"can you imagine...?" Don't need to. I've been there. It's a genius move that warms up the crowd with a song just about everyone knows, loves and can sing along to - getting them to pay attention to the stage and preparing them to sing along to Green Day's own songs. It grabs attention, starts the mood of the show, brings people in with something they enjoy, loosens up the mood, and creates anticipation for the main act all at once. With just one single song.
This is the power of great music! This is why Queen is so legendary. They did what few bands could ever do. They wrote a masterpiece of modern music that will live on for as long as people are alive. Like Beethoven their music will live and be celebrated long after they are all gone.
I saw something similar in 1994. I was at the Eagles concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. After the opening act Sheryl Crow finished her set, one of the songs played was "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison as the roadies changed the stage setup. The crowd not only sang along with every single word, but some took lead vocals while other did harmonies. It was really incredible to be a part of, especially considering it was very impromptu. No rehearsing, no one on stage telling certain parts of the crowd to take one part and others to take another. And no lyrics we put up on the screens. I've been to over 100 concerts by different artists and have seen the audience sing along to the music played between the bands, but nothing like that. Truly memorable.

You can tell a song is immortal when the fans sing the guitar solo!
At the beginning, the cloud on the top left looks like Freddie's face; it's as if he's looking down on the crowd and blessing them
i watch this many times i still get goosebumps 😱 dododododododoooo you’re a legend if the crowd sing your guitar solo 😊..and yes they did! ... look up to sky and see freddie is watching🙏🏻 RIP dear Freddie
His peeps did what they always do SING. Freddie was right there in spirit, conducting them as he always did.
Because Queen is the greatest ssf t band on the world. Freddie's voice, Brian on guitar, J ok hn on bass and Roger on drums. THE GREATEST!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Freddie always knew that he would be a legend. He still is. after 50 years.
"can you imagine...?"
Don't need to.
Best way to warm up an audience.. no support group required. Green Day....smart move 🙂
Freddie was looking down and saying "I like it .." He loved that the people sang his songs. I loved this.
😭💞beloved Freddie!we miss u!
When they play it before they come on, this is the responds from the audience, makes it epic that 65000 was in attendance :D
