There are shoulder braces you can purchase, also called posture correctors. It helps make you more mindful about your posture. I have one for when I'm sewing. A good massage helps as well! 😊 Love your new sewing pattern upgrades. Thanks for all your hard work.
Yeah! I do have one of those shoulder braces-- totally agree that it keeps you thinking about it! And I LOVE getting massages haha-- will use any excuse to get one... honestly top of my list!
I live in the UK, and I can wait to see your patterns featured on the Foldline. You are a beautiful, powerful, creative, spirit who does not need to be edited!,
The Fold Line is great!!! Watch it every week. Love your patterns, wish I could order fabric too, but duty and customs make it cost prohibitive. Also love your videos - so energetic, inspiring and uplifting :-)
Thank you!! Okay honestly so great to hear that The Fold Line is resonating so well with everyone-- it sounds like they have a great reputation! Fingers crossed that all goes well with getting my patterns in there!
So much in this video! Black inspo, your intentions,(yes please share posture helps) and trying new things and being open! Right there with you on all these!!! I just cut out a black canary blouse last night!
My next sewing project is your Pocket pattern. I bought it a few months ago, but I am currently moving which is seriously cutting into my creativity!! After that I'll make the Canary. I have the most beautiful blue linen set aside for that project. I'll send you some pics when I get done.
Good luck with your move and settling into the new place! Excited to see your blue Canary and/or your pocket when they're finished... please definitely DO send pics!!
Wow! Really cool options and upgrades for your patterns. Loving the Ladybird ❤. Moving now and everything is packed or jumbled about but once settled, I may have to take on that project. (I’ve yet to sew a button hole and I’m intimidated, but I need to get over it 😂 ). Fabulous new things happening for you; very cool! 👏🏼🙌🏼💙🤎
Thank you!! Very excited to get the new pattern out there :) Good luck with settling into your new place, and sending you big buttonhole confidence!!! :)
Thank you! Haha GREAT question... I have to stay very focused on staying focused..🤣. I feel like that is more than half the battle! And glad to hear the Fold Line is a good spot for the patterns-- fingers crossed that it all goes well with getting them in there!
Hi, this is the first of your videos I have seen, and it couldn’t have hit any more marks. “Authenticity” is getting bandied about in a way that wants to wear out the meaning, and you are keeping the warp and woof tight. Cannot wait to sew the Ladybird. Wanted a project to work on with my Mom over the 2 weeks I will be how for Thanksgiving. (Who wants to work on my baby Singer when I can work on her Cadillac machine, ammirite?) I won’t go on about everything I loved, but you are nailing the previews, sharing your intentions, and sharing your experiments. One request - I would love to hear more about how you are using Chat GPT for decision making. Excited to follow your journey.
So glad to have you here! Enjoy the Ladybird, what a fun project to do with your mom! And thanks for the note on ChatGPT, I'll either incorporate it into a future video or make it it's own topic 👍
Great video! So excited to get the Ladybird pattern! All your black clothes are awesome. Next year you might try the Weaver House Holiday fair held at the BOK building. It was great last year and promises to be even bigger this year.
I'm one of those OG Canary pattern people, and I'm thinking I should make a cozy flannel version for fall. Maybe plaid.... Also, there's probably a makers group in Philadelphia where you can talk with other people who are also creating their own businesses at home. I wish I could tell you how to find a group; I found mine through a woman I met in a yoga class.
Oooooh definitely try flannel on the Canary-- that sounds so cozy! (would you let me know how it turns out? so curious to see it in that fabric!) and good point on makers group... I'm kind of vaguely keeping my eyes peeled for one, but I think it might require some more direct googling and asking around!
You are adorable and hearing you explain what you’re creating is fantastic! I’m a fellow creative spirit…painter, jewelry designer, seamstress and whatever else I choose! I taught Home Ec maaaaaannnny moooons ago! So watching you do your thing really is wonderful! I’m going to be watching….and maybe purchasing! Keep on keeping on!
I actually was a vendor there the past two years while I lived in Pittsburgh! Absolutely loved it! But now that I'm 5.5hrs away in Philadelphia, I decided to opt out this year. Couldn't justify the cost of the drive and hotel... I'm going to miss it!
Isn't the indigo awesome?! Noted on the posture video-- I'm testing out (aka constantly forgetting and failing to test out) some of my posture exercises as we speak 🤣
Thank you, I'm loving the black, too! And I wish I could do baby/kids stuff! But I currently live in a social bubble where I actually don't know any babies or kids to try the clothes on 😂... someday I'm sure that will change!
It’s always so inspiring and enjoyable to listen to other people talk about their passions and other aspects of life that bring them joy. 😊 For posture and strengthening/stretching your upper body, I highly recommend mobility exercises, pilates or yoga, and strength training for your core + arms + upper/lower back + neck. You can find plenty of exercise routines on UA-cam and you don’t even need to lift that heavy to build muscle. ALSO, I HIGHLY recommend getting the book titled “Sew Healthy & Happy” by Rose Parr! 💯😊 Always great to hear from you, and I am really looking forward to your new sewing pattern- congratulations on this amazing accomplishment! 🥳 P.S. I think it’s a smart move to partner with The Fold Line because Kate does those fantastic pattern roundup videos here on UA-cam, which will be great exposure for you! ❤
Ahh thank you for so much good stuff in one comment!! Noting all the thoughts on posture-- definitely going to check out that book! And I'm so excited for the sewing pattern too, it's going to feel good to get it out there! AND really glad to know that The Fold Line is resonating with everyone-- sounds like it's got a great reputation! finger's crossed that all goes well with getting my patterns in there :)
Love your energy, I started watching this video ( served to me by algorythm) and I immideately saved it for later! Can’t wait to get to know you and your work more. Greetings from Prague (Czech rep.)🙋🏼♀️
Leah, I actually prefer these stream of consciousness kind of videos. They are much more like a conversation with a friend. Do you do pop ups? The pop ups that yarn dyers do seem like so much fun. Your products seem like they could be a perfect collaboration with local haberdasheries, fabric and yarn shops. People who are drawn to natural yarns tend to look for natural clothing fabrics, especially linen. As we shift into gift giving season I feel like people are very open to trying new artisans/crafts persons. I’d love to organize events where I bring together crafts people, their products, good food and a little live music in the background. I’m going to contact you about getting some garments made for myself.
Yay! I'm glad you enjoy them! I have only done a couple holiday craft markets, never done a pop up in a shop before though... if the occasion arises I would consider it! Also, rooting for you to try out organizing an event of your own! That sounds like a great time! And please do reach out if you are looking for linen garments-- I'd love to make you something!
Check out Katy Bowman for the theory and practice of a pain free and healthy body. Get rid of your shoes. The cushioning in the shoes makes the muscles in the feet atrophy which leads to pain. I‘m 64 for and everyone in my age group says the need orthopedic insoles just to get to the next street corner. I went the opposite route, walking barefoot whenever I can or using barefoot shoes.
Great recommendations! Thank you for sharing-- I'll check out the book! I miss living in a more rural area-- I especially loved walking outdoors barefoot, but feel way too gross doing that in the city I live in now!
This is really interesting! I love the clothes and the natural and nontoxic dyes:D the patterns are so beautiful as well! I adore the jacket-dress you showed in particular👀❤️ I am pretty concerned that you mention using chatgpt though: LLMs are pretty unethical- its made using stolen and plagiarized data and it has a huge ecological impact with its energy and water usage and extreme computing needs, like cobalt and processors. If you need administrative, graphic design, or organizational needs it might be better to invest in hiring a freelancer for a few hours a week or so. As a graphic designer myself, its becoming increasingly obvious when someone is using "AI" in the design process. They end up with a distinct look to them that comes off as pretty bland and manufactured and cheap (in my opinion lol- probably a lot of people cant tell, which is totally fine if thats a trade-off you are comfortable with). Sorry for the mini-rant- a lot of people don't know the hidden costs of LLMs and its a subject im pretty passionate about😅 i hope this didn't read as preachy! No judgement of you continue using it- just spreading the word about its downsides
Thank you! Love hearing your perspective on the AI stuff (don't worry, I have plenty of mini-rants of my own, totally get it 😂). And definitely feel you on the design downfalls of it. I really feel like it's main use for me has been to take all my jumbled thoughts about how to approach a business decision and help me organize sort of a pros and cons list. Pretty much any time I've asked to make creative design decisions it falls flat on it's face 😂
Not yet! But hoping to convert all of my products into having paper options in the next couple of months, so stay tuned! For now, you could also purchase the pdf and get it printed from an online print shop, like TapeFreePatterns.com or PatternPrintingCo.com !

Omg I feel you on the reshoot pain. My current video had the wrong OBS settings and I had to reshoot and I was sooooo mad.
ughhh!!! 😵💫
I love the idea of choosing your own adventure with your newest pattern.
yay! thank you! I'm so excited for it :)

Thank you for being here! Really appreciate your kind words and vote of confidence :) I've got such a soft spot in my heart for Home Ec!!
You look fierce and bada#$!!! Way to rock it! I love that jumpsuit. I’m not a clothing sewing at ALL, but I sure wish I was. Love that jacket.😊
Take a look at Pittsburgh's Handmade Arcade
I actually was a vendor there the past two years while I lived in Pittsburgh! Absolutely loved it! But now that I'm 5.5hrs away in Philadelphia, I decided to opt out this year. Couldn't justify the cost of the drive and hotel... I'm going to miss it!
The indigo linen is beautiful! I'd love to see a video on posture ideas. I find my back hurts after a long sewing session.
Isn't the indigo awesome?! Noted on the posture video-- I'm testing out (aka constantly forgetting and failing to test out) some of my posture exercises as we speak 🤣
I love ❤love ❤love the black! Any chances of any baby/kids stuff in the future? 😊

Can't wait for the new pattern. I love it!!!
Me either!! So excited to get it out there :) Thanks for being hyped with me!
You have inspired me to start cutting my ladybird fabric tho am still recovering from anesthesia🤪
LOL Teri!!! I hope you cut straight lines 🤣🤣
