Watching these EU videos makes me feel like XCOM 2 didn't have a background mystery music that kept the sense of unknown going. I guess it makes sense because at this point, humans already know what to expect and seen everything alien had to offer. Still, I miss it. XCOM 3 can't come soon enough.
I thought the same thing. Personally for me the classic series like Xcom 2: TFTD was the most memorable, and that music had more of a mysterious feeling, although "creepy" might even be a more appropriate word -- as if something was constantly lurking around. I'd say the new series in general kind of lost that vibe so I kind of miss that, but definitely not complaining. I'm happy that the series is back.
I guess it made sense because you had enemies lurking inside of your territory, however… in Xcom 2 the aliens won and the Xcom are usually the invaders of the scenario so an epic music makes more sense in that situation. I never played EU myself, however I have to say the soundtrack sounds awesome.
Yeah I didn't really like most of the design elements of 2. 1 had a more military-esque feel to it. And the music was fucking epic at times. The music in 2 is good, but it doesn't reach those peaks. Xcom 3 should go back to a more refine version of this style, but keep the gameplay of 2.
@@knightofjustice5475 the music from enemy unknown always tried to be more tense and mysterious, I really liked it. However, Xcom 2's soundtrack is epic as well: I think they both fit the theme they go for. It'd be cool for Xcom 3 to get back to the sense of Unknown though, especially since the Elders are gone, and the “Real Enemy” should show up soon.
Shen: we have installed an internal cooling system into the Titan Armour, providing the wearer immunity to environmental hazards such as fire. Observe. (Activates flame jets) Jill: (agonised screaming) Shen: oh…oh dear… Bradford: perhaps this new armour should come standard with helmets.
@@Applewille In the long war mod of X-com: EW, depending on your threat level, there is up to a 30% chance that a landing ufo will be a trap ufo with significantly more enemies that are also higher level units like berserkers, sectoid commanders, and cyberdiscs. Also in Long War every enemy has waayyy more health and deals more damage too.

I fully agree with you. X2 has some great tracks but the music in EU is much stronger on the background level.

I just finished playing XCOM EW for the first time recently and I thought that the neck piece on this armor looks goofy without the helmet
Tanking Flamethrowers with your face :D That's XCOM Tactics at it's best!
and the odds to hit were so high!
That's why I always give my soldiers a helmet cosmetic that covers the entire head when I get the titan armor.
If it had been a guy with a beard, I would've expected his beard to be singed off.
a decade later and this guy is still active. What a legend
Jill Valentine is always a kickass or is it just me?
Her exposed face just took that
