Great to see you back, always loved your input on the Nightwish reactions. Wish you lots of success as a front singer. Subscribed to follow your solo reactions. Btw the second single of Nightwish’s album is also released, it’s called The day of.. and awesome as well.
Loved your reactions with your old bandmates, but really cool to see you back with these in-depth reactions on your own too! Best of luck with your new project. Nightwish has a new video for "The Day of" coming out on Tuesday (audio version is already out), so hope you find the time to dig into that one too.
This was a great reaction man! I have seen a million reaction videos of people that just look amazed by the music and those are great. But now I really like the ones where you break them down a bit and get into the nitty gritty. Hope you do some more Nightwish in the future. Subscribed!
The underwater shots on this video are taken from a video called One Breath Around The World by Guillaume Nery and his wife Julie Gautier. The are freedivers and evidently he can hold his breath for 7 or 8 minutes at a time. You can find their video on UA-cam. Remarkable. Evidently Nightwish has won the Best Music Video award at the Mother's Day Film Festival in London for this song.
Love the depth. No one needs more 'ok k let's play the song k thx bye' channels. This adds value. I know the song already, I wanna know what people who do this professionally can say about it technically, because it's interesting.
Thank you for your reaction and all this detailed interesting things you notice as composer and artist. Keep up the good work and good luck with your new band 👍
Great having you back doing reactions! 👏🏻 I would love to see you react to some of the songs from Human Nature. For example Noise, Shoemaker, How’s The Heart and Pan. 😍
as someone who is currently struggling to learn music theory on his own, I certainly appreciate whenever you talk about the key and scales in the analysis so that I can research what it all means lol
New Sub here and 20 years in the Nightwish Army Wisconsin USA chapter . Appreciated your comments over the last few years , now you're solo so congrats and Best wishes on your new endeavors with lead with new band . Keep up the good work Anthony . Btw great reaction/breakdown .
this is funny, I remember you reacting to things with another band few years ago, love your opinion. Wonderful how the theme of four, five of six notes recurs all the time, in vocals and in the accompanying music
Glad to see you back reacting/analyzing. From the first video I ever saw of you was super impressed with your musical knowledge and theory skills. I’m glad you discussed the bass prominence..one of the first things I noticed in this song. Loved hearing about the vocal mix in this manner. I did find it funny you mentioned your Neanderthal brain seeing how this discusses the transmission of genetic material in a step by step way all the way back to Neanderthal age and beyond. I wondered if Tuomas put in the chromatic stuff to reinforce that from a musical standpoint?? Who knows other that him I guess. Anyway..glad you’re back. Subscribed as always 🤘. If you get a chance do my favorite Nightwish song “7 Days to the Wolves” live from Wembley. PS: Couldn’t really play my SC drinking game with a video with just you. Will have to come up with a new one of just your stuff 😂
@@Anthony_Corso yep. It was me. I guess I can always use Myxolidian or Phrygian to start 😂. Seriously, I enjoy learning about the theory aspects of my favorite songs/bands. I’ll keep an eye out for your both of your bands over here on the other side of the country
1st time seeing your videos, enjoyed it, subscribed, liked... I've been a Nightwish Fan for years, mostly because I'm older and got bored with the 70's and 80's. Discovered the band by accident while randomly downloading metal music, probably about 2003 or 4, right between Tarja's dismissal and right before Anette Olzen appeared replacing Tarja on the release of Dark Passion Play. That was really a great album, in my opinion, one of their best to date. Though many of the releases contain several great songs Dark Passion Play is absolutely binding from start to finish... All three lead vocalists for Nightwish, individually, with the band, Tarja Turunen, Anette Olzen, and now Floor Jenson have really left their mark on female fronted metal, coupled with the talented add-ons of other members. The music never gets old because it is always morphing.
I've seen a dissection of this song before, but ur's was fun too :D I was actually bothered by the vocal mix in the youtube vid. I later heard some ppl telling there's nothing wrong with the song's mix, so I then found out the the song has a better vocal mix on Spotify!! Dunno why the difference. But I no longer remember if there were other differences in the mix...
Hi Anthony big fan of yours since SC and your new subscriber today I left a suggestion for you in your in your left on mars for Wintersun time live rehearsal at Sonic pump studio in Helsinki Finland. Thank you Wintersun Alex in Texas ❄️🤘
Congratulations on the new band. I'll check them out. I'm so glad Nightwish is back with a new album. Your analysis was great. Keep it up! For some other new music to listen to, there are several new solo projects that I think you will enjoy. Arjen from Ayreon worked with Simone Simons of Epica on a new album. I'd love to hear your analysis of the song R.E.D. He also worked with Dianne van Giresbergen, formerly of Xandria on her solo work. Dianne is a true spinto soprano, that I know you will love analyzing. Listen to her song The Symphonic Tragedy. And Melissa Bonny, of Ad Infinitum also just released some great music. It's a great time for new music!
You cut down your sarcastic commentary, you do not need it; we love you, you need not to be insecure : ) Because you are fine as you are...and your musicality is awesome - Keep going: yes, I clicked the magical bell : )
Great reaction and breakdown Anthony. What has happened to Suite Clarity? Miss you're funny reactions! The male singer in the end (an probably the only male voice in the future of Nightwish) is Troy Donockley. Maybe they will surprise us with the new album if we get to hear Jukka Koskinen sing. He sang background vocals in Wintersun.
I'd love to hear your technical thoughts on NW's Dead Boy's Poem, live from Buenos Aires. Was always waiting for SC to get to that one, but you guys never made it. this format with you, alone, doing a more in depth analysis would be awesome! there are a ton of reaction channels out there, but only a small handful with reactors that actually understand music theory. (PS- there was a lot of noise when this was released as to why the vocal mix was sooooooo low. I love Tuomas and this met with his approval, but, come on... you've got FJ in your band... you don't bury her down in the mix, lol.)
Thank you this one (and your friends) your Nightwish reactions you did before ... . Check out "Nightwish-Yesterwynde (Making of Documentary part 4)" by youself. It tell about this video. It is only few minutes long. Greetings from Finland.
For your beanie bag of justice for all. "Once upon a Nightmare" from Epica Alive (covid performance streamed). I don't know if there is a better metal ballad out there
Hey Anthony, nice to see you back again. What happened with your reactions with Suite Clarity, I enjoyed watching you three goofing off and reacting. I miss Pioneer Pete (lol)
Interesting to watch your review. Greetings from Canada. New sub, I did recognise you from ypur prior band group reactions. I think in this song, Nightwish really let the Orchestra dominate in the mix, and the Bass was really strong in some parts. I am glad you appreciated how Floor was placed in the chorus mix. There has been some controversy about that with some wanting to hear Floor more. At the end, along with the deep piano chords, I think there are some deep strings (orchestra double bass?)as well
Great reaction . . . not many people take the time to dig into the compositions like you did here. This is definitely going to be a go-to reaction/analysis channel, if you want it to be. Lyrics are online on the usual sites - they are indeed poetry. More or less about our mortality - hence the band members becoming ghosts, their bodies dissolving back into the natural world - but also about our role in the continuity of the species. We all, eventually, end up as ancestors, a barely present "perfume" in the world inhabited by our descendants. Note that the band just dropped another music video, "The Day of". The lyrics and the video are . . . um . . . _different._ You'll find a lot to talk about; I think you should try reading the lyrics in advance.
Greetings from Helsinki, Finland. You are guitarist but now lead vocalist. So listen to Wintersun, Megadeth, Gamma Ray, Tommy Johansson etc. Many real good guitarists and same time very great vocalists. It is very hard but when you find best way to sing then it's may be a very good feeling. That song what you sing souds like Rainbow at power metal, so you must sing also very high. Well, Tommy Johansson is perfect teacher for that right now. Keep practicing and find your own style. 🤘
Hey man, excellent reaction and better analysis, i liked you from your time with suite clarity, only thing i don't agree completely is the use of Floor's voice so hidden in the back of the choir, it's like that on purpose and ok, but i think they don't take advantage of that asset as they should, hope to see more of your reactions! already subscribed, keep rocking and stay safe,,,,
The return of Antony (but I liked the other members as much) with a great reaction! Did you know that in 2 days the clip will be released of their latest song " Days of..."? I have seen the leaked Helsinki presentation and I can say it is uhh different, the beginning reminding me of Rammstein, and very trippy....
Oh man, I see You for the 1st time since I saw You with the bunch of your friends when You were drawing bands from the benie of justice lol xD thats why I even found You, coz of Night fish xD
Song is the first single from the upcoming 10th album, Yesterwynde, and 1st recorded with Jukka Koskinen on bass. Album is the 3rd in a trilogy of albums, continuing the themes of life, science, nature, evolution, etc. Floor's vocals lower in the mix was intentional to make her part of the chorus, the chorus of ancestors. Some fans hate it, some are ok with it. I thought , on first listen , that it was hard to hear her, but after learning the lyrics, it has become a non-issue, I can hear her just fine. Yesterwynde is a made up word. They didn't know what to call the album, how to express what they wanted, so Troy made it up. the 2nd single, "The Day Of...", is out, with the music video releasing Tuesday(Aug 13). 3rd single will be "Lanternlight", music video releasing ,with the full album, on Sep 20. Nightwish has said they won't tour this album, taking a break, rumor says 2026 before they hit the road again. Tuomas has a 3rd Auri album, and tour, scheduled through the end of next year. What should you react to? Lots of new music released recently, here's some that have come out in the last couple weeks: "G.O.D". by Nemophila. 1st release as a 4 piece, Saki left earlier this year. "Someone's Daughter" by Jinjer "Show Them" by Band Maid with The Warning. "Dream Stealer" by Arch Enemy
Hey, great fun yet informative reaction and analysis. There has been a lot of debate on the vocal mix. It was a stylistic choice because Floor is singing as one of the many ghosts of your ancestors. After many listens I don't mind it but I think most people (and possibly Floor herself based on her comments) would have preferred it otherwise. Cheers.
@@DeepeningTheListening actually she didn't. There was a comment in a livestream about PoTT not being amongst her favourites on the album but that may have been more the vocal style than the mix.
Thanks for your great reaction to this masterpiece. Here's some probability calculations: Step 1. Probability of a boy meeting a girl to have a romantic relationship with: one in 20,000. Step 2. Probability of that same boy knocking up that same girl: one in 2000. Step 3. Probability of right sperm meeting right egg: one in 400 quadrillion. Step 4. Now lets assume that you have just those 12 generations of ancestors mentioned in the intro to this song. For the probability of every one of those 12 generations of your ancestors having reproduced successfully with right sperm having met the right egg is (20k x 2k x 400 quadrillion) to the 12th power. Going backwards in time with even more generations of your ancestors, we soon reach a probability of 1 divided by the number of atoms in the entire universe. This makes each one of us a unique miracle. P.S. Most, if not all, of the free diving sections are taken from Guillaume Néry's short film "One Breath Around The World", which you can watch on his YT channel. His thongs are in fact extra weight to adjust his buoyancy.
Please please react to Ado - unravel The studio version VS the live version She is considered one of the best japanese singer nowadays. The most versatile singer and the best acting singer i have ever seen. Looking forward to it. Thanks
About the stage thing, I'd suggest take a page out of Floor's book. Rather than try to come up with a stage persona, let the lyrics and the mood of the song guide you. Contrast Floor's stage presence in "Sleeping Sun" ua-cam.com/video/pVPTUEW1PEM/v-deo.html with "Planet Hell" ua-cam.com/video/zGAwT6w7vYs/v-deo.html. The thing to note with "Planet Hell" is the the song was written as a duet between Marko and Tarja, so Floor has to sing both parts. Bottom line, be yourself and let the music guide you.
The current bass player Jukka Koskinen's former main band was Wintersun, just like the drummer Kai Hahto's. Wintersun is by no means defunct, and having two members at times tied up with Nightwish stuff is no worse than having just one.
Suite Clarity or something? was your original band channel? A lot of partially funny input was shared back then :) I wish you a lot of luck to find a desperate well known band in need of your skills like Floor did with 68. I leave the joke aside with "she was actually 66" but she was 30+ when Wacken 2013 happened plus few more years when internet was interested. All the best blah. Thumbs up.
Everybody who has listen to this song says that (1) Floors vocals are too low in the mix and (2) it's missing Emppu's guitar solo. I suppose both were intentional decisions but I failing to understand why.
1) Bad move comparing yourself to Bruce Dickenson, it can only lead to depression, haha. 2) There was once a little sausage named Baldric. The end. c) Jump for hatred, Jump for joy, jump for a lady, sultry and coy. Stand for reason, stand for thought, stand for these condoms, I only just bought.
@@Anthony_Corso Oh, while your here, here is a track, its all music, no words, with the story told in the video. Violins versus Guitars /watch?v=jvipPYFebWc
Asking UA-cam for feedback. Living on the edge... But since you asked: I personally really enjoy the musical theory moments (like Kardavox, Daily Doug, Beth Roars, Nina Schofield) Also you take your time to show your personality, put in some fun and of course you also need to put in some shameless self promotion (yes, that is perfectly fine). But together that is a lot! I think to get to a huge number of subs you will need to cut back on some of it. Find a niche instead of trying to appeal to everyone. Either be the rambling witty guy or the knowledgeable guy, but not both. Just my two cents. It's your channel. You need to do what works for you.
21:35 wow that guy is shit at bass 😜 (actually I quite respect you as a musician… but I also gotta give you shit lol) Your analyses are pretty informative and for a band like Nightwish especially I think it’s quite handy for all the theory nerds out there 😁. I remember hearing complaints about the mixing but I waited to hear the song until you reacted to it and I have no complaints. Everything this band does is intentional so I figured there had to be some logic behind it and you explained that well too. You’re doing well, keep being yourself and consistent then your solo channel will grow!
Yes, and if not, you should bear in mind that Nightwish has already made room for a second support. Especially for an aspiring local Power Metal band. And even if it would only be for one or two of their shows somewhat "close" to the Seattle region. P.S. I wish we hadn't to wait until 2026 for a new Nightwish tour.
Forgive me for being an old fart when I say this but what you're doing now works so much better than what you did with your bandmates before, it was at times bit too unfocused and all over the place with you three chatting :) Edit. Speaking of reaction videos, music you guys did was good
Hard core nightwish fans need to chill 😂 they can't take it when the band miss on something, the video and lyrics are amazing but the mixing is strange.
I'm glad to see you again reacting to Nightwish music, this time alone. Of course, you have a new subscriber here. I hope you will continue.

Gooood analysis! Must subscribe.
The official video will be released this week on their YT channel
What happened to your previous band with that Awesome drummer and Beautifull lady ? ... btw .Great Reaction ❤
Very nice comment😊😊🙏🙏🤘🤘
Great reaction man 💯✌️ if you're interested you can check out Slaying the Dreamer by Nightwish 🤟
Oh man, I see You for the 1st time since I saw You with the bunch of your friends when You were drawing bands from the benie of justice lol xD thats why I even found You, coz of Night fish xD
Nice reaction dude, thoroughly enjoyed your breakdown on the song - but have you left Suite Clarity?
🤘
Lots of new music released recently, here's some that have come out in the last couple weeks:
"G.O.D". by Nemophila. 1st release as a 4 piece, Saki left earlier this year.
"Someone's Daughter" by Jinjer
"Show Them" by Band Maid with The Warning.
"Dream Stealer" by Arch Enemy
Oh my, you look like you've spent some time in the gym! I remember a skinny guy, but now you have some muscles - good for you! 🙂
Thanks! That means a lot, seriously 🙏

Cheers.
Honestly, I also wanted the voice louder, BUT it was a stylistic choice, so it is what it is 👍🏻
Where did Floor say anything about the mix?
@@DeepeningTheListening actually she didn't. There was a comment in a livestream about PoTT not being amongst her favourites on the album but that may have been more the vocal style than the mix.
Thanks for your great reaction to this masterpiece. Here's some probability calculations:
Step 1.

She is considered one of the best japanese singer nowadays. The most versatile singer and the best acting singer i have ever seen.
Looking forward to it. Thanks
You have super good mic recordings in these videos. That mic is super popular among youtubers but nearly everybody has worse audio quality than you!
new subs here .. u in many bands now ? coz remeber u in some other rections
I’m in 3! All linked in the description 😁
🤘😎🤘
I like it and will have to give it a try, thanks! 🙏
The current bass player Jukka Koskinen's former main band was Wintersun, just like the drummer Kai Hahto's. Wintersun is by no means defunct, and having two members at times tied up with Nightwish stuff is no worse than having just one.
Suite Clarity or something? was your original band channel? A lot of partially funny input was shared back then :)
I wish you a lot of luck to find a desperate well known band in need of your skills like Floor did with 68.
🤘😆🤘
How was the Mix, some people have complained its off
Is this your first reaction on a Nightwish song? Cause I can't find any other in your channel.
Greetings from Finland 🤘
@Anthony Corso did you leave SC?
Nope, we’re still rocking! The band is just focusing on other things now that aren’t specifically on YT.
Cool. Thanks.

1) Bad move comparing yourself to Bruce Dickenson, it can only lead to depression, haha.
2) There was once a little sausage named Baldric. The end.

@@Anthony_Corso heh heh, Excellent!

Asking UA-cam for feedback. Living on the edge...
But since you asked:
I personally really enjoy the musical theory moments (like Kardavox, Daily Doug, Beth Roars, Nina Schofield)
Also you take your time to show your personality, put in some fun and of course you also need to put in some shameless self promotion (yes, that is perfectly fine).
I just sit in front of the camera. Nothing is scripted. Whatever comes out, comes out. 🤷🏻♂️
I already liked your comments in the previous band, so keep it up 😀
21:35 wow that guy is shit at bass 😜 (actually I quite respect you as a musician… but I also gotta give you shit lol)
Your analyses are pretty informative and for a band like Nightwish especially I think it’s quite handy for all the theory nerds out there 😁. I remember hearing complaints about the mixing but I waited to hear the song until you reacted to it and I have no complaints. Everything this band does is intentional so I figured there had to be some logic behind it and you explained that well too.
You’re doing well, keep being yourself and consistent then your solo channel will grow!
Out of all the people across all of UA-cam, I friggin’ KNEW you’d be the one to take me up on the dig at my bass playing 😂😂😂
@@Anthony_Corso 😏
Let´s hope that when Nightwish does their next tour in US, the opening act would be Greyhawk or SC 😉
#manifest 😂😂
Yes, and if not, you should bear in mind that Nightwish has already made room for a second support. Especially for an aspiring local Power Metal band. And even if it would only be for one or two of their shows somewhat "close" to the Seattle region.
P.S. I wish we hadn't to wait until 2026 for a new Nightwish tour.
where are your friends of band?????
Forgive me for being an old fart when I say this but what you're doing now works so much better than what you did with your bandmates before, it was at times bit too unfocused and all over the place with you three chatting :)
Edit. Speaking of reaction videos, music you guys did was good
I agree with that! That’s why I’m doing this now. Much more substance, I think.
@@Anthony_Corso indeed, a lot more 👍
Start learning from Tarja Turunen.
I think if you want to engage live with an audience you should watch live performances rather than incredibly complex, expensive videos
Nightfish....wtf?
But your vocals were nice.
Hard core nightwish fans need to chill 😂 they can't take it when the band miss on something, the video and lyrics are amazing but the mixing is strange.
Nothing wrong with the mixing.
