Thank-you for making this video. I have the Xi5 with 2 Elite 9Ti's, all connected with a NMEA Gateway. I also strapped on a Lowrance HDI transducer to the Xi5. Now I might actually be able to start taking full advantage of all that I have. The handheld remote has been good, but distracting, and the foot control is trash. Thank-you again for this video! Just as a side note, I'm not sure how necessary it is to have the HDI transducer, since I don't really use down imaging at the bow, and the added transducer is rather cumbersome. Chart, sonar, and autopilot is about all I would want up front.
@@lukealexander9479 Yes, it is. It's stiff and I cannot make subtle steering adjustments. Plus, it goes through batteries-AA, and you need to carry a screwdriver with you to change them. That being said, I love the motor, and it's compatible with my Lowrance units. And, it was more affordable for me.
@@lukealexander9479 I tried it a few times and it sucked and kept losing its connection. I use the handheld remote, hanging on my neck, and really like it.
Luke I am a fan of the foot pedal. Sure it takes a little getting used to if you are used to cable steer. I find a few gentle touches helps with the slight adjustments. As for the remote this is only distracting until you get used to the buttons. Motorguide kept the remote simple to help you learn quickly. The other advantage is all your indicators are on the motor, at a quick glance you know what the motor is doing. No checking your LCD display to find out what mode you are in.
Made me cringe when you set your anchor mode to a waypoint with all that underwater trees/stumps in the way lol. Learned a lot thought, thanks for the video.
I wish the xi5 foot peddle was like regular trolling motor that changed direction keeping foot on peddle if I don't take foot off it will just keep going around an around that the only thing I don't like that's the only reason minn jumped ahead
Hey there. apologies for the late response. yes it is possible. power and the network a seperate. I would contact an installer to get an idea how this looks. keep fishing
Patrick, I tried to make the Lowrance unit follow a route. Not possible. A flaw in the software. Have you tried that? Also I found the shapes to be almost useless. For example, let's say that I want a circle around a way point. Go to circle, and found out that the minimum radius is 82 ft. Not usable, too big of a circle. I would like to circle around 25 ft around my way point so that I can cast to it. Have you tried these functions?
Hi Laurence. Sorry for that late response. This is very dependent on wind and current and of course the size of boat and Xi5, however in fresh water in my boat on a 80lb unit I can achieve 4kts no problem.
I am sorry you didn't get anything from this clip Bill. I will work on my accent and hopefully the next video you will be able to understand me. If you could perhaps share a link to a clip that can help me with this concern. Please feel free to drop me a line to point out any other changes I can make to my appearance, my country of origin or simply anything that would better suit you.
Had no problem understanding his cool accent or hearing him at all...very informative video, thanks!

Marty Epperly is the foot pedal really that bad? Iam a bass fisherman and I’ve been looking at getting one of these over the Ultrex.

Is it possible to set up a circuit so that Motorguide 12V and Lowrance Elite fs (nmea2000) work from one battery? If yes, how should it look like?

Hi Arturo. there is a follow route option. jump on UA-cam and you will find a link to set this up. Good luck mate and go hook em!
are you still running the same trolling motor? Pros and Cons?
That's awesome.
Travis Saulters thanks mate. Glad you got something from this clip.
Can this follow a route.
does the xi5 have down image in the motor too?
No it does not. Only Sonar!!
Whats the top speed of this motor?

this is worthless cannot hear him due to the wind and his accent very hard to understand
