Great information about transportation .. the mall looks like a fantastic place to spend a few hours in the A/C ....
The A/C is definitely nice. Plus, Tops supermarket in the Floresta basement has a restaurant with great Western food. Both sides have food courts with tons of small vendors with inexpensive Thai, Indian and Chinese food.
Very helpful
It's similar to Jeepneys in the Philippines
How late do these Songthaews run in Phuket? Heard they stop as early as 6pm…
The last runs are about 6 pm. I think it’s because they often just stop on the side of the road to let people on and off. Sunset here is 6-6:45 year round so they don’t want to operate in the dark, can’t see people wanting to get on (not a lot of dedicated bus stops).
Just like jeepney in the philippines 🇵🇭
Yep, same basic principle.
Can I catch this bus to the old town from the police box at Patong opposite Bangla road?
I know they have a bus that goes from Patong to Old Town but I’m not sure of the exact location you can catch it in Patong.
Yes, this is the place where there are many of these buses standing or at least going throught.
Does this go from Karon to old town?
Yes, the end point is in Kata Beach but it heads north through Karon along the beach then cuts back south, goes over the mountain at Kata and then north to the other end point in Phuket Old Town.
nice info, can i catch this bus from The Big Buddha to Chalong or Phuket town?
Unfortunately it does not go to Big Buddha (it’s up a long winding road to the top of a mountain). Probably best to use a driving app such as Grab, Bolt or InDrive to get a ride up there and back.
@@KhakiShorts but it does go to chalong and phuket old town?
@@ivanyufenstefanus8272 Yes, one route goes between Phuket town and Kata/Karon. That bus passes through Chalong and the big traffic circle there.
do you think it's better to take blue songthaew or phuket smart bus to travel around? my initial departure is kata beach
@@ivanyufenstefanus8272 Smart bus only runs up and down the west coast from/to the airport (some good videos on YT on using it). If you want to go cross island you ned to use the blue songthaew.
It's pronounced Song-THOUW (rhymes with ouch)! Good video though. it's a shame Phuket doesn't have more 10 baht buses to get around like Pattaya. The ease of travel in Pattaya makes it a good one
Yeah, I know (hangs head), I’ve been corrected a few times from this one. 😆 Its still amazing how bad public transportation is here and how little of the island is actually covered. Wow, 10 baht buses in Pattaya? Good old Phuket tourist prices here.
@@KhakiShorts yes 10 baht busses every 5 mins in pattaya and jomtien. Travel long distances very cheap. Phuket taxi mafia is a joke it needs more public transport
@@ATIWatchReviews Ugh, don’t even get me started on the taxi mafia. Officials here don’t realize how bad it makes Phuket look. As long as those brown envelopes keep coming…
Just want to help you with the pronunciation of the public bus. It’s pronounced similar to “song-(tay-o)”, two syllables.
Thanks for the correction. 🙏 After I posted it my wife said “That’s not quite right”. I often mangle Thai, you should hear me trying to get tones right but we’re both trying. 😂
@@KhakiShorts Glad to help. We are retiring this year to Thailand. I’m tutoring my spouse some Thai lessons before we go. Just some basics.
