    Mad respect for going down there that takes balls

    That blue brick has always been so beautiful. I can't understand how they allowed the building to be destroyed like this.
    I believe there was a map of the United States / mural that hung in the restaurant in the late '80s or early '90s. The restaurant was remodeled and the map was donated to St Brendan's elementary School. Somebody (principal possibly) decided the map was boring and had a shitty artist friend (lesbian girlfriend?) add some stuff to it. For a time it hung in the gymnasium. If it's still there or what's happened since 2000, I simply don't know.

      I agree. Seeing places like this go to ruin is sad. Thanks for sharing this info though, I would've never guessed there was a mural in the restaurant.

    Oh man, this is one of the worst anchor stores I've ever seen... And that freight elevator. Not only is it rare, but mushrooms growing in it? Good lord

    Man I was scared enough when my workplace flooded and I helped in the cleanup, and the worst we had we an inch of water across the whole building, though the stock room was around the same level as here at the worst of it. Honestly I can’t believe that electrical equipment is still on

      @@wyster14 I couldn't believe it either. I wonder what the equipment was even powering. It makes exploring very dangerous.

      @@Left_Behind0 tbh I don’t think anything was powered as much as that electricity just hadn’t been cut for some reason. It really should have been cut, but ig the power company couldn’t be bothered. If it was backup generators, there would have been additional noise, so it was definitely just left on.
      Tbh I don’t know what they’re expecting to happen bc it will get someone killed, like that contractor at Northridge. Even at Heartland I treat it very carefully because everything is so old, even if we’ve long gotten everything dried and fixed from the flood.

      @@wyster14 my guess is that the power company doesn't know that the area is flooded. I agree though, they should turn it off before a contractor or another explorer gets themselves electrocuted. I wore leather rain boots when I explored.

      @@Left_Behind0 tbh that was a smart idea, but those high voltage systems would probably fry the next person to go down there regardless. It’s the scary part of it, once it gets high enough it really doesn’t matter what insulation you have on you because it will arc right through it. I suppose though that the electric company is either unaware, or they will become aware when that electric meter starts doing crazy numbers

    How did this get flooded? Looks like this store never updated so I liked seeing the old fashioned look.

    • @Left_Behind0
      @Left_Behind0  8 днів тому

      @@SpokaneGirl85 it sits partly under the water table. There is a pump room, but when that stopped working, the area flooded.

    Dang this is in bad shape! I would’ve explored the bottom level if I had boots on.

      Definitely is! Most of the ceiling tiles gone, some shelving starting to collapse, and black mold everywhere, particularly inside of the old bank.

    Who owns that mess?

    • @Left_Behind0
      @Left_Behind0  20 днів тому

      Eastland Holding LLC. They're shady owners similar to Black Spruce with Northridge mall. The city of Columbus is trying to seize the mall from the owners though to demo it.

    One of the riskiest abandoned mall videos ever posted. The amount of safety and health hazards in a flooded area like this really makes this a bad precedent to set in the community.
    For anyone that disagrees, you most likely have never been an emergency responder, water rescue team member or experienced the structural and health hazards found in flood or standing water environments, so don’t bother telling me I’m wrong.
    Just like when people in this dead mall community keep saying “active operating malls are public spaces” as they get booted out by the cops and trespassed.
    I definitely like seeing the video, but people chasing clicks like this is going to lead to some bad things.

    • @slackingpacking
      @slackingpacking Місяць тому +5

      In the video he mentioned to do not go down into the flooded area as it’s very dangerous. I believe the city of Columbus has or is trying to take ownership of the mall so they can demolish it. I have no desire coming back to this mall. I’ve seen a recent video where the mall interior has since been cleaned up and looks like demolition is coming very shortly. We understand us explorers ( at least for me and left behind) are taking a risk when we explore these abandoned buildings. We are not clout chasers by any means. We explore just to admire and photograph stuff we once had.

    How does the building inspector allow this? Is he the star of Parks and Recreation?

    • @ReallifeBambiDeerattheFarm1
      @ReallifeBambiDeerattheFarm1 Місяць тому +1

      @Vean-ql2yq They may just drive by the building saying it hasn't fallen in yet, so it's ok.

    • @charlestonpinballarcade
      @charlestonpinballarcade Місяць тому +4

      The owners of the mall are getting fined on a daily basis. The building inspector has no power to magically make a crew show up. The city has to go through many legal hurdles to make the owners act or take the mall from them. This is not just a snap of fingers, this a long and lengthy legal process.
