The more you work with film, the more you realize how much there is to learn. In addition to what I've mentioned in this video, remember the importance of:
- Location (a good location gives you a more professional look)
- Good audio (invest in a quality microphone. I recomend a lavalier)
- Bakcground (should contain depth and perspective, without being distracting)
- Be creative, and try different angles, focal lengts and movements with the camera.
- Don't be afraid to fail. I'll never be 100% perfect. But you'll always learn.
I used the Canon 700D for all the shots. The Sony a7s were used to film behind the scenes.
Pro tip: Make a custom picture profile with as low contrast as possible. I go deeper into detail in this video: • Top 10 UA-cam tips - ...
I can't believe this guy killed himself. This is so sad. He was such a good teacher and he seemed happy and upbeat and really nice too. This hurts, man!!

Those are some smooth handheld panning shots 👌🏼
Wow, this video was really useful. I already know all of this, but the way he simplified it made it really easy to understand and helped alot. Such good calming vibes in this video.
Great movements and beautiful model! Congratulations!
I still come back to his videos even after his death. He had to be one of if not my all time fave person to turn to for advice on production. SOOO sad. RIP. xo
Simple, entertaining, educational. Love the balance in your tutorials. Same goes to Andyax. You two seem to influence each other a lot. Keep it up!
Thank you very much! Yeah, we bring the best out in each other ;)
the smoothness in those handheld shots is unbelievable!+
+Audio Ardor Image stabilizer + warp stabilizer + practice ^_^
I really appreciate UA-cam for continuing to suggest Eskild's videos for me to watch on occasion. He was a good personality on here. It is so sad he let his inner demons win. He lives on in these videos though.
This is amazing!
Your channel and Andyax's are honestly the BEST out there for this information! So informative, so professional and such charisma! Love ya work guys!
Thank you very much! =)
Nice and concise!
Rest in peace, Eskild. You and Andyax helped me more than you'll ever know.
I love your presenting style, it's very informative, clear and never sounds like you're patronising the audience. Good work man, always look forward to new videos from this channel.
+spugesdu That's what I'm trying to, so I'm glad you like it =)
You are an absolute inspiration to me. You show that you don't need a 7D and $3000 lens to get great film but just knowledge. Your are amazing, please keep posting!
Wow, that comment is an absolute inspiration. Thank you =)
I don't have any camera but this guy makes me want one.
Do it ;)
This was really helpful! Thanks for sharing all this information. 👍
Good tips, beautiful model, really well explained, good pronunciation for a foreign, relaxing and clear voice and nicely guided. Perfect video. (Yes, my description was made like by a Robot, lol)
Where are you from? And in wich town/city you shoted this tutorial?
Thank you Mr. Robot ;)
Thank a lot. I can't wait for the next batch of videos.
You guys are great man! Learned a lot from you and Andyax.
+Bob Longfellow Thanks man =)
The most simple and pleasant tutorial on the "film look" I've seen yet. Always enjoy your videos. Well done!
+David McClelland I'm glad you think so, thank you =)
I came here to learn about the film look and fell in love!
Interesting and easy to follow! Well done eskild!
I want a nice camera so badly. I've been watching your videos for many years, and every time you do a video about your camera or camera skills it makes me want to shoot on something better than my iPhone. As always great video Eskild!
+94Keegan You can achieve pretty decent quality with today's iPhones. Though, a DSLR will give you a lot better depth of field. But, as I demonstrate in this video, you don't need a very expensive one to get a nice look =)
+Eskild Fors Maybe you could do a video on how to take great pictures with an iPhone?
94Keegan Maybe I will ^_^
Impressive. Even more impressive when you directly compare before and after shoots.
+ViRuSTriNiTy Thank you very much =)
I 'm just a guy who lives in Brazil , not English I can speak , but since I met you and your channel by lumia 950 video , I'm always waiting for your next videos and always learn something new with them

jliverty There are no specific rules. Follow your eyes =)
what about color grading tool ? any guidelines ?
jliverty Lumetri color is the one I use here =)
This is such a great video! Thinking about the shot for a few minutes rather than a few seconds can make your shot top notch. :)

Actually a super helpful video! Been watching you for a long time and you still manage to create awesome content every single time :]
+Aksel Haugen Wow, that's inspiring to hear, thank you =)
Sorry I cant "focus" my attention on what you were saying, she's too gorgeous
Isn't she just.
***** This just made my day :)
I wouldn't mind being the sunlight hitting on her diagonally from behind. She would look good no matter what hard to mess up on that.
Good to know that "gibberish" is "too far".
Haha I couldn't focus either! Although, I was smitten by HIM (the photographer/camera man). He is so beautiful! Took my breathe away!! :: heart melt :: I wonder if he'd ever reply to me?
finally some simple and clear explanation.
føler at det er litt humor i dette..ettersom jeg har sett dine videoer fra før (iPad 2 review etc) haha :)
Great video, quality and I like the way you talk.
I found you on the video comparing the A7S 2 and A7S 1. I love your style! Thank you for posting!

you are as good filmaker as your friend Anders .congratulations ,excellent tutorial
Amazing video as always!
Thank you for the tips Eskid... LOve your videos
Thanx for the tip: short & sweet.
Nice video! One detail you didn't mention though: in your "ideal backlight position" she is standing in front of a white building, that is hit by the sun and acts as a giant softbox. Without that, the background to face exposure would not be as balanced. Either the background would be way to bright or her face too dark. The "white wall" trick would make for a good tip, too. I guess. You don't always need big expensive lights, if you know how to model natural light. Cheers
Good point! Thank you =)
Cool video, like the dramatic way you ended your video. :)
Great info! Covered some of the basics pretty well! A lot of "film look" tutorials I have watched only talked about the "picture profile" but yours is about it all. Very much appreciated! :D Hope all is well!
This is one very good video about cinema look, thx! If you can add more tip would be nice. I would watch more.
Bro! You're awesome! Thanks for the tips!!
Thanks brah
The model is beautiful.

Simple and perfect clue
Congratulations!! Well Done!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

As always amazing job
Thanks a lot for this video. I have the same body & kit lens. At the very least, now I have a point from which to start from with my settings and that's going to help a lot as I look to break away from auto mode and move into manual for video work.
+Yankee Great, I'm glad you like it =)
That was a fantastic shot eskil
Eskild* Thank you =)
Amazing ! Please do more of this :-)
great video thank you
What do you use to edit your video? I'm new in in Video and Pictures.
Adobe Premiere Pro. You can try it for free for 30 days 😃

Great vid bro! Which program did you use for color grading?
Thanks bro! I use Adobe Premiere Pro CC
Thanks for answering! So it's the standard version or with plug in?
Have a good day and keep up the great work!
Greetings from Germany
Flo (SPRCRS)
Cool! Nice filming tips!
Good tips.. I used my dslr for records my video
Great job Eskild : )
Thank you =)
You're welcome!!!
Wow! thank you so much
Can you show tips on how to stabilize handheld footage (during shooting and post-production)? That would be really helpful. :)
+Liam Cirge Nevermind the post prod, I saw your video on stabilization. But how do you achieve a stabilized posture? Is there a technique?
+Liam Cirge It's takes a little practice, and several trials and errors. I rarely get it right the first time, so I just keep on filming the same shot til it sits =)
Oh. So I'm stuck. There are scumbag actors and directors always giving me a critique for some of my shaky shots. Haha. Thanks anyways. :)
Liam Cirge You could also invest in a rig, which will stabilize further
nice tutorial thanks
Glad to hear =)
Calves of steel to keep the camera steady! Thanks for the tips for my videos!
Aww! Nikoline is so beautiful!!!
