel Pierre hey man! I try to make all my shots natural so don’t use any external lighting, if in extreme cases I would use a simple battery operated led panel (like the typical hot shoe ones) and hold it on my left hand so it’s off to the side and can be moved about as needs be
yo! May i know what white balance did you use if you dont mind?
Off the top of my head it was 4800. I find that to be a nice middle ground where its not too warm or not too cold
only 6 dislikes hahahaha
masterpiece!!!
Hey, what about your music, witch music do you use, and from where?
Do you have a good example of all your tips in one video you've produced? Or a good example finished video?
jgrannis sure! Best bet is to head to my Instagram as I post all my work there along with timeline split screens instagram.com/evpro_
hey what about white balance?

I currently use a Canon 80d with the sigma 18-35 but im upgrading to the A7S2 ii SOON. sHOULD I GET THE SAME LENS BUT WITH A SONY MOUNT OR GET AN ADAPTER (Sorry about the caps) lol
Erm i use the 18-35 all the time and have it in canon mount. I just use an adapter tbh
@@evpro_ Well your videos look sick as fuck so I'll do the same lol Big up man
I can take pictures no problems since I’ve had experience, but I’m thinking of getting a light {amzn.to/31HJVV7 }so my subjects aren’t so dark and my videos won’t be noisy.
Thats good idea or you can get a fast lens (lower fstop) and shoot at around 2.8
1st!
Ayeeee! Thanks man
do you use lighting when making video?
Nope very very rarely unless it’s complete darkness
@@evpro_ what lens should i play with 11-22mm 24-45 kit or 40mm 2.8 prime for club video........
@@johnnyphoto6907 All of them, find what works best for you
@@evpro_ it seems like there are alot of shallow depth of field vids out now
is that for effect or because low light
What size lens do usually use for club shoots
Use a mixture of lenses. 18-35, 50, 70-200 and 15mm fisheye mainly
what about laser vs camera sensor ? :)

@@evpro_ thanks :) btw i love your channel so much positive energy and knowledge
what lens would you recommend.
All depends on your budget tbh. I shot with a nifty 50 for years before I upgraded
anyone know how to nail that whitebalans in a nightclub environment?
Do you shout in 60fps or 24 or both?
I shoot everything 50fps, sometimes 100fps for super slow mo and run it all in a 25fps timeline sequence. Which means if I want to slow it down I can and gives me the freedom of having slow motion on everything
What frame rate are these types of videos shot at?
50 or 100fps and edited in a 25fps timeline
why don't you color grade your footage?
Reef Shaw Productions I do? The clips I showed in the tutorial are ungraded to show what SLOG2 is like. Which is why it’s annotated in the bottom corner. If you check the bits athe beginning you will see that is colour graded
can i ask what white balance settings you tend to use in darker clubs with lights?
I used to use a mixture of 4300 or 5500, but now I keep most of it on Auto as im changing scenarios a lot. But normally around 5000k
@@evpro_ legend, thanks mate
