I have a CX-30 and I have the drivers and passengers windows tinted and a strip across the top of the windshield. I have found that if you close the rear vents it helps cool the front. Also, if it sits for an extended period of time (like while I am at work) I put a sun shade in the windshield and that makes a HUGE difference.

It's super hot and humid here in Florida right now and the A/C in my '21 CX30 Premium works fine. I just use AUTO until the interior cools down then reduce the fan speed as required.

Thank you for the test James. One thing I need to mention is that when a car is set in parking under the sun and the air-conditioning is on can be less strong than when the car drive. You should test when the car driving also. In that case, you get a better understanding the coolant system. I believe if the car drive when air conditioning is on it will be very fast to cool and most efficient. Also, no one set in car when it is hot and turns on AC and stays in the car for 30 min with no drive. It is not ideal

I’m so glad someone posted the link to your video in a response on Reddit. My daily driver is a 2020 Mazda CX30 premium and I’ve been experiencing ac issues since taking possession. I live in Ca and my first red flag was when the ac was on and I would accelerate, the ac system would start blowing warm air. Now I know from being a experienced mechanics son that some cars in the early 2000s would do this in order to send power to the engine. Most car manufacturers eliminated this design. So eventually I found time and took it to my dealer to see what they can do and the service advisor called me stating they were able to replicate warm air out of the ac vents and unfortunately that was the design of the Mazda cx30. A few months later I received my first recall notice and took it in for it and mentioned the ac issue again and was surprisingly told that Mazda had a software fix so that it would stop blowing warm air out of the ac vents every time I’d accelerate. It was like I was given a brand new car. Then in April I noticed that I was never feeling cold in my car. My other cars are a brand new Mercedes Benz E450 convertible and a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero so I got my digital and manual thermometer out and put it in other cars and the Benz was blowing 34 degrees out of the vents while I was parked and it was 105 outside and my 20 year old Montero was blowing 37 degrees in its parked position. I put both of my thermometers in my Mazda CX30s front ac vents and it went from 130 degrees interior cabin to 60-65 degrees coming out the vents. So I left my thermometers in the vents for about 3 weeks and no matter the exterior temperature, whether I am parked or driving the temp coming out of my vents on the lowest temp control and highest to second fastest fan speeds would also only blow 60-61 degrees. I’m definitely disappointed. My sister has a 2019 Mazda CX-5 and her ac is awesome, always blowing close to 40 degrees. I’ve never been like “ok my hands are freezing, let me lower the fan speed or raise the cabin temp” in my cx30. I love my cx30 a lot, it’s super comfortable..almost like Lexus comfy, it’s agile and has great get up and go for a non turbo model.

rrange, Thank you for sharing all this! The test you did is a great way to confirm whether the A/C really is more "ice cold" in other cars than the CX-30.
Since mine is a 2021 model, I believe they changed the software so that I don't have that issue of the A/C turning off when accelerating--thank goodness.
I'm surprised Mazda put a stronger A/C system in the CX-5 but appear to have cheaped out for the CX-30! Anyway, great information to know.
P.S., my brother-in-law has a 2019 E450 coupe, and I absolutely love the way it drives and rides. I hear the new E class is even better. You have some great cars my friend.

Interesting; that kind of a/c performance overrules dark colors for me since dark colors absorb more heat. Then again light colors make the huge side cladding way too visible! I do not think ANY air conditioner lowers the temperature more than 30 F the ambient temperature. In a 90 degree day you can expect the air coming out of the vents to be at or around 60. I am impressed that the engine did not overheat since mazda only uses one fan for ac and engine cooling. Good experiment though most people would not be sitting idling in a parking lot.

I live in Phoenix, AZ. For my last 3 vehicles (including my 2022 CX-30 CE) I have had specialty, heat-rejection Spectra PhotoSync IRD film installed on all windows, including front windshield (tint grade 70% windshield & 30% all other glass, including sunroof). That type of film is better than any ceramic film/tint for heat rejection, UV blockage, etc. So, even at the higher temps of 115+ out here, I can run my A/C at the lower 2 or 3 blower settings & it cools fine with minimal effort since very little heat is making it through the glass (unlike with non-tinted or regular tinted windows that most have). Works great. Not all window fims/tints are created equal - not even close. If you are driving around with regular mediocre-grade (cheap) dealership ceramic tinted windows then you have some pretty poor quality film for heat rejection & you can still really feel the heat coming through the glass on intense days under direct sunlight.

It doesn’t hurt every once in awhile. Police cars are at idle constantly. It’s okay to sleep in a car and let it run also. Scottie is not correct about everything.

geez, all you do is complain about this car. If it's this disappointing to you just get rid of it. I don't mind a single video about pros and cons or even follow up videos months or years later but it seems you like to make video after video of how disappointed you are with the car. If you don't like it just make one video of you trading it in and why.

What Idiot cools the car down and by idling for an hour, all cars cool a lot quicker if you drive them.

Hi Rod, I’m aware that driving cools down a car. This was intended to be a stress test, like sitting in stop and go traffic on a very hot day.
