I believe the biggest issue with these adapters is STABILITY. I had the Carlinkit 4.0 and it gave me 20 second delay several times in just a few days usage, could have been from heat or the fact that I was using it with Waze. To fix the delay, I had to plug it out and plug it back in again, but at that point I decided to return it, since it's just easier to plug the phone directly. It would be nice to compare all these adapters and do a stability test on them: try it with different maps, connect to it multiple times, try connecting with locked screen, use it for a few hours with navigation and see if it has the delay issue everyone is complaining about. I don't mind a 20 second boot time over a 10 second one, if I know that it just works out of the box without the need of restarting it several times a day. Car Audi A5 2018 Phone iPhone 13 pro
Have you tested the Ottocast U2Air Pro? If so, how does it compare to the Carlinkit 5.0? (navigation lag, song switching lag, audio quality, disconnection issues)
I have yet to find a single wireless adapter for CarPlay that works smoothly after a couple of weeks. Both the Dreyerit and Carlinkit were so bad I returned them both. As good as the tech is today, I am still searching for that one unit that actually works and is reliable.
Would appreciate if you could kindly clarify, what is the difference between this and the other Carlinkit T-Box ie T-Mox Mini, Ultra and other since this 5.0 also plays youtube just like others. Thanks
Does two finger pinch-to-zoom work in android auto? It seems that android auto is not converted to apple carplay protocol, as the previous version of this device did?
Could you please test the scenario of using two different phones, Android and iPhone with auto-connect disabled? In such case, does the device connect to the car first and display the menu with phones' list? Carlinkit 4.0 always uses CP for car connection, so this probably isn't an issue (wired CP to wireless AA bridge). But 5.0 got native AA - which protocol is used to display the menu, and are you able to select the different phone type?
I just bought it. A lot of lag with Waze and it loses connection with the car system with some frequency, I have to disconnect the cable from the car to reconnect the Carlinkit (Android Auto)
I just got mine and it seems to be faulty... I will return it, but I wonder if I want to order another one after I get my refund... what if I get faulty unit again... seems like the quality control is not on priority there...
There is going to be a battery drain anytime you use a wireless connection through CarPlay or Android Auto because of the constant data exchange, that would be the same as if your car would natively support a wireless connection. This can be left connected to the car because it's not energized when car is off.
Hi. I am still checking but it seems that if I sit in the car with iPhone connected and the my wife comes with her Android - the iPhone gets kicked out. If both phones are in the car - Android connects quicker (doesn’t matter which phone was used last). But like I said - still testing.
Thanks for a great review. . Thanks for taking the time and I understand the effort that goes into the production, so thank you. I have a little question though. My CAR has wired Android Auto - but As many of us, I share the Car with the wife. she uses an Apple device while I use an Android device - my question is -- once this device is setup ... will it connect to her phone (Bluetooth) when she uses the car and visa-versa when I use the car ?
Hi, thank you for asking, this is the way it works: if both devices, wife’s and yours were previously paired with this unit then it will prioritize the last device that was connected to - this is if it happens for both of you to be in car at the same time. If only one of you in the car then it will automatically pair to whoever is in the car.
@@iSimplifiedTech thanks , but just to be clear .. it will connect to wife's phone and display Carplay and with me it will display AAuto - without having to messing with settings again ? so it is converting CP to Android Auto for the wife (remember car has wired Android Auto )
You need to do a driving test also. I have an AA wireless adapter. Works great. But disconnects while driving. I know one spot is by a microwave tower. With straight Bluetooth listening to music, my phone never disconnects. But with the adapter, it disconnects randomly. To me, a driving test would convince me. Please do a driving test.
@@belverde1 map in waze gets delayed and needs to be plugged out and in again... not sure if there is any dongle atm that can handle waze on longer drives without delays
It is certainly better than couple of the other brands I have tried, but it is not perfect by any means. Load time varies from 12 sec. to the full minute and it hangs once in a while. I use it with 2023 Ford vehicle with Synk3.
@iSimplifiedTech, So is this (Carlinkit 5.0) is the best option for Android auto? My Preference: - need only for Android, - need it to be fastest possible data transmission (no lag on music and navigation), - I don't mind longer booting up time (as long no lag later). Would you recommend any other adapter for Android???

Is anyone having trouble being able to make phone calls? I highly recommend the quality of the Carlinkit 5.0 CPC200-2air! But what a pity if it can't make phone calls normally?

Do you have to confirm on screen 😮everytime you start the engine?

Is the android latency problem solved? I’m using the 4.0 version. The latency on android is almost unusable compared to ios
To me seems more responsive than 4.0. But also check the audio delay settings as well as I showed in the video.

Interesting, never seen that issue. You might want to contact Carlinkit support.
Can I watch UA-cam with just buying this unit ?
No, this won’t add UA-cam on the screen, check out the video description for links on how to add UA-cam.

Originally supported.

Yes.

Usually Wireless Apple CarPlay will drain the battery- it’s not specifically Carlinkit but any car that has Wireless CarPlay will drain it the same.
