Gold! I love the contrast from the intentionally goofy comedy parts right into some really smooth melodic and complex bits that really show off your skills. Real performance gold. The only kind of a performance from a musician who decided to "play all the instruments" and showing how far you can go instead of professionalizing in just one could give you.
Thanks a lot! I like to interact with the instruments and follow their lead, as you say, I'm not specialized so I'm not totally in command, but that's what I want to share!
Nicolas, you NEED a tour calendar of some sort! I would love to see you perform on stage, but I had no idea you were coming here. Epic performance, by the way! 🙂
@@NicolasBras If you need help with that, I'd be happy to be of assistance. Your videos have helped me a lot in my projects, so it would only be fair. But I think the easiest route would be to use a service like Squarespace, because they already have ready-to-use templates for musicians. Including specialized features a tour calendar. ;-)
Genie mit humorvollem Erfindergeist und Musik im Blut. Einzigartig und erfrischend anders. Herrlich unterhaltsam. Deine originelle Schaffenskraft ist eine wahre Freude und eine Bereicherung für die Menschheit. Top!! 👍🎶👏🎈🏆
Yeees, thank you for this behind the scenes video. I was there in Düsseldorf and really blown away by your creativity and that incredible sound! You've got a new fan here. ...if - by chance - you don't need the flute you used at 12:55 anymore, I would be glad to take it!
Awsome. Watching this while i am sick, and i just spontanously started to sing. Dude you enter the room of music with a magical mindset of exploration. Thanks.
Was this concert recorded? I would love to hear the whole thing and also to have your song to listen to by itself. PLEASE tour and come to the US, I want very much to be around these instruments in real life and feel how they charge the air of a place.
There is a full captation, but I don't think the will be an official release. I would love to tour in the US, I don't have the opportunity for now, maybe soon!
Bravo Nicolas. Quel talent . Dans cette salle de concert, c'est une consécration pour ton art. Continue de nous montrer ainsi une voie différente de la musique. Bravo pour cette prestation et toute en œuvre en général
Giver to all...you are. And you are so talented and such a fantastic educator. Love your videos.Hey someone is filming editing and producing these videos...they are great also
Dussledorf musician: 'I forgot my instrument!' Nicolas: 'Well I only have some duct tape, a box, and a coconut. I can probably only make a complete alto saxophone or a 5 string banjo......
So cool! I just discovered your channel and I love it. I have a bit of a PVC pipe that I use to scratch my back (hehe) and I often play it like a birch trumpet or vuvuzela. I've been fantasising about building a huge horn from PVC pipes.
Such a fun video! I think maybe you could add 1, 2 or even 3 other people playing with you on the same huge instrument, maybe even extend the size and capabilities of it to cater for the many? I think it would be soooo fun for both you AND the audience!
Dude! This is so awesome. I just stumbled upon your channel and have started watching all your videos and sharing them to my musically inclined friends. I am inspired by how you create an instrument out of household and hardware store components. I made a fretless cigar box guitar a number of years ago that I gave away to a friend for a Christmas present. I definitely have to try making some of your instruments, they look so fun to play! I might start with the membrane clarinet, though I have never played one before. You should try making an instrument using glass as the inspiration like how you can make it sing with a wet finger on the rim. Thank you for the awesome videos.
I love it. But the Melodica uses equal temperament. And for drones, Just intonation sounds so much better. Simple ratios work best when you don't need to sound good in every key. That overtone flute is the clear winner though. That just washes you over with harmonic color. This is a treat.
@@Cemballo because they're metal-reed instruments they tend to be tuned decently well. But you can hear that fifth was detuned compared to proper drones, because of the beat. It's still a clever hack when under a time crunch. And the balloon worked wonderfully as a visual element.
@@NicolasBras Oh good point. 1 balloon wouldn't give enough pressure without squeezing it, and that might pop it. You could get more pressure by adding multiple balloons ("in parallel"). And if that makes it too tricky to pump, that could be fixed by playing tricks with things like tube diameters. But, again, the trick with time-crunches is choosing where to sacrifice, and you did wonderfully in this respect
wow such a marvelous and entertaining improvised performance! you're a Great Artist! 🙂 also i recognised those piano and violin guys, saw them years ago in a tv show, they're very funny!
You're that type of guy who remember everyone they used to be a child, such a joyful performance !
Thanks! I like to discover new instruments like new toys, just exploring the possibilities!
Absolutely the most ridiculous and complex instrument you've ever built and I Iove it
I made so much worse, but I wasn't filming at the time!

P. D.Q. Bach lol.
It's like a living creature! One wouldn't be shocked if it started shambling around on its own.
I call those installations "Parasites Sonores", "Sound Parasites", I like to build those like an organic chaotic structure
@@NicolasBras I also like the fact that it is not only a music instruments complex, but also a really nice contemporary sculpture.

fun fact the name didgeridoo is the word for music in the part of australia that it comes from, the proper name for one is yidaki
I had forgotten about that comedy duo, they are so great
You have such an air of confidence walking out onto stage as yourself.
Being myself is the only thing I can do!

You really improvised this entire thing?? BRO YOUR GREAT

Not sure the melodica was in (equal temperament) tune
